What pairs better with great food than great wine? Bistro Toulouse offers wines that complement our cuisine. Our focus is on French varietals and traditional styles of production, though we offer wines from all over the globe, including 18-20 selections by the glass. Our seasonal house cocktails include creative beverages made with our own infused liquors and syrups.
The food was great as was the service. Our seating area was quite dim and I needed my cell phone flash light to read the menu. noise level was quite loud...........the restaurant needs to add baffles or noise suppressors. Also the seats of the chairs are not padded................fortunately the restaurant had trow pillows one could use mo make the seating more comfortable.
We had the five course meal with wine pairings for Valentine's day. Everything was delicious. Have been to other French places in town and spent a lot more for a lot less
Birthday lunch celebration. Though in a strip mall the food was delicious.
Food and service were very good but wine at $10 per glass still annoying. They ran out of wine special at 6:45 which seemed like poor planning. Also, waitress had no idea what “1 special “ available that I’d signed up for on Open Table was all about.Time for a little fine tuning! Over all, a good restaurant with pleasant atmosphere and good food.
Food and service was great as usual.
As usual, excellent food and service. They especially always do a good job with their moules. It does have the feel of a local french Bistro.
This is one of the best restaurants in all of charleston. We eat out a LOT. Don’t let the strip mall fool you.
It was our first time there. we found out about it because the restaurant was listed for restaurant week. One of my friends does not drink alcohol so when we found out that the 1st course was only alcohol she had to order from the regular menu. It was fairly loud...I couldn't hear my friends across the table. The food was delicious but the waiter was not friendly. he did not smile, he checked on us once but he would not listen for the answer. He asked then walked off. My friend wanted coffee after thee meal but we could not get our waiter attention then we gave up.
The service was slow, but they were working very hard. It was crowded. Seemed there were not enough wait staff for the crowd.
We had guests in from out of town. The restaurant was overcrowded, loud and under staffed. The food quality suffered. Croissants burned. Quiches and crepes barely room temperature. Presentation of food good. Taste was flat. Very disappointing!
Lovely Saturday lunch/brunch! HD reservation with 3 friends and got right in. The quiche, mussels, and crepes all delicious.
The food here was delicious. We went for brunch two weeks in a row and will 100% go again.
The food was quite good, but there were a number of things which detracted from the experience. First we had to wait twenty minutes for our table with no good waiting area. Second and most severe, the restaurant was so very noisy that conversation was impossible. It wasn't energetic; it was deafening. And finally, our waitress worked very hard to do her best, but she was clearly overwhelmed by the number of customers she had. I would go back and would recommend to a friend, but perhaps not during restaurant week and maybe not on a Friday or Saturday night.
This restaurant is one of our go to places when we want a casual meal that is good. The only reason I am not giving it a very good is because the last 2 times I have been there, my meal has been cool. They try to reheat but without a microwave it takes a while. The taste of the food is always good but it's the temperature of it that is the problem.
This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding! I highly recommend Bistro Toulouse!
It was good French food, with European portions. Exactly what we were looking for!
Such a pleasant new experience - we ate here for the first time and will definitely be back. Great food with excellent service. Reminded us a bit of Paris. Nice, reasonably priced wine as well. Don't skip desert!
We eat at BT very often. It's our "go to" place in Mount Pleasant and we are always extremely pleased with our meals. They do a particularly OUTSTANDING job with fish. I highly recommend BT.
One of the best kept secrets in MTP
First time we tried the Bistro was during restaurant week, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. We especially enjoyed trying some different wines that were paired with all the courses of our meal.
Overall the food was amazing expect for the creme brûlée was burnt in some parts and other parts there was granules of sugar. Our server Rosalee was very nice and attentive. 4.5 out of 5 Stars.
We went for restaurant week. First visit and won’t be the last. The food was excellent.
Great food and a delightful evening.
I was a little disappointed when one of party asked to swap out a sweet wine for one of the other featured wines and we were told that was not possible. Seems kind of strict, and we weren’t asking for a wine off of the restaurant week selections. I had the duck/pork loin selection. The duck and the purée were awesome. The pork was all fat. Once again disappointing. Another member felt the short ribs lacked flavor, but the vegetables were excellent. I have been there before with excellent results. Perhaps it was just this evening. I will go back but probably not at dinner. It is too pricey to risk what happened this night to happen again. I hope they would be more flexible with requests in the future. I realize the chef chose the pairings for a reason, but if someone really can’t tolerate a particular selection I would hope there would be some options.
