Bistro Romano Ratings and Reviews
Our favorite part of the restaurant was the ambiance. The lighting and feeling of being in an old wine cellar is charming and was a perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The food was very good and we especially loved the calamari. We will definitely come back and have already recommended this place to our friends.
A beautifully decorated restaurant with exposed brick and stone walls. Unique space. Lighting that makes everyone look good. The wait staff was attentive and with personality. The food was wonderful and the portions were just right. Our waiter did forget to tell us about the specials, but other than that, we loved it and will be back.
Really disappointed by this place. Had a reservation but weren’t seated immediately. Our server was really pushy. We ordered a wine flight to start and ordered our entrees. Not even 5 minutes after receiving our wine flight and bread, our entrees came out. We had maybe been seated for 10 minutes, we just felt very rushed and almost like they were trying to get us out of there as quickly as possible. Entrees were mediocre, I’ve had way better Italian food in the city. We asked the server for the dessert menu and not 30 seconds later he came back asking what we wanted. We literally had to tell him to come back in 20 minutes so we can enjoy ourselves and drink our wine. Awkwardly enough, another server came over and took care of us for the rest of the time we were there. I won’t be returning.
The food was super. The shrimp risotto that came with the scallops was truly outstanding, as were the brussel sprouts (with these pickled golden raisins). Delicious. Filet was cooked perfectly. My friend asked for the gnocchi with a different sauce. No problem and the gnocchi was velvety and amazing. As you can tell, we all shared because it was so good. Didn't love the calamari, but that was about it. Prices were reasonable for upscale Italian. The environment is really interesting, like phantom of the opera: all brick, stone, candles, and velvet curtains. Our booth, however, was a bit small - and we are normal sized women. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend.
My husband and I dined at Bistro Romano for our 2nd wedding anniversary. The table was quiet and private, the ambiance was amazing, the menu and service were exceptional. If you go, save room for dessert and try the Hazelnut Semi-fredo, it is absolutely delectable. I would definitely return, there are so many other menu items that I would love to try. Highly recommend this restaurant for a small group or special occasion.
It was our first time and I'm glad I chose this spot for my date. We were seated promptly at a candle lit table, the ambiance was romantic. The food, staff and the service was great. There definitely was some noise but that helped in only adding spirit to the spot and nothing bad. Highly recommend it for a date. Would definitely come back again.
What a great meal start to finish. My wife and we're celebrating and chose Bistro Romano and it was excellent on all marks. Very attentive servers, a seriously wide wine selection and spot on dishes. Get the table side Caesar too. Wonderful to have one created that way as you watch. Just fabulous and a very romantic and cozy downstairs.
I made a reservation here for my boyfriend’s birthday. We were seated almost immediately. I ordered the lobster ravioli and my boyfriend ordered the veal. They were absolutely AMAZING! The atmosphere was gorgeous, as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special night out!
We went here yesterday for our 7 year anniversary for an early dinner. Our table was decorated with rose petals upon arriving. We each had the Caesar salad and for $10 a person, it was not as great as we had hoped it would be. It seemed like a lot of the reviews talked so highly of it , which is why we tried it, but we were not that impressed. Portion sizes were okay, we didn't have any leftovers. We also got the red and white wine flights. Very delicious. For dessert, we had the chocolate torte. Just okay. However, I don't think it was mixed/beaten well (maybe the eggs/oil) because there were hard parts throughout the dessert. Service was great and didn't feel rushed throughout the night.
We were celebrating our 7th. anniversary, what a nice surprise when we got to our table with rose petals on top of the table cloth, candle light and a chilled bottle of champagne. Our server was courteous, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was amazing, we couldn’t ask for a better way to celebrate.
Took my wife for our 4th anniversary and the food wasn't good. not for the price. The ceasar salad was better then the meal and the price for the salad was crazy 20dollars for 2 people for a salad. We left and I went and got a pizza and it was better then the meal.
We had a coupon for my husband's birthday and decided to give it a try as we had theatre tickets for a show nearby. We were delighted and wondered why it had taken us so long to dine at Bistro Romano. The ambience in the lower level is cozy and quiet (we had a booth--I don't know if the noise level is different elsewhere in the room). Our waiter was attentive and friendly and tried to be mindful of our time constraint. The house-made lobster ravioli were outstanding-large chunks of lobster in a delicious sauce and our semi-freddo dessert was fantastic. Give it a try-you won't be disappointed.
The service here was marvelous from hostess to server. Everyone worked as a team to make sure we had everything we could possibly want or need. The food was fabulous and there was an amazing wine selection. When we return to Philly we'll definitely be back!
On my open table reservation I marked that it was for my anniversary. We were led to a cozy, intimate table sprinkled with rose petals and romantically decorated. It was so perfect and I really appreciate the detail that went into making our night special. Our waiter, Florian, was helpful, kind and very skilled at his job. We will keep coming back and recommending to everyone!
Our dinner was ok but not really flavorful. Salad at $10 was incredibly small, italian fish stew was rather bland with "pea" sized scallops, and the filet and mashed potato were ok, especially at this price point. The seating for this restaurant is in the basement. Server was attentive.
