Bistro Vendome Ratings and Reviews
Nice rendition of a French bistro. Very busy even on a Wednesday night, which made service just a bit less attentive than I would have liked. Food quite good, overall. But beware: the default fries with the steak frites come doused in sugar?! The French would be aghast! Be sure to ask for real fries.
This was my first time dining at Bistro Vendome -- and had heard lots of rave reviews so was excited to try it. I solidly liked my dinner, but didn't think it quite lived up to the hype I had heard from friends and in reviews. The charcuterie appetizer was disappointing and the bouillabaisse, while good, seemed to lack enough broth from what I've had elsewhere. I would definitely give Bistro Vendome another try next time I'm downtown.
Very disappointed in our meal. I ordered the Lapin au moutard. No sauce and one small drumstick - a rabbit drumstick is smaller than a chicken leg. This was a really skimpy portion and I’m not expecting a huge serving but this was ridiculously small.
$48 Cotes du Rhône was good but we’ve bought this same bottle at our wine shop for about $12 - HUGE mark up on wine. Our server completely missed that our table of 4 needed more wine after our first courses which meant our second bottle arrived after our main courses. This is careless inattentive service.
Charming decor - too bad food and service don’t match the setting.
Very cute atmosphere tucked in the middle of Larimer square... our waiter was fairly new and didn't know a lot of the descriptions or recommendations but everything was delicious. The timing was slow between appetizers and dinner so we were unable to have dessert as we had a show! Definitely will go back!!! The Bouefe beef is a must try
The cocktails, pre-dinner, are interesting and whet the appetite for supper. We had the bœuf braisé : outstanding. This is fairly traditional French bistrot fare with a few imaginative hints, but nothing daring. If you don't like nouvelle cuisine, this place could become habit-forming. A Larimer Square staple for many years: always reliable, always friendly. Nice selection of wines, especially reds. Bravo, one more time! ~RL
The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Without a doubt, the cocktails were some of the most well crafted cocktails I've had since moving to Denver. The wait staff was swift, polite, knowledgeable, and readily accommodated our timeline without complaint. We will certainly be recommending Bistro Vendome to everyone we know , and we can't wait to go back!
This was a true discovery! My only regret is that I am here for four days, and could not come here to eat at least once a month. In fact, we are going back for a second time instead of trying a new restaurant while in town!!!
The food was delicious but the people were so caring, attentive and kind. How refreshing for service in a restaurant.
Love Bistro Vendome and eat there several times a year, usually for weekend brunch. First time for dinner in several years. Food uniformly good and mostly true to French traditions. Only 2 complaints, or things I wish would change. The frites are coated with some kind of sweet/sour/salty finish which I do not find appealing or tasty. When I am looking for a steak frites, I want it to be traditional, but I keep forgetting and am disappointed. And wish there were a coffee option beyond French press. For those familiar with this method I'm sure it is easy, but I never remember how long to time it etc. Would love to be able to order a cappucino and have it served to me.
I love this restaurant and have eaten here many times. Our food and service at our most recent outing was great until I found a hair in my salad. OK, this happens, it shouldn't but it does, and it's still gross (and so disappointing because I was really enjoying my salad). The waiter apologized and took it away and that was the last we heard of it, which was also disappointing. I intentionally didn't make a big deal of it as I didn't want the other diners to hear or make a scene, but I thought his lack of acknowledgement afterwards was wrong. The rest of our meal, and our wine, were outstanding and I will run back here. But the salad hair thing did leave me with a bad feeling. It was removed from the bill, of course, but I dunno, I feel something more should have been offered to make up for such a gaffe at a restaurant of this caliber. A glass of champagne? A dessert? An offer of a side dish? A remade salad? Something. It didn't ruin the meal because it really was all so very good (and the server, apart from this, was excellent, as were the support servers). So all my stars would be higher if it weren't for the salad incident. But do go to Bistro Vendome, order the steak frites au poivre and listen to the wine recommendations. You won't be disappointed!
I have been patronizing Bistro Vendome for many years. I have never had anything but a positive experience each time I have visited, whether for brunch, lunch or dinner. The location is perfect if you are attending the theater or shopping in the area, and ambience, service and food are second-to-none! I also feel it is a great value for such wonderful cuisine!
We did not have a good experience and have eaten there many times.
The server was not extremely friendly and just seemed like he was going
through the motions. Our food came out luke warm to cool. We did not
send it back.
I have always liked your restaurant, but this gave me pause as to if I want
to return. There are too many good restaurants that do it right, to waste
money and time on something mediocre.
Thank you for reading.
This was our anniversary dinner and I'm a big fan of Bistro Vendome. The European ambiance and service are always top notch. And the food is always prepared thoughtfully.
This is the first time I was disappointed. My husband ordered the french onion soup, and steak and frites. All excellent. He kept commenting on how tender his steak was. We also ordered brussels sprouts to split. I ordered the salad special and the halibut. The salad was delicious. The halibut dish and the brussels sprouts came out luke warm. Seemed like timing in the kitchen was off. I then had to wait. It kind of ruined the evening. The fish itself was excellent when it came back, but the accompaniment just seemed a bit off for what I'd expect from a French restaurant. Perhaps I just made the wrong choice and didn't thoroughly read the dish's description. The manager was apologetic for the wait, and picked up our wine. They're a class act but nonetheless I was kind of bummed.
This was a great experience! We went to their Monday night movie night ,which includes an amazing Prix Fixe menu. We were the only ones there due to some last minute cancellations, so the whole space was ours. The menu was constructed to coincide with the movie ( Marie Antoinette), so it was rich, decadent and delicious! General manager Missy and Chef Becca were very attentive , as was the rest of the staff. What a wonderful first experience at Bistro Vendome!! We will be back ASAP!
Such a cute French Bistro in Larimer Square, which you really have to see at night, so beautiful! Excellent food, felt like I was dining in France. The Boeuf Braise was the All Star!!! Truly exquisite flavors!! We also had the Malfatti Citrouille aux Champignons (pumpkin dumplings) with duck confit, a perfect Fall dish, great flavors. We started with the Salad du Marche' (beets, goat cheese, peaches & walnuts), also did not disappoint. Then for dessert, we had the Chocolate Bouchons and the Foie Gras Creme Brulee! What a nice meal, I'll definitely go back!
