The Restaurant Week Menu has a nice mix of foods to choose from, that makes it easier to find a delicious combination for my meal. And it was delicious, everything that I had. Again a great menu this year. Thanks!

We had an excellent night at Bistro Romano. The service was incredibly respectful, polite, and fast! Everything seemed to flow smoothly. We had an excellent server (Vienna) who gave us delicious recommendations. We were very thankful for her suggestions. The atmosphere was stunning, my fiancée and I would definitely like to go again for a special occasion.

Service was excellent. Loved the ambiance. The waitress was amazing. The mistake is visiting and selecting restaurant week menu. Though the food was good, I would suggest that you stop by a sandwich shop and eat something so you won't arrive really hungry... especially if you order the Rissota... the portions would fit on a bread plate... all three courses.

we made dinner reservations for Friday evening @8 pm as part of the philadelphia center city restaurant week-as expected the restaurant was crowded however we did not anticipate the meal to last 2 1/2 hrs.-the food was good however the service was lacking, unattenative, particularly our main server-our problem began upon requesting validation of our parking ticket-upon presentation to ez park @530 s. 2nd,we were advised that they wouldn't honor the advertized price of $9.00 but insisted on $25.00- we then contacted the restaurant, spoke to a manager? and was advised that they would not reimburse the difference and that Abbotts Sq. parking was not at 530 s.2nd but at 230 s 2nd st and they did nt honor that location-as long time patrons we are disgruntled and disappointed

I’ve been to Bistro Romano many times over the last 25 plus years and have always been seated in the downstairs area. I have enjoyed every minute when seated there. The ambiance and experience has been amazing. This time was definitely a different dining experience. I never thought the bar area was for dining. Well this time I was seated in the bar area with friends who have never been there before. I had raved about the place and wanted my friends to feel the same way. Being seated right beside the bar was not as nice as all of the other times I have been there. It was noisy and definitely not the experience I had hoped to share with my friends. (Yes, I had a reservation made over two weeks in advance, so it wasn’t a matter of having to take what I could get.) It may be because it was restaurant week, or just the luck of the draw, but my recommendation is that you specify you want a table in the lower part of the restaurant to have the best experience possible at this usually amazing restaurant. The bar area may be fine if you’re out for listening to a loud piano and like being in a busy place, but if you want to be able to really enjoy the location, the food, and the people you are dining with, you have got to sit downstairs. Otherwise, go see if a restaurant around the corner has a better seating option. You won’t get what you’re paying for by being seated near the bar.

Food and service are always great. Was there on a date night with my husband Asked to be sat downstairs and nothing was available. We were sat next to the bar where a very noisy crowd was waiting for their tables downstairs. They left and then the piano started. The entire dinner was so loud we could barely hear each other speak. I noticed that all the tables near us were having the same problem. I will definitely return to Bistro Romano, but will only sit downstairs. There is absolutely nothing romantic or special about having to yell at each other.

The wait time was crazy: we were 10 minutes early for our reservation, but waited 50 minutes to be seated. My wife wondered if the delay was because it was Philadelphia Restaurant Week. But that’s what got us out there, so I can’t complain if that was the reason. The staff was courteous and apologetic, but not overly so (which I mean as a compliment).

Once seated, they gave us a calamari appetizer on the house as a peace offering. It was unexpected, welcome, and delicious. The food was off the charts, and service very good. Very cool restaurant, and we would return.

My wife and I are "foodies". We especially like restaurant week and use it as an opportunity to discover "new favorites" to add to our list of frequented establishments. I was disappointed in Bistro Romano and not because of the matre d' or the support staff as they were both very accommodating. Our water glasses were frequently filled and staff were ever present. However, the food and the portions were very disappointing. We started with appetizers. I had the escarole soup and quite frankly it was far too watery and absent any sausage and minimal flavor. My wife had the crab dip and she found it to be fine. Our entres were lackluster. I had the black bass and the portion was extremely meager - a very small and bland piece of fish. The fenel sauce was ok and the asparagus a bit overcooked. Her rissotto was dry and sticky. Our waiter was very nice but spent an inordinate amount of time with the couple next to us. He took away my wife's wine glass requiring us to ask for another glass from another waiter. This is a charming restaurant with considerable help but probably should not participate in restaurant week as they seem to miss the point of putting themselves out there by making a good initial impression and winning folks over for future and repeat business. Will probably give it another try but it missed an opportunity to win over a future steady customer that would add it to its list of "go to" restaurants.

