Bistro Toulouse Ratings and Reviews
I cant say enough about this place. it is always good and has a few different items on the menu that appeal to me. The mussels are some of the best in the city for sure. The french onion soup is fantastic. Brunch is always a good try as well. Nice people and they appreciate you coming.
Restaurant week, so very impressed the food was good. Seated close to a large party of excited women, so atmosphere very loud. Eric, the server was very nice and on top of things. Food really tasty even though it took a while to get it. Again, restaurant week...to be expected. Will go back later to experience normal dinner. Well done!
The mussels in garlic and butter were outstanding, the frites that accompany this dish were the best we’ve had in the States.
The short rib bourgenon was delicious, but short on sauce. The cassoulet was disappointing as was the chocolate mouse. The onion soup and mushroom soup were tasty.
The service was very good, prices fair.
Bistro Toulouse is a great place for those who like authentic French food. Their onion soup is among the best we've had anywhere in the area and I always choose the chocolate mousse for dessert (and my guy the cheese platter). The portions are reasonably sized and everything is nicely seasoned.
We went to Bistro Toulouse during Charleston's Restaurant Week. Not surprisingly, the restaurant was quite crowded. Our table for two was along a wall toward the back of the room so it was easy to carry on a conversation without raising your voice. I'm not sure that would have been the case if we had been seated closer to the bar in the front.
Love Bistro Toulouse! Short Ribs and Bread pudding are to die for, but everything else was amazing too! Also, LOVE the fact that they take the time to do wine pairings with the restaurant week menu. Been meaning to go there for months since I moved back to Mt. P. Finally made it for RW, and will definitely be going back soon!
Oh my God, where do I even begin. My girlfriend and I went here on christmas eve after seeing the fixed xmas eve menu, it looked pretty good for the price. Appetizer...”seared foie gras” apparently in these parts that translates to a raw, gelatinous calf liver atop a soggy piece of bread. I tried eating this but it was just a mess, and about two bites in I really looked at what I was eating and had to stop because it honestly looked like a raw organ. Entree...Goose. This goose was not raw like my appetizer, in fact it was overcooked and dry. This thing was cut into goose jerky medallions that made me wish I had a glass of sand to moisten up my mouth. It lay on a bed of some kind of mush that I dare not even attempt to eat. Dessert...I mean it was cake, you can’t really mess that up. 1/5, terrible. Went to Charleston Grill the next night and had a proper experience.
Eggs Benedict is excellent at Bistro Toulouse! The Hollandaise sauce is some of the best ever!! The potatoes are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Anne, who is often our server, is very attentive, friendly and professional...excellent service. We enjoy Sunday brunch quite a bit at Bistro Toulouse...one of our favorites!
This restaurant is a hidden charm, located in an assuming shopping plaza in Mount Pleasant. I had the brisket with homemade pasta and root vegetables and my husband had the roasted chicken with pureed potatoes and vegetable. You might think these are "simple" meals to be on a menu in a restaurant; rest assured they were perfectly prepared and seasoned. This is true authentic French cooking that you would find in a small bistro in France. Make sure you order the soufflé for dessert! We enjoyed impeccable service from beginning to end, including having the owner checking in with us to see if our food was to our liking. We will definitely return! (And the parking is free and plentiful right at the front door...)
This was our second time at this restaurant, the first being for an anniversary and the this one for a business trip. We would be regular customers here but we live 70 miles from Charleston.
This is just a great place for real French food and a good French Bistro environment. We highly recommend it.
