It seems as our server was more interested in the 10top next to us he wasnt very friendly or personal we tried asking a couple questions and he was not much help. We didnt like the caesar salad or the other salad with the mixed green lettuce and spicy sauce. The buffalo mozzarella antipasto was disgusting we couldnt eat it. It was on hard stale bread. The pasta was pretty good and the tiramisu was amazing.
Bistro Romano never fails to please. The restaurant is informal but elegant, with a piano bar and downstairs (lower level) seating [there are some tables in the upstairs bar area]. Food is always top notch. The menu is not wildly experimental and that's just fine because what the chef does he/she does very well. Fish, steak, Italian specialties, outstanding tableside Caesar salad, excellent wine list and terrific service, even down to an "amuse bouche" before the meal and a shot of limincello after. Three decades of consistently pleasing customers shows: we never tire of going nor hesitate to take our out of town friends to one of our favorite places. Highly recommended.
Delicious! Everything was wonderful, fresh and authentic. Our appetizer was the perfect burrata which went especially well with the delicious roasted pepper spread they brought out with the fresh focaccia. My pasta was delicious and my son devoured his filet minion. It was also a great location and after dinner we walked over to Penn’s Landing and then spent some time in the very well-done Korean War Memorial. The Vietnam Memorial was also there, but the Korean one was really a mini-museum exhibit on that war and was well-done. The only issue is that parking is hard to get, so if you drive, be prepared to pay a pretty price for the nearby garage. But it’s worth it to come here.
Great atmosphere, food, and service for a graduation dinner. Can’t go wrong here. We’ll be back again!
wonderful dinner! Michael and his whole staff were great! they gave us the history of the location--it was so interesting. our out of town guests from London really enjoyed it.
We were celebrating an anniversary, and Bistro Romano put out beautiful rose petals for the evening! It was such a beautiful dinner with phenomenal food. Great attentive service, amazing ambiance, and a well deserved title as the most romantic dinner spot in Philadelphia
Bartender Sean was excellent knowledgeable and professional. Calamari, Hanger steak, lobster ravioli, truffle gnocchi was outstanding. Love the ambiance.
City of Detroit cocktails so excellent. Their smoked Cocktails are excellent
Enjoyed a friends bachlorette dinner at Bistro and had a great experience. They were very accommodating. The caesar salad is always amazing. I would definitely recommend it!
I’ve been dining at Bistro for about 10 years, 2-3 times each year. Each time, the food was outstanding & service was exceptional, except for 1 occasion. I wrote of my displeasure & was called by Chris (Manager of Bistro). We discussed my experience & he asked if I would return to give them a second chance. Last night was that “second chance” and it DID NOT disappoint !!! Chris came over to my table & introduced himself at the start of our dining experience. He returned on a few occasions, to check on things. He even allowed us to taste a new appetizer; homemade Ricotta Cheese with seasoned mushrooms & tomato......WOW !!!!! You have to try this amazing dish !!! The main course was superb as was the Caesar Salad. Chris paid attention to every detail of this evening....his thoughtfulness & caring were evident. It wasn’t a show; Chris is a genuine person whose sole purpose is the diners satisfaction. Chris, you and your staff have outdone yourselves !!!!!
Service was spot on, the whole team helped each other. Charming little place. Felt a little overpriced, but not outrageous...
Wait staff was very knowledgeable about what was safe for someone that eats gluten free. They had wonderful suggestions for drinks to accompany our desserts and since it was our anniversary, they sprinkled rose petals on our table.
On a positive note, loved the atmosphere as we came to celebrate our anniversary. Rose petals on table and server was very sweet. Caesar salad was good but our entrees were just okay. Ordered a Pasta and a veal dish. Pasta was watery and lacking flavor, Server offered to send it back and redo but at that point my husband was almost done with his veal so, he just offered to swap and let me have the rest of his veal. Veal was bland, potatoes also watery. Maybe chef that night was off but I was sad expecting to have an amazing meal. They did give us a complimentary dessert which was sweet but we had higher expectations for the food. Manager came over to appollogize . Staff was well trained in front of house just an off night in the kitchen We guess . This was first time here so no comparison.
I absolutely loved the atmosphere and will be coming again. My server was amazing!!
I was here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday for a romantic night. They didn’t cook his steak to his liking how he ordered it medium well and the whole steak was rare. And then when asked if there’s anything they can do for the inconvenience while we waited for his food to come back out, he asked for a beer. We were charged for the beer when we were under the assumption that since they had not cooked the food properly that a drink should be on the house. We were also celebrating his bday and I ordered the tiramisu and they put a candle but did not sing and then also charged us for the cake! I feel that given the steep pricing for the food and for the mistake they made they should have done something on the house for the inconvenience. Our server was also quite snooty and short and I did not like his attitude. Will not be returning or recommending anyone to this place. Not to mention, t’s so dark in there you can barely read the menu!
Just what we wanted for our 35th anniversary dinner; Quiet, romantic, roomy, and great food! I told them when I made the res on open table it was our anniversary and they had the table spread with flower petals! My special cocktail was the bourbon old fashion which had a smokey flavor and not overly sweet, mmm! We had the tableside caesar, Spaghetti bolanaise (SP?) Veal saltumbuca. They were willing to substitute spaghetti for the risotto. I was in an Italian restaurant, I had to have pasta! It was the best ever!
