Service was spectacular and the food was even better!
My wife and I were in town for an event at the Academy of Music and stopped here afterwards. We love Bistro Romana and have always had great meals there. Our waiter was rather brief and did not explain very much about the evenings specials, while we heard other waiters go into lengthy explanations of the menu items. He just wasn’t very personable...maybe just an off night for the guy. Nevertheless it didn’t detract from our dining experience in any significant way. We’ll be back!
Wow what a find - loved this place!! Highly recommend.
The staff was extremely attentive to detail. You could tell that they cared about how well your experience was with them. The food was excellent! Looking forward to returning many times in the future.
It’s not fair to a restaurant to have a first visit decided by social media reviews. Having said that, searching on line I discovered bistro Romano is listed as one of the most romantic Italian restaurants in the city..
We loved the intimate bar, with great Carisma. Bartenders were busy yet attentive.
We grew bit concerned when we past our reservation time.
At the 20 minute mark I inquired about seating. Hostess stand seemed complexes that I was still in the bar area waiting. Manager happen to come bye at same time and fortunately found sitting for us.
The chef selection was our choice and we were not disappointed. Enjoyed every bit of it!
Servers were busy but took time to be fun and attentive.
Table for two was a big cramp along the wall more like a luncheon Café in a restaurant. That would probably be our only issue. Would not like to sit at such a small table if I return
One of our favorite spots in the city. Service, food, ambiance....it's all there.
Felt like we were in Italy! Great food and wine selections!!
They stuck us right at the table right by the main door and behind the wine cases. Constantly had to keep moving my seat for waiters to get bottles of wine. I have been to bistro Romano before and was able to get chicken with my gnocchi dish before and this time the waitress said you can’t do didn’t understand that. Overall was expecting a lot more experience and good wise for the the price.
Service was great, ambiance was excellent and the food was outstanding.
My wife and I went to Bistro a Romano for the first time recently. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food despite being a little hesisrant given the menu choices. The service was good and the food was above average. I would not do the Caesar- it was nothing special. Both of our pastas were excellent and our dessert was good. One thing I will say is that you do not get a lot. My pasta was 24 dollars and was still quite hungry after dining. It was way overpriced especially given all of the good Italian options that the city has to offer. Overall a nice experience but a little too pricey to be coming back any time soon.
Loved the atmosphere! Would go back for drinks and appetizers but not a main meal.
Overall the experience was very nice, however the restaurant should lose a couple of of tables in a high-traffic area in front of the wine cellar. My fiancee and I were constantly being bumped by patrons and service personnel trying to squeeze between tables. I very much like this restaurant, but you don't want to get assigned to the wrong seating. I realize it was a busy Valentine's Day weekend, but there is a limit to how much jostling you should have to endure while dining.
Service and food was top notch
Amazing! I’d most def recommend.
We made reservations for 8 on the dot at what i could only describe as, “the most romantic restaurant in Pennsylvania” because that’s what PhillyMag called it so I naturally i booked a time a month and half ahead to avoid any conflicts and/or pressure to book a Valentine’s Day dinner the week of Valentine’s Day. Anywho, they checked our coats at the door and i didn’t have to wait for my ticket, so you know it was fancy. They immediately led us to a table in the cellar and let me tell you after seeing the ambiance, i was a Buyer. The coat check ticket lady later seamlessly found our table by walking up every aisle until she ran into us, fantastic. We order a 2014 Rodney Strong Symmetry; a Meritage, mix of grapes and usually reserved for sale on the vineyard. The waitress delivered and so did the vino. The blend had a 3 minute nose; an early nose, one which would arrive a full 3 minutes prior to the face. A term I could only know from my dear friend “The K”. The nose immediately stuffs your senses like the wood base to a chalkboard collecting dust in Newtown, pa. Immediately halting the senses. The short rib ragu gnocchi was so good it would make you want to punch your mother. If Joyce herself walked into the restaurant i would have caught her on sight with a right cross so quick they would call me pontius Pilate. One bite of this ragu and I’ll be autographing photos 20 years from now of me standing over Joyce in the center of the restaurant with my right arm over my chest like Ali over Frazier. Either way, that’s not even the long and the short of it. Next up were the filet medallions, and let me just tell you that the medallions were reckless, it felt like a midget was hanging from my necklace. Come time for desert our waitress spilt a bit of the sheesh on the tablecloth to which i politely would ask if they would ring it out into my mouth. They would not.
Best food we ever had for a magical Valentine’s Day!!!
Great ambiance and amazing food. What a great Valentines dinner
7th or 8th time here. This time it was ehhh. Very crowded in front of the wine cellar. The candied beets were probably from a can. The lobster bisque was cold and was sent back by my wife the table next to us and another table we noticed as well. Chef thought it to be a great idea to have chilled sour cream in a bowl with soup poured over making it less than luke warm.
It was excellent in every way. I was unaware that it was a pre-fixed menu for this special holiday - but that worked out fine. Wonderful food and wonderful combinations.
