We have been to this restaurant many times over the years and always been pleased. This time was a disappointment. Food wasn't great - odd preparations and combinations of flavors. One fish dish was a little overdone. The drinks and the hors d'oeuvres were the only good parts of the meal. Server wasn't very informative, and slow to come back to table to take our order.
We ate outside on the patio on a Monday evening. Spectacular setting. Aaron, our waiter, was great, friendly and well educated on the menu. The only downer was the sugary frites, too much too sweet for this classic dish. Portions were large, almost too much in the first course. Love the place and atmosphere on the patio!
My wife had the Carrottes Roties followed by the Truite Poele and I ordered the Escargot and the Confit de Canard with a side of Pomme Frites. Delicious. The wine list allowed for a bottle of wine( actually two) that was within our budget. Split Pavlova for dessert. The service was excellent.
We had a wonderful time and loved our meal! Merci!
We were seated immediately upon arrival. It was a lovely evening so we sat outside. We had ballet tix and we’re able to get to the theater in plenty of time
A far cry from days of old. I’m not rushing back. The duck was too salty and the onion soup lacking in taste. Even the bread is not as good. OMG
Love the secret garden and fabulous food and service in the heart of lively Larimer Square!
We've been to Bistro Vendome multiple times and it is always delicious! The Crepe Vendome is always a hit, and the Cofit de Canard is marvelous!
So welcoming and respectful. Food delivered hot and quickly. Excellent wine. Still my favorite denver restaurant
Patio seating on a beautiful day was great and the food and service was solid.
The service was slow when we went here on a Saturday night at 7pm. We had four courses during the meal but the timing was off. We found ourselves finishing one course and waiting 20+ minutes for the next to arrive. The food was good and our server was attentive but kitchen timing could use a tune up. The location and ambiance were beautiful.
Kingfish bites (5 of them) were the equivalent of an appetizer but listed - and priced! - as a main course. Panzanella salad had a few tomatoes hiding among the sizable, numerous croutons. Trout was a reasonable portion, but all in all, there’s very little value for your dining dollar here.
Fantastic brunch. Four stars for service only because the server forgot to bring coffee. Wonderful place.
Everything was superb.
Wonderful experience. Food and venue met our expectations.
Awesome! We had a great time.
Great spot in Larimer Square.
Lovely setting in the square. Service and food were outstanding.
Awesome all the way! We will go back soon.
The Duck was perfect!
Lovely dinner on a beautiful fall night. Food and service were awesome and the garden patio setting is perfect for a quiet dinner!
I just returned from France and missed the food so much. Bistro Vendôme offers a comparable experience. The food is incredible. Dine outside if weather permits!
Excellent in selection and ambiance. An old world secret in the center of Denver
Wonderful service and great ambience for being situated in the heart of Larimer Square. It gave us the feeling we were at a quaint bistro in a small French town.
Menu changes slowly and prudently, currently even stronger than usual in seafood, absent beef and lamb. Young chicken now offered is outstanding. (I seldom order chicken in the US, but my trust in Bistro Vendôme was not misplaced.)
Wine list is French, ample and well selected, with some very good values. Mostly young wines chosen for accessibility.
We go there once a year. Among our 3-4 favorites downtown for many years.
Service was good but slow. Coffee selections were minimal for breakfast. First selection pastries should arrive to the table first with coffee not all at once.
Made reservations for 430 pm on Friday. Had the place to ourselves and felt very intimate.
A mixup in the kitchen resulted in one of four entrees (mine—poisson entier) being served after the other diners had finished their entrees. I was comped a dessert by the waiter. Good gesture, but not quite sufficient.
We have been dining at this restaurant for over 10 years. The food has remained delicious. Love the mussels! The service however has gone downhill. One small touch we miss is the yummy baguette that was served warm and wrapped in a cloth napkin. Now, we have to ask for bread and receive a few cold slices on a plate. Just not the same! We also have had to wait on both of our last visits a long while before the waitstaff took our drink order. Such a nice setting and wonderful French cuisine, do hope the staff works on improving the service!