For dessert we shared the hazelnut Semifreddo. He loves ice cream and this was sooo creamy. The 5:30 reservation was perfect for catching an Uber to the Kimmell center for an 8:00 show. Many other choices on the menu that were not necessarily Italian, will go back again...
I was disappointed with the flavor of the main course. They didn’t have many options and the portion size was large. After eatting the appetizer and small salad that was delicious I was expecting a burst of flavor from the main dish that I didn’t receive. The experience was amazing and had such a good time with my date. I would go back for the appetizer and get the salad as my main dish .
We celebrated our anniversary here and will definitely be back. Arrived to flowers on the table. We dined under candlelight. The food was delicious and our waiter was wonderful ... everyone was. I highly recommend.
Service and food were fantastic!
We love every time we stop into this amazing restaurant. The Lobster Ravioli is the best!
Bistro Romano was offering the “Do not cook” special. The food was very good and nice portions with a fair price. Service was excellent. Staff very attentive.
Wonderful food and exceptional service! Lobster ravioli and chocolate cake with ricotta buttercream filling are a must! Caesar salad made table side will be a hit with any Caesar aficionado (or just anyone who like a good fresh salad 😊). Very romantic ambiance.
Awesome again this place is a can’t miss always so much fun before and during dinner again always an amazing experience thanks so so so so good!!!!
Had a great meal and I didn't have to cook.
Excellent ambiance, especially in downstairs (basement) dining. Waiters worked as a team and were very well coordinated. Both our fish and pasta dish were excellent. Good vibe.
We had a great meal at an awesome restaurant. The seating area is in the basement with exposed bricks that are 100’s of years old. The food was amazing. Home made pasta and the grill octopus melted in our mouths. Enjoy!
My girlfriend and I had our 6th anniversary dinner here, and I could not have been happier with it. They set the table with gold plates are rose petals (did not ask for it, but it was certainly a nice touch), and the staff was incredibly friendly. The kitchen sent out two complimentary samples for us on account of the anniversary as well. The entire experience was great, and it even exceeded the expectations I had as a returning customer. This place will remain among my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia.
Food was very good. however despite having a reservation and empty table, we has to wait 15 min to be seated in one of the worst locations in the restaurant, outside the noisy kitchen\ serving area. Waiter was efficient- but not friendly, never gave his name. Got the impression they just wanted to get us in and out!
I love Bistro Romano. The food, drinks and especially the service is fantastic. It’s been a staple in my community for a long time . Highly recommend !!
Bristro Romano is a very nice place. Good Wine List. Great ambience . My date had the Salmon and I had the Sclops. Very well prepared, moist and great sauce with them. The octopus was a bit tough and bland, not my like. They offer a good vriety of wines. Over all a nice diner. I will recommend it.
This was a really great promo for Memorial day weekend. Best one ever. Please repeat it.
The service was outstanding. Our waiter, busboy and Manager all worked together to cater to our needs. The Caesar Salad for two, prepared table-side, is delicious and quite a show to watch the preparation. Our entrees, (we both ordered the Brodetto, seafoo stew) were not up to our expectations as we have eaten at Bistro Romano many times before. It was not bad, it just seemed bland, lacking in any distinctive flavor. As it was my wife's birthday, we were comped an after-dinner Limoncello and dessert. The effort was made to be outstanding but the particular entree missed the mark. We will continue to dine here but will stay with the more traditional dishes.
Service was excellent, food tasting amazing, and the restaurant went above and beyond putting rose petals on the table and wishing my girlfriend and I a happy anniversary.
We both had a great time, along with a delicious lobster dinner.
Our server was attentive and professional, as well as the rest of the staff. The ambiance was also very nice.
Great food, awesome service and fantastic decor. Love it
Food is very good but the price was about 50% higher than what i expected.
I wish I could remember our server's name. She was amazing good at her job. We had a delicious dinner, including gluten free house made gnocchi, which were amazing. My friends and I were able to really enjoy each others' company, we were never rushed, even as we ended up being the only people left in wine cellar room.
It's been at least 4 years since we were at Bistro Romano. It was like returning to one of our favorite spots but also going to a new restaurant. Their menu has changed but it remains outstanding. The service is excellent (shout out to Vienna!) and the atmosphere hasn't changed a bit. D
Everything was excellent.. The romantic setting and for was worth the date night. My wife really enjoy the nice romantic atmosphere..
This once was the place I would venture to drive an hour and a half to see. Finally moved to the NJ suburbs outside of Philly and I have no reason not to come more.
I noted on the OpenTable res that it's our anniversary...they decorated the table with rose pedals and gave us candle lit dessert. The waiter and the maitre'd both wished us a Happy Anniversary and made good conversation. Really lovely dinner.
Food was delicious. Table side made Cesar salad, mussels (oh my), Fettucini Carbonara and Duck Breast. So so so good. We're the sharing type of couple and made that known and they kept up with us and multiple plates. It was great. Water service was always around and my wife's spicy Sangria Primavera had a good kick but was smooth.
Thank you for making our night a special one. We'll be back.