We felt a little rushed - but maybe that was just us.
Everyone was friendly the food was delicious the hospitality was incredible we appreciate your service my wife was very happy we spent her first birthday there I’ll be back thanks for everything.
We went for Valentine’s Day, and it was a fixed menu. It was about 90$ per person, which seems like a lot, but neither of us expected it to be such an experience. The food was outstanding from presentation, taste, and porportion. The whole experience makes it worth everything. Such a great place for a date with your significant other!
My boyfriend and I came to Bistro Romano to celebrate his birthday. This was an absolutely perfect choice. From beginning to end the service was impeccable. A little overbooked on a Saturday night, we had to wait about 10-15 minutes at the bar and wait for our table. The bartenders were personable and friendly. Sitting next to the piano player was a real treat that we would have missed out on if we had been sat straight away. The table-side Caesar salad was incredible! Fresh ingredients and friendly staff. When I say that the gnocchi is delicious, it's such an understatement. It melts in your mouth. A delicate yet, flavor packed morsel that leaves you with not only a clean plate but, a full stomach, and a feeling of earth-bound ecstasy. I'm not exaggerating, it is really that good. Do yourself a favor, make a reservation TODAY.
Great place for a romantic date. She won’t be disappointed.
Service was good..Food was very tasty and the ambiance was great...would definitely recommend..Only down fall is parking...I had to pay 20$ to park in parking lot which was a block away from restaurant..
Amazing food, wonderful service and a great atmosphere
I would most certainly recommend Bistro Romano to everyone. The meal was excellent, the wine selections were fairly extensive, the service was outstanding - very attentive without being obtrusive - and the ambiance was just right. Plus the location in the Queens neighborhood projects a smaller neighborhood atmosphere with plenty of parking available in the area. It was not the first time visiting Bistro Romano, and it certainly won't be last!
This night was extremely memorable for me. The addition to the menu was a coffee encrusted wagyu beef short rib. I have never had a better cut of beef, taste and texture was exquisite.
I now have another level to grade my meals on.
The braised short rib was excellent. It was possibly one of the better meals I've ever had
Went to Bistro Romano for the 1st time tonight and were totally impressed. Bistro Romano was excellent in all areas. The food was perfect. Creative specials and regular menu choices were all great. Service was spot on. Attentive, without being intrusive, friendly, and knowledgable. Nice ambiance, especially downstairs with original stone walls, and nicely set up tables to provide privacy without sitting on top of other diners. Extremely friendly staff. Kudos to Shawn the bartender, Brandon, and Jack, our server. They all made our dining experience enjoyable. We will return, and highly recommend Bistro Romano.
We had a great dinner and service was excellent. We have been there quite a few times and always enjoy everything about Bistro Romano. We come up from AC and there are no restaurants that can compare to Bistro. Tell the old bartender we said hello, he will understand. I asked about the young bartender who we talked to last time there and he said what am I the old bartender. We laughed and then I got picked on. Our compliments to the chief, food is always perfect. We will be coming back soon. Sincerely, Norman & Barbara Karsanac
Bistro Romano is famous for their Caesar Salad which is prepared tableside. We found the salad to be very spicy whereby both the mustard powder and the black pepper were overpowering. For these reasons, the salad was disappointing.
The linguini with pancetta was excellent! The noodles were very light and the pancetta/sun dried tomato sauce was very flavorful. The filet mignon was delicious, flavorful and tender.
First time here, came to celebrate my girlfriends birthday and out of all the choices we had i'm beyond happy that we chose to come here! Dont know where to begin... the atmosphere, food, service, were all outstanding! We had the calamari, lamb shank, filet mignon and Tiramisu and everything was DELICIOUS! I would HIGHLY recommend this place to everybody and definitely plan on returning here again! Our waitress Kaitlyn was outstanding, and was very attentive and knowledgeable with the menu! Had a wonderful time!!!
Honestly, Bistro Romano never disappoints. We went one time and loved it so much, we decided to go back and bring the family along. It was a hit again. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and the extensive wine list. The live piano player contributed to the great atmosphere. And the food was as good as ever. A+
We had a nice dinner at Bistro Romano. The food was delicious, portion sizes appropriate and the wine flight a nice option. Make sure you keep some layers on as the cellar was quite cold during our visit.
Went to Bistro Romano with a couple of friends for dinner, have been several times and it's always a great meal--our server was excellent, very courteous and professional--would definitely recommend and will return
My boyfriend and I went here for our 4 year anniversary and it was very romantic. They gave us our own corner of the restaurant and put rose petals and candles on the table. The food was amazing and our waitress was great! I hope to go back there in the future.
Get the Gnocchi! It's amazing. Everything we had was great. The waiter was very attentive but also respected our wanting to chat and not be rushed. We enjoyed the evening!
As usual, Bistro Romano was excellent. The food, the staff and the almost grotto-like lower dining room make for an exceptional meal.
