In chrono order, greeter/server was overly informal in both appearance and demeanor for a resto with an otherwise very pleasant ambiance. Very attractive decor, set-up and floor plan, with high ceilings, nice separation between tables, booths, etc. Bar area, windows and mirrors a plus. "Classic" items noted on mirrors difficult to interpret at first, written entirely in lower case and irregularly spaced. Relatively loud, given the number of occupants, but nice to be among people having a good time and have experience far louder. Service was attentive, at times perhaps overly so. Waitperson extremely pleasant, but difficult to understand, in larger part due to background noise. Salads, bread and desert extremely good. Coq au vin fabulous. Other dishes creditable. Course separation fine, though had to initiate requests for desert menu and coffee. Am planning to return.

Unbelievable authentic French food. Pate and the steak au poivre were some of the best I’ve ever had, if not the best. Pricey bottle list - recommend going by the glass, had a delicious wine and generous pours!

It's wonderful classic French food, beautifully done. My friend wanted to share oefs en gelee--who eats that any more?--and I was reminded of how perfect that can be. The fish in butter sauce was also great--the French really understand butter. And quiet. Great service--we had a really nice evening.

This is an amazing restaurant. Definitely one of our favorites. It is a hidden jewel. You may pass it by without noticing it. This is a MUST try. Everything was perfect. From the attentive wonderful young lady who greeted us, to the drinks and menu presentation, everything was flawless. We tried many dishes and all were wonderful. The escargots, foie gras, summer salad, duck confit are superb. We had the merengue cake with passion fruit mousse - absoltely divine ! And the cocktails - especially the old fashioned and the grapefruit cocktail - am hard pressed to remember many that came close in terms of taste and fortunate mix of textures and sophistication. All in all it was a PERFECT EVENING. Highly recommend the place.

We came here for a birthday dinner and enjoyed a surprisingly stunning meal. The specials menu of French classic recipes not seen anymore in NYC restaurants was very refreshing, and the presentation and execution of all our courses was fantastic; for example: oeuf en gelee! Really-who does that anymore?! It was a beautiful early summer evening and the light of the setting sun set off the charming dining room in just the right way so this was a gorgeous setting for a very memorable meal.

This was my first visit and looked forward to returning to the old Paris Commune spot. It's amazing. The food is really out of this world... Cheese souffle... Frog legs... Black bass... Coq au Vin.... Coconut cake... All outstanding!! The waiter was welcoming and informative. The decor is welcoming and enticing... I will be back!

Drinks came: great. Starters came: excellent. Then we waited 45 minutes to an hour for the mains to arrive. By the time they came, we had lost interest in finishing dinner due to diminished appetite and annoyance at the wait. Sent the food away and asked for a check. AT NO POINT did anyone from management come to apologize or explain. Nothing. The two of us spent over $100 for an incomplete meal. We assumed the kitchen dropped our order. Pity they are such a mess. It happens though. But we will not be back. Too many excellent places in Manhattan. I have NEVER given a 1-star review on this site before.

Everyone was friendly and helpful in explaining some of the more “very French “ dishes. Everything was terrific from the appys to the special coconut pie. Duck special was prepared just right with a lovely side of spring veggies. Their mashed potatoes were so smooth and buttery.

Had brunch at Bistro Pierre Lapin on 8 June and enjoyed it immensely. The food was absolutely delicious - best Eggs Benedict I've ever had; wonderful fruit in season, brilliant bread and baked goods, and a superb mimosa. The Bistro truly is French cuisine at its best. The Bistro is in a lovely corner of the West Village: the vibe is relaxed and elegant, but a little funky too. Gorgeous fresh flowers on all the tables. I will definitely return!

Superlative dining experience! Our personable waitstaff described the many specials available (from traditional to unusual) which were then perfectly served in an unhurried manner. Highlight items included Escargot in a.deliciously green vegetable purée sopped up with fabulous baguettes, duck breast special, and the best poached black bass with a heavenly potato purée. The Pavlova was a wonderful way to finish!

if someone wants to go, i would not discourage, but low value:quality. chef has a higher opinion of himself than warranted; schmoozing at next table, never leaned over just to ask how we were enjoying, simple to do, but Moore apparently uninterested? as usual, wine list severely marked-up over retail, not wholesale price (see more cuisses de grenouille sauce overpowering the frisée & the delicate legs, simply not refined. the blanquette de veau served in a smallish cereal-like bowl, small amount of veal, as if more of a l'entrée -all for $29!! the steak frites overcooked, no taste, frites soggy. and, somewhat bizarre to those going, the côte d'agneau, 1 chop $21, 2 for $39 - really, what a deal. why is it restaurants go out of their way to insult their clientele??? it's like serving a small helping of the cheapest item - french fries, but they do! very few decent "bistros" in Manhattan unfortunately he hasn't a clue. might as well rename "restaurant peter rabbit"! NYT probably accurate with its 1* review in Feb 2019, which described a classique, such as their cassoulet as thin & soupy - a no-no. not sure of Moore's "french" credentials, if any, but i t would serve him well to take a few french cuisine courses!!!

We travel to France once a year and this little gem bright back great memories of the fine food in France. The menu had lots of options from fish to beef to duck - all prepared with fresh vegetables. The potato au gratin was excellent. I had lamb and my husband duck both cooked perfect. The butter, the pate’s, desserts all made in house We can’t wait to return.

I live in the neighborhood and have walked by this place numerous times. The clientele always seems surprisingly old for the neighborhood. I decided to give it a chance anyway, and now I know why they attract such an old clientele. The music is sooo dated (a mix of music from the 1940s-early 1970s), the service is pretentious and the food was mediocre. I was so disappointed, since I wanted to like this place.

It is a tight place: small chairs, small table, lots of people. I went on Mother's Day with my mother due to a blog recommendation but was disappointed. The items that I chose on their online menu were not present on the menu provided on location. I was looking forward to avocado yogurt (never tried that!) and Croque Madame instead I settled for deviled eggs and steak hache. Fyi steak was medium, make sure to ask if you want it well done because they won't. Sparkling water is expensive. On top of that, the waiter we had started behaving oddly towards me during the second half of our lunch by avoiding eye contact, quickly running away and refusing to even put his name on the receipt. Instead we had 'Julia' printed but the waiter we had was male. All in all I spent $170 with tips.. I think there might have been better places to take my mother that offered better ambiance with that amount spent...

What a lovely and divinely delicious spot. The service was great, and we are never an easy table, as was the food starting with the warm soft on the inside perfectly crusty on the outside baguette served with butter, truffle butter and foie gras. I had a big beautiful flavorful salad, one of the best I’ve had...ever, with tender lettuce fresh peas radish and sunchokes with a light but tasty vinaigrette, and the mushroom tagliatelle which was SO good I will dream about it the pasta was perfectly cooked and sauced and full of a variety of mushrooms. Sadly my table did not want dessert so I passed. I will be back but in the meantime cannot recommend Bistro Pierre Lapin enough.
