Bistro Romano Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful time visiting this restaurant for the first time during Restaurant Week! The ambiance is magnificient, and I was mesmerized as we were led to the lower level of the restaurant. The mozzarella salad had a great presentation and all the ingredients were fresh. My lobster ravioli were delicious (I could have eaten a double portion), and the cannoli that I chose for dessert was wonderful! All in all, a great experience! Will definitely return for a special occasion.
Out of 120 restaurants lined up for restaurant week, we decided to go with Bistro Romano and I'm glad we did! The restaurant was very nice with a rustic feel, soft lights and some very nice music playing. Service was quick and courteous, checking on us from time to time. The food was delicious, having been flavorful and filling. I honestly feel this is a great place for anyone looking to dress up and experience something more elegant or just a nice place to relax and eat after a long day's work. Would certainly dine here again!
We were there during Restaurant week, visiting from out of town. That's not a fair time to gauge a place with a prix fixe menu so you may not get the dish that drew you to the place. The waiter was a bit stressed, understandably, but the ambience and food was worth a second non-Restaurant week visit some day.
We went there for Restaurant Week unknowingly. It was our first time to Philadelphia and I picked it from reviews on TripAdvisor. They did not disappoint everything was wonderful from the appetizers to the desert. Would definitely recommend it and if we come back to Philadelphia we will definitely there again. The banquet manager took exceptional care of us when she realized that we had waited a few extra minutes for our table.
Our first meal on one of our regular trips to the US. Our biological clocks read 12.30am but the meal and venue were good enough to hold us awake. Food was first rate, service good and not over the top. Portion sizes comfortable for an English visitor. Altogether a great night out. We would happily revisit.
My boyfriend and I were in Philly from New York just for a day to celebrate his birthday. We just quickly googled restaurant for dinner and were blown away by the quality, and amazing experience we had at Bistro Romano. The food, the service, and the entire atmosphere made it the perfect night for us. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to come and dine here!
We have known of this place for years but always favored other Italian places in South Philly and around town. That being said m, we were very pleased to have had a weeknight dinner out with my wife's mother. We were very impressed with the unobtrusive yet attentive service. While the menu was not overly long, it pitched to its strengths and the quality of the cooking was excellent. Notably, the risotto accompanying the divers scallops was very toothsome. Rich and creamy, yet al dente, as it should be, and not an overcooked puree consistency as too many places prepare it. There was a reasonable list of wines by the glass to accommodate our small group's varied preferences.
The food was was great (I recommend the lobster ravioli). It is a Beautiful historic place. The staff from the hostess to the managers to the person who brought the bread were so nice! However, our server seemed to have an issue. It was Labor day weekend, and they might have been understaffed. They ran out of some menu items, and our server was running around like there was a fire. I didn't see any other server acting that way, so I'm not sure what the issue was, but it did put a damper on what would have been a really nice experience.
We're out-of-towners and this was our first visit. The hostess and bartender were very attentive and friendly. We dined in the dark, rustic basement, which is lovely. The place is a converted historic residence, so has an Old World vibe. Very unique. The food is very good. We had the Caesar salad for two; it's prepared tableside, which is a good show. It is no overstatement to declare that this was the best Caesar salad we've ever had in a restaurant! If you go to Bistro Romano, you absolutely must get this (assuming you enjoy Caesar salad, of course). For our main dishes we each had the Calamarata, which is a play on zuppa di pesce (basically the original, Italian version of Cioppino) with pasta shaped like calamari slices (hence, "Calamarata"). This was delicious. Our sole complaint was that our server seemed tense and out of sorts. The GM, however, was very gracious and even shared a limoncello with us after dinner. It's his own concoction. Nice touch. Overall, a very memorable dining experience.
This was the best first date I've ever had, what an amazing experience! The ambiance was ethereal! The staff is extremely attentive, well mannered, and friendly! THE FOOD IS TO DIE FOR! The Fried Calamari is an absolute must!!!!!!! I must say I'm impressed!!!!
Great Ambiance and excellent food. Really nice for dates or special occasions. Service was overly done to the point of annoying. No less than 10 interruptions to add an ounce to our water, and then hustling wine sales. Joked that we are bringing a do not disturb sign next time. And there will be a next time!
I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. Neither one of us are very fond of the city, so we had never been to Bistro Romano. Needless to say, we both had a wonderful experience and would definitely return for another special occasion. The ambience was unique. It was dimly lit, but there are candles on every table for a romantic, intimate vibe. There was aslo a live piano player on the top floor; I don't recall him stopping the entire time we we're there.
I love bistro Romano! Their quality has been consistent for the past 13+ years I've been dining at their fine restaurant. The manager and owner are very detailed oriented and want to make sure they deliver excellent service and memorable experiences. The bar tender has been there for years and is the best! Makes my fav drink just right!
Great staff and food! The salad was made right in front of us beside the table, and our entrees were incredible! It was our anniversary so they set the table with rose petals and golden plates! It was very romantic and the staff went out of their way to give us a special experience. The dessert was hand-made for us with hearts around the plate, something the chef had never done before, but decided to do just for our dish! Definitely a gem staff and restaurant!
