Love this restaurant. Food and service is always top notch.
Great wine and gnoochi! Friendly, pleasant staff :)
So glad we celebrated our anniversary here! What a wonderful experience from start to finish - rose petals on the table, champagne, great service (our waitress, bus boys, hostesses, manager, bartenders), food, atmosphere. Cannot wait to return!
Amazing place! We celebrated our anniversary and they made us feel so special! The food was exquisite! Would definitely recommend it to anyone!
Very romantic and great staff! The food was good not huge portions but very flavorful. We will be going again for sure!
The food was absolutely delicious. We had Caesar salad made at the table - done very nicely with lots of description of the ingredients. The calamari was a little tangy and the sauce was creamy - tender and perfectly fried. We tried 4 different pastas and shared - each one was delectable - all handmade and generous portions. The service was friendly and attentive even though they were very busy. We were seated downstairs and it was a bit dark and noisy - no music or flowers. Next time we’ll ask to be seated upstairs - they had a lady playing the piano - a definite plus for me. Overall, a very good choice.
Excellent service, superb wine selection and phenomenal food.
Fantastic as usual! Very tight operation and servers that care!
We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and were treated to a table in the cellar in a romantic little booth. We decided to go with the tasting menu and wine pairings - you will not be disappointed. You get to choose the five courses, and then the bar tender will pair your food with wine. It was a truly lovely experience. Our waiter was just the right amount of attentive without being intrusive. For a tasting menu the portions are quite big, so it's good value but I couldn't finish a few plates. The caesar salad was recommended by a few people on Yelp so we went with that - the waiter makes it at the table - it was fascinating and delicious. If you like food theatre, then definitely order this. All in all, a great meal out with the perfect blend of ambiance and romance!
Had a lovely date with my girlfriend and we very much enjoyed our Tuscany wine
The service was bad but the food was good.
Great evening, great service, amazing food.
Incredible food. Service was excellent. We celebrated an anniversary and the staff made it special.
Very good overall. Lovely food. Great service. Nice decor. Just no “wow” factor
From the moment we walked in the door we were happy then the food just sent us to heaven. You must get the Caesar salad and the gnocchi was the absolute best I have ever eaten. Ambiance was so romantic and the service was incredible. Did I forget to mention the short rib croquettes?!!!!
The food and service at Bistro Romano is fantastic!! Check this place out.
Great atmosphere downstairs. Definitely going for the wine cellar table next time!!! Food was excellent, hopefully Branzino will be on the menu for good. Hint hint...
Wonderful meal celebrating our son’s 21st birthday. Food was incredible as always
The food was delicious, service was great , the waitstaff was excellent.
15th wedding anniversary
We LOVED our visit to Bistro Romano! The atmosphere was lovely. The service was wonderful. But outshining both was the food! My husband is a very picky foodie. He said this was one of the best meals he had ever had. I still dream of the gnocchi. Enough said.
Incredible atmosphere. Very intimate and enjoyable. The gnocchi was out of this world. Must recommend. 10/10
Oh my gosh. This restaurant is a philly treasure. The wait staff? Fantastic. The ambiance? Like your Italian grandmother’s home. The Gnocchi? To die for. I kid you not I could have taken a nap on the gnocchi, that’s how pillowy and delicious it was. I would pack the gnocchi in my knapsack, hike 30 miles into the wilderness and then make camp on a mountain, but as long as I had this gnocchi as my pillow I would be A Ok.
I've been here a few times the food is always good with large portions. I came during restaurant week this time most of the food was good. The only gripe I had was the dessert wasn't as good this year. The chocolate for the cake was a bit over cooked and the lemon tart tasted much too sour and I say this as some one who really likes sour things. The lemon filling was more like lemon curd then a tart filling
My waitress was amazing. I ate off the restaurant week menu. The amuse was good. I loved the short rib croquette. I would get this again and again. The lobster ravioli was just ok. The pasta was terrific but the lobster was over cooked. My focaccia was burned. Desert left a lot to be desired. Very romantic place. The waitress and the atmosphere would keep me coming back.
Our waitress Vanessa was FANTASTIC! We tried the Bellini flight because none of us have ever seen that kind of thing offered before and it was worth it. Their restaurant week menu was fantastic, we will definitely be returning!
We had excellent service. It was restaurant week so the value was good. The Branzino was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal, ambiance, and service.
So pleased we stumbled upon this gem. Set in a 1700s grainary with lots of amazing wood and stone walls. Each course was outstanding. My favorite, although each was delicious, was the roasted octopus dish. It was my first time sampling octopus and it was Incredible! Tender! Delicioso! You will not regret your experience here. Bravo to the owner (who comes tableside to ensure satisfaction) and the chef. Bravo!
Great food and great service! Will definitely recommend
Food was excellent. Service was a bit slow and had to ask multiple times for basic item(water, bread, wine). Ambiance was great. We had a reservation but they could not seat us for 30 minutes which was really odd. If it weren’t for the exceptional food it would not be worth the price tag.
Visited for restaurant week after not being at this restaurant in, believe it time not, 30 years! Experience was beyond my expectations. Thank you Michael and staff for a very enjoyable evening and I can assure you we’ll be back again soon.
They did an amazing job and went all out to make sure our anniversary dinner was perfect! Food was amazing from the bread at the beginning until the dessert at the end.
Love, love, love.
I will return to get a better idea of this restaurant. Very charming inside. We had theater tickets for 7 pm and arrived at the restaurant at 5:20. The waitress said we would only have time for one course given that we wanted to leave at 6:45. Drinks were very slow coming. Didn’t have our order taken for a long time. Food was good but certainly not great. We just made it to the show on time. I would like to return when there are no time constraints.
Great food, amazing atmosphere, but only average service.
I put it was our anniversary in the reservation and they accommodated to no end! The placed us in a great spot with rose Petals, candle and champagne for the both of us. Everything was perfect and our server Cait was extremely knowledgeable and friendly!
The food and the service were both amazing. We were there during Restaurant Week and ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. Usually these sort of menus offer you three choices. The menu here had at least 10 choices for first and second plates. The portions were very generous, especially the strip steak. I wound up sending my daughter home with dinner for the next night.
The restaurant was packed, yet the service was personable. We really enjoyed our dining experience and will certainly be back the next time we visit Philly.
Went here during restaurant week of Sept 2019. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the gnocchi and lobster bisque. My girlfriend had a salad and lobster ravioli with sangria. House wine flight was also a steal. Service was outstanding. 10/10 would come again.
Very solid restaurant with extremely attentive staff, which is usually tough during restaurant week. The food was extremely delicious, and while I wish the portions were larger when enjoyed with all 5 courses its an extremely complete and filling meal. We were also provided with some complementary beverages, which also tasted rather good. The gin lemonade I got had a bit too much ice but that's about the only downside to a very great meal and space that they had available. Not much noise, but cozy enough to talk, dim lighting but perfect for a sultry mood or noir vibe if that's your thing. Perfect for dates, would come again.