I've been wanting to come here for a few years and it didn't disappoint. Thankful we came for restaurant week so we enjoyed 8 dishes off the menu (4 pp) in one sitting. Everything was delicious- pasta, soup, dips, desserts. The sundries tomato pesto they bring with the bread basket was also a delicious surprise.

Just returned from an anniversary weekend to Old City, Philly. Found reviews for this restaurant and thought it had what my wife and I liked. This place lived up to, and exceeded the posted reviews. We arrived 15 min early for res, so we took a seat at the bar. Very personable bartender. Our table was ready in short order. We were seated and tended to immediately. We started with a crab spread and toast. Delicious! Not too salty, very creamy, and the crab was fresh. My wife ordered scallops over risotto. Tender, mild scallops without any of the iodine taste evident in many scallop dishes. I had the veal saltimbocca. Tender filets with prosciutto, cheese and diced tomato. A wine demiglaze topped it off. Tasty, and properly balanced accompanied by whipped potatoes. A very well done dish. We enjoyed a side of broccoli rabe with red peppers. Fresh, vibrant, and not bitter. For dessert, which we took to go, we had a creamy cannoli, and said my wife, “the best tiramisu I’ve ever tasted.”
The staff were professional, courteous, and properly attentive.
Whenever we make a return trip to Philly, we will revisit this fine spot to sample more of the menu.

I have been to this restaurant numerous times over many years, never had a bad meal. Recently updated the menu, we the roasted beets and mussels as appetizers, the Bordetto and the Tagliatelle with truffles as our entrees all was very good. Great wine list with affordable prices.

Sadly, this time --and we've been there many times -- Bistro Romano really disappointed. The special pasta with black truffles was glue-like and the truffles were hard, dry slices of it-might-as-well-have-been-shoe-leather. Even the classic caesar was lack luster. The two other entrees were fine, but nothing to rave about. Missing from the menu was the white lake fish that is usually so good, and one of our party's favorites.

Too rushed but it was New Year’s Eve! We waited 45 minutes even though we had a reservation! Food overall was very good but, for example, holiday menu included “scallops” (plural) as an appetizer and we literally were served one (1) scallop each...that is “scallop” (singular) where I come from (haha). We will go again but not on a holiday!

Our server was very attentive. The food was great. We had the 5 course New Yesrs Eve prefix menu. We wanted the N.Y. strip steak so spent a little extra for it. Every course was fabulous. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. This was our second time visiting and we will be back.

This is my 3rd. New Years Eve celebration dinner at Bistro. I was surprised by the long wait for food and the small portions. I realize it was a "price fixe" menu, but was still somewhat surprised. I've been to Bistro for dinner on about 8 previous occasions; the food was plentiful and the service was excellent. I was a little disappointed this visit.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Philly for the weekend and we wanted a good quality but still reasonably priced restaurant for Saturday night dinner. Bistro Romano exceeded our expectations.
The food was delicious (chicken Milanese for me, salmon for him).
The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was perfect for a cold winter night. We were seated in the lower level, and the romantic lighting, brick walls, and back corner booth made us feel instantly warmed.
I'd absolutely return to Bistro Romano, and would quickly and eagerly recommend it to anyone visiting Philly.

The food was fantastic as usual however this night was particularly odd with the lack of service. We a 7:45 reservation and were seated at 8:40... almost an hour later. Our server was very rude, didn’t greet and simply said “what are you having” at his first greet to the table. Having been a server myself I understand being in the weeds but there is no excuse for such rudeness! Giving him the benefit of the doubt we continued with our meal but even after the restaurant slowed down his attitude remained cold. Although he tried to act kind as he dropped off the check (forgot to remove the item he forgot they were out of- didn’t notify us until 20 mins after we ordered it) it was still a memorable bad service evening. Bravo to the chef- no kudos to the server. Shame.
