We have been to Bistro Romano a handful of times now and keep coming back for more. We were celebrating a birthday, and the entire staff made sure that our night was special. We love the house wine, caesar salad and spaghetti! Two very minor drawbacks were the portion sizing on the fish entree, and the salad being slightly off (too much dressing and croutons were stale). But other than that, we loved it. We'll be back!
Been here several times and keep coming back. Got engaged here and this trip was to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. Best caesar salad I've ever had, best bolognese I've ever had, and the best cannoli I've ever had. Also they offer wine flights which was awesome. My wife and I had a great meal and an even greater time. I love the atmosphere and ambiance. We'll be back again for sure. Also when I made the reservation I mentioned it was for our anniversary and there were rose petals scattered on the table. I really appreciate the thought and attention to detail.
We were staying in Center City while visiting our daughter at Bryn Mawr. We had a busy day and were looking for a quiet, cozy place with delicious food to rest our spirits. We walked over two miles from our hotel, and it was worth every step!! We were delighted with Bistro Romano! It was so calming and quiet, and the food was AMAZING. The amuse bouche was a pea-asparagus soup that was so amazing, I am still dreaming about it. We had table-side caesar (DELISH), fish and pasta as our main courses. The food was a knockout (and I am a food blogger, so very hard to impress)! My husband had three mixed drinks-- they were excellent, and my pinot noir paired perfectly with the lobster ravioli. We just wish we could come back next weekend!!
Server: Eliana did an outstanding job. The bottle of wine she recommended was excellent and the food was equally excellent.
What a great place to eat. We went for our anniversary and it was perfect. The food was delicious, service was excellent and wonderful ambiance. I would highly recommend Bistro Romano for date night or any special occasion. We will definitely be back!
It was a 50th birthday celebration. We had a great time. We made sure to get here early so we
Could sit at the bar. Love the decor and history of the bar and whole restaurant. We were seated downstairs and loved the ambiance! The food was really good. Our service was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant. It was our third time here in the last year.
Everything was on point! Table was ready on time. Waitress and waiters where fabulous. Food was amazing. The People who took reservations wasn’t detailed oriented. I reserved seats for two 10 days in advance. I requested a quite romantic seat without heavy traffic. My seat was right at the bottom of the steps with a tiny table & traffic from all directions. I called two twice requesting good seating. Both people said it was noted. Lack of detail from beginning to end. Other than that, everything was nice.
Loved our experience at Bistro Romano! Had a small wait for our reservation but that was ok because we were able to grab a drink at the bar and enjoy the live piano music. We were taken downstairs to our table and the ambiance was very romantic and different than most places. We started with the tableside caesar salad which was delicious, split the pasta carbonara as our second course, and then I had the pork chop and my fiance had the duck--both were delicious. Prices were reasonable and the wine list was extensive--it was hard to choose! Overall a great meal--we will be back.
Bistro Romano has been around for a long time. It's a wonderful restaurant. The tableside Caesar salad is not to be missed. Although mostly Italian I had their strip steak which was served steakhouse-style, sliced. It came with small roasted potatoes and was as good as some of the best steakhouses in Philadelphia and New York. Quiet but not dead. Highly recommended.
P.S. We parked for free on-street.
Outstanding food and service. All team members assisted each other not just our waiter. We have been to Bistro Romano before and keep coming back.
We loved the intimate atmosphere at this bistro. The food was quite good and the service was amazing. Our primary server, Michael, could not have been more pleasant and attentive.
Outstanding! From the original rafters and beams, exposed brick and stone, to the attention to detail, full staff, generous portions, and more! You will not regret giving this restaurant a shot.
Food and ambiance were unbelievable, although felt as though we were a little rushed through our meal. Would like to go back and try again.
The food was much below my expectations, our server brought the food late .
The lobster ravioli had tooo much sugar taste in it .
Over all will never go back their .
Celebrated Easter with the family. The courses were spaced nicely and were served perfectly.
Been here a few times and it's always delicious. Service is great as well.
The food, setting, and staff were phenomenal! I made a reservation for our anniversary and they did an excellent job setting a romantic mood with rose petals on the table. Everything we ordered was excellent but the caesar salad really was above and beyond. It's made right at the table from scratch! The wait staff were very friendly and attentive, and made great recommendations.
Once again had a great meal and service. Been here many times and have never been disappointed.
It was a great experience, the food came out very quickly and was cooked deliciously!
The food was good and the staff was great. I definitely would go back!
Tables are too small
Website doesn’t reflect current menu
Wait for food was too long
Our waitress, Elena was AMAZING!! She got the food out quickly, and our drinks were never empty. She was very sweet, and put 100% effort into memorizing the menu. I highly recommend to everyone!
The restaurant was very nice and the service was great. The food was very good but the portion of my dinner was poor. I had the sea bass (2 bites), shrimp(2) and little clams(4) for $30.
I had the duck special and it was delicious.
Rustic romantic ambience and food only described as superbly perfect!
Super romantic. He was really impressed.
My wife and I visited Bistro Romano several years ago on a personal trip. While in Philly for a conference, I recommended it to my boss and several co-workers, and Bistro hit it out of the park again. Incredible setting, from the ornate bar upstairs to the wine-cellar-like setting downstairs, and the food was just as good as I remember it. The Caesar salad, made table-side, was one of the best I've ever tasted. I loved my Veal Saltimbocca, and others raved about the Spaghetti Bolognese. Wine and service were outstanding as well.
This was an amazing dining experience. Delicious food. Terrific ambience and service. We dine out frequently, and this place is at the top of our list.
Bistro Romano is an absolute gem in Philadelphia! With so many restaurants closed on Mondays, we found this place by accident and some last minuet google searches. The ambience is perfect- ask the host for a brief history of the building. Todd was our server. He knew the menu and wine list front to back and accommodated every request. We are picky eaters, yet nothing disappointed. We split a calamari- perfectly flaky and light with the mustard sauce underneath. Table Caesar salad was yummy - nice mix of tang and sweetness. Anchovies paste and not real anchovies- thank God! Lobster Ravioli was out of this world. HUGE chunks of lobster and as fresh as could be. Veal Saltimbocca was great too. Get the carrot cake! It will make your eyes roll back in your head!!! Pinot Grigio throughout the meal with with double espressos and amaretto to cap it all off. By far, superior to our “usual” Philadelphia dinner place, this place may have just replaced it. And all because they were open on a Monday. Bravo Bistro!
Romantic atmosphere and good food. Celebrated Anniversary. Very nice.
ALWAYS have a FANTASTIC meal here.
The food is FABULOUS. Service is spot on. NOT OVERPRICED!!!!
ONLY place we eat dinner when in Philly.
Always perfect food and customer service! Beautiful, cozy restaurant!
My wife and I have been to Bistro Romano s vernal times over the past few years. The restaurant is one of our favorites. The food and staff are outstanding and the atmosphere is wonderful. We can’t say enough about this place!
Food and service were very good. Our server was a delight and accommodating.
I like the quiet, dimly lit ambience, great service and food.
Great friendly service. The staff was very accommodating, especially with an unexpected medical situation. We live close-by and it's one of our favorite spots to bring visiting friends.
Enjoyed their Tuesday night Lobster Fest. Food is great and the price is
Great restaurant. Food is filling and good. Service is attentive. Staff is friendly. We will be back.
Good food, good service and reasonably priced for Philadelphia. Will definately go there again and will recommend it to friends. Will not get a soda again as long as there is the Philly soda tax.
Excellent in every way that matters to a wonderful dining experience