A tasty French meal with outstanding ambiance (eat outside!) but very slow service the night we were there. Everyone was super nice and all, but we skipped dessert and another round of drinks because it would've taken ages to get either. Seems like there was confusion between the staff RE: who had what table. Other diners nearby had their orders mixed up (heard complaints of forgotten salads and no bread), so maybe they just had an off night.
The last two times we have been the food has been outstanding and we love the feel of this place. Unfortunately, the service has tended to be either a bit condescending or inattentive.
My husband and I decided at the last minute to dine at Bistro Vendôme for our 30 th wedding anniversary. The entire experience was wonderful, the food & wine exceptional. The wait staff was very attentive. Overall amazing and looking forward to going back!
Beautiful, romantic setting. Food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Very impressed!
Haven't been to Bistro Vendome in a while and have always had good experiences. This past visit, while the food was good, the service was less than stellar. We had advised that we had tickets to a play and our waiter indicated our hour and a half time frame shouldn't be a problem. Had to wait quite a while for our wine, then again a long wait for dessert. We finally had to grab the waiter to cancel our dessert order as we had to leave for the play. The waiter was apologetic, took the dessert off of our tab and gave us a coupon for a free dessert at a future time. Appreciate the compensation effort, but would have preferred avoiding the stress of a rushed departure.
I would re-visit one more time or recommend it in hopes that the dismal service we received was a one-time Oops. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced at Brunch. The ambiance is spectacular, if only...
Superb egg dishes. Beignets -- well, sugary dough balls are not beignets.
I have to be honest here-- our most recent experience at Bistro Vendome was a pure disappointment, on a level that will be told in the future as part of an 'it was so terrible, it became amusing' story list. We are long-term Bistro Vendome enthusiasts, and have recommended the restaurant a number of times to friends and colleagues. As such, we were delighted to go to Bistro Vendome with friends who had yet to dine there. Our reservation was after a Miss Saigon performance, thanks to BV being open on a more EU schedule. However, when we arrived, we were told that we could NOT have any happy hour items, since happy hour is only served at the bar and not on the patio or in the main dining area, and that many items were no longer on the menu because we were there 'so late'. When we did order, the escargot tasted really bland, the food was served luke warm (duck confit and poulet roti), and the service could only be described as 'partially invested'. They seemed to just want us to leave. Now, I do appreciate that it was 10:30pm on a Saturday evening, but if you do not want customers to arrive at that time, I would highly recommend that you do not allow bookings for then.
Another item to note, and this is perhaps not the fault of BV-- the odors on the patio will remind you of the stench of Venice in a summer drought (what was going on, it was really putrid!!) and 11pm seems to be the glass recycling hour of the neighborhood...large quantities of glass were being placed in a skip nearby and the large crashes periodically drowned out conversation. At times, with the stench, the sound of breaking glass, and the really less-than-mediocre food, we all broke out into hysterical giggles...it was just SO BAD.
I do want readers to know that this was NOT the Bistro Vendome that we know and love from the past, and can only question if it is under new ownership/ management?
Service was terrible. We arrived at 5:25 and were served our entrees at 6:30. We had theater tickets and informed the staff. Two of the dinners arrived about 4-5 minutes before the other two. The food was OK but the menu was restrictive(narrow). A disappointing experience. Will not return.
Wonderful as always. Brunch on the patio is great. It has been a favorite of ours for years.
We had a delightful brunch on the patio before a matinee showing at the theater. The waitress was efficient and delightful and the food was excellent.
I’ve always liked this restaurant. However this visit was not good. We really wanted to sit outside, but even with pretty early reservations, we had to sit inside- which is a little tight and noisy. But the problem was our very unresponsive waiter. We told him that we had a show to get to, but he was extremely slow with getting our orders. The drinks took forever, the escargot we ordered came after 60 minutes. We had to complain to the manager and when the food came, we had 5 minutes to actually eat. They comped an entree, but I’m not sure I’ll be going back anytime soon. We planned 1 1/2 hours for dinner- which should have been enough time to enjoy our food. But instead it was stressful and not at all enjoyable.