The mushroom goat cheese omelet was superb !
Great food and wine
Surpassed expectations...attentive, but not overly so, service; courses were nicely paced; food was excellent (short rib was sublime).
One of our favorite lunch places. A perfect French bistro hidden in a strip shopping center, and worth seeking out. Today we had mussels & frites which were perfect and ample, as well as some wonderful gougeres and a bacon bloody mary to start. Service was attentive and entertaining. No better way to spend a Saturday.
Get the mussels
Rosalee was a wonderful server
Enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner at one of our favorite places.
A wonderful neighborhood gem that is sure to please, a conclusion reached over many visits. This last visit was on Christmas Eve which accounted for a fully packed place, thus raising the noise level. They offered a prix fixe menu which included my sought after roast goose option. Appetizer options included lobster bisque (lobster-forward!) and foie gras (additional price supplement). Wine pairing for all three courses and specific for each menu option in the courses was a modest $16) making the entire dinner package value-priced. While one could argue for better pairing, it would not have been possible at the chosen price point. With a full house, the service was still friendly, helpful, and, most importantly, accommodating to our request that one diner had two appetizers, and the other, two desserts - splitting our three course meals accordingly.
Kudos to all!
Wonderful wreck fish and mussels!
Wine selection is excellent!
We had a very enjoyable evening - the staff were wonderful and could not have been more helpful. The Octopus and mussels were outstanding - my husbands steak was very good - a little disappointed in the Bouillabese......no saffron a little lacking in flavor and too little rouille - would have liked thicker more rustic slices of bread grilled lightly with olive oil and garlic......the grapefruit ice was to die for. Would definetley book again the next time we are in the area!
Food prep and presentation continues to be outstanding. The specials are always innovative and interesting. Sometimes deserts play second fiddle to the rest of the menu, but not here. The deserts have well prepared regular items, and, as with the appetizers and entrees, you can count on innovative and often unique items, designed and built on site. I find that I am far more likely to get desert here than any other restaurant that we frequent in the Charleston area. Overall good vibe coupled with great food make this restaurant a regular for us.
the boulibase was not good. the anise had no aroma - it was leftover sauce. did not report to server as I ate it as I was hungry. will not go back and will not recommend.
we loved this place.. quiet, great fish, and felt mignon,. escargots and good salads..mimi
Waitress was new, staff backed her up. Food was impeccable!!!
We went there looking forward to a classic French Bistro dinner; came away greatly disappointed in the food, it was not terrible, but not very well prepared. I started with a selection from their charcuterie and cheeses. Received a nice slice of rustic pâté, some accoutrements, and a teeny, tiny slice of Ossau-lraty cheese. Wife ordered the Escargots Bourgogne in garlic-butter and parsley; the dish was short on garlic and served tepid; it’s meant to be served hot out of the oven with sizzling garlic butter and shallots.
For her entrée she ordered the Herb Roasted Chicken; it was pretty good. I ordered the Bouillabaisse; it was not so good. It consisted of 4 large mussels in the shell, 3 medium size shrimp, a small piece of grilled octopus tentacle, and 3 or 4 very small pieces of fish. The broth was watery and tasteless consisting of a few pieces of celery or fennel root, I couldn’t tell the difference, it was so overcooked, and a few tablespoons of dice tomato. It totally lacked the rich seafood stock and the required Provençal herbs and spices that distinguish bouillabaisse from traditional fish soups. Additionally, the Rouille that was served on top of the bouillabaisse was similarly lacking in taste; more like a dollop of mayonnaise. This dish was also served nearly at room temperature, it should be steaming hot; could be the stove, range, or cooktop was malfunctioning that night, who knows?
Maybe it was an “off night”, maybe the chef was on an extended Thanksgiving break, but whoever was in the back doing the cooking was asleep at their workstation. We’ll give it another try and hope for the best, but we have to ratchet down our expectations, that’s for sure.
