I'm in love with sushi. Let's make that clear at the very beginning. So I have tried many sushi places in Vancouver (in the world really). It was my first time in Sakana Bistro, for some reason, and I LOVED it. The whole experience was unique. From their cute setting to their delightful staff, I felt special being in their establishment.
The food was tasty and of high quality ingredients and pleasantly presented.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Fantastic food on the special menu
Food presentation and taste is good. Server is friendly and attentive. 3 course dinner offers some of the restaurant's signature dishes. This is my 2nd visit for Dine Out at Bistro Sakana, very pleased.
It was a most adorable restaurant what I tried in Vancouver. The foods was really tasty and impressive also staffs were so kind and friendly. Everything was way better than I expact. I could recommend to my friend strongly.
All the food was excellent , perfectly executed and well curated in taste. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the dessert. .. not up to the same standard.
Food was really good, exceeded my expectations. The portion is a little small for my husband. Sake pairing was good . Overall I really enjoyed the good.
First night of Dine Out - and service was a little slow. It wasn't busy yet (5:30pm). Not even 1/2 full. The food however was outstanding. Delicious, lovely, tiny and delicate. Not hearty enough for bigger appetites. The dessert was lackluster - but Dine Out usually misses here. For value, this wasn't the best - but I would go again and try more things on the menu. It was cute and quaint, and the Japanese food and presentation rivals bigger more well known and famous places in Vancouver.
Great experience as always. Love this place. So consistent and delicious
Excellent,
Being Japanese I feel at home.
Great food, no farmed fish which is amazing.
Great service, delicious fresh food and amazing service. My favourite place in Yaletown for sushi!
Food was amazing as always, I love this place as oppose to the other two or three very popular sushi restaurants in dt Vancouver because it is local and the quality is very high
The best Japanese restaurant in town
Great well priced sushi in Yaletown. Really good flavours and super fresh fish. The staff was so attentive and our server was amazing. Had a great time.
Very good food and service. Beef tataki was delicious! We splurged on the toro trio set and it was amazing. The shabu shabu was just ok for me. Everything else was great. Very friendly service and adhered to COVID safety. A great dining experience!
Being Japanese and missing new years day due to osechi this was amazing.
Great service and great food , love the food there
Great service, wonderful friendly staff. Best quality fish.. always tastes so good and fresh! Love this restaurant!!! Highly recommended !!!!
Food was fantastic. !! Great service and experience. Sad that because of covid was not more occupied.
I absolutely love this restaurant! Great staff, great ambiance, fantastic service and the food quality is outstanding!!! My favourite new spot.
awesome food, service and great ambience. covid clean!
Love our local Sushi restaurant. The quality of the food is excellent. A must for dine in! Their covid protocols are well done and I feel good about dining in. Try the sockeye jalapeño aburi sushi. Yum.
I have been to this restaurant many times and the food and service is always great. I have recommended it to many people also and they are always impressed.
Food is very tasty. I’m a loyal customer and coming back again and again.
Best sushi ever
Food was highly disappointing. Sashimi didn’t taste fresh. Sauces were too much.
One of my favourite spots for happy hour !! I highly recommend it.
Reservation recommended at happy hour on the weekends as it tends to be busy.
One of the best Japanese restaurants that I have ever dined. Lots of variety, it can be difficult to choose what to order.
Service is very good and we were treated like royalty.
The sushi nigiri is the best. Blue Fin and king salmon all the way!! To my surprise this place does really good cocktails as they really nail the flavors.
The only negative thing is that they over do it with the Plexiglass.
Best quality Japanese food in the city! Patio set up is awesome and good Covid protocols being adhered to
FABULOUS! We wanted omakase and they didn’t have the usual omakase, but they added some extra sushi and sashimi to the 3 course dinner and it was FABULOUS. Everything was so good. I was happy to get to try more than the sushi (but the sushi was also incredible).
Overall positive experience and we enjoyed the dine out selection.
The service was terrible. They were serving the plates laying over to of the guest in one side of the table , even with enough space to serve each guest properly ,that guest was often laying back to allow them to pass the food to the people in the other side of the table -No social distance either . The training for the servers wasn't in-existent . We ordered a bottle of wine and they didin't even know how serve wine. The place is like a more high end sushi place but the foods isn't what it used to be, was lacking flavor. I suggested the restaurant , not sure the other 3 people will go again
Went for dineout - sushi was amazing, some of the hot dishes in the bento were cold and a little lackluster. Still tasted great. Ambience inside was nice, patio was comfortable. Would go back for just the sushi. Friendly service but blatantly trying to upsell when they could.
Always amazing food and service - def the best sushi in the city
The hamachi salad is amazing!!!!!!! Aburi sushi is a must! Cocktail are nice too but a little bit expensive
Hands down the best sushi place in Yaletown and great value.
It was a great experience for us with delicious Japanese foods.
Bistro Sakana is consistently excellent. The staff are great and always happy to try and accommodate your requirements. The food is outstanding. It is a relaxed place to eat and overall great value.
Wanted to love Bistro Sakana, but wasn't off to a good start when our server told us about 1/2 of the menu items we wanted to order were sold out. Not sure if this was due to Covid or other supply issues, but my wife and I started to get a little embarrassed about ordering off the menu as we started playing "will they say it's sold-out?" when ordering. Our server was pretty good and attentive.
Not a great anniversary experience. The food we did get was good (as we expect sushi in Vancouver should be), but didn't really blow us away. We've been to other establishments with better and more consistent offerings for about the same price.
Don't think we'll be back.
Amazing service!!
All the dishes are very good! Fish are fresh!!
Maybe due to the pandemic, the restaurant was a little quiet.
All the servers wear masks, very friendly service!!
