Outstanding food and excellent service. Will go back often. Good view of the lake from the dining room.
We had a last minute reservation for 12 guests and service was slow. The food came in shifts of 3 to 4 plates and some were done eating before others received their food.
Way to cold inside
Everything was wonderful! Enjoyed dinner.
We enjoyed an Anniversary dinner there of Friday night. Everything was wonderful, great service, delicious dinner, beautiful music and view from the patio!
Wonderful romantic place the music was lovely on the porch all round wonderful dining experience
Great menus and very attentive staff.
Sat on the outside patio. Live music was great. Very loud group of women next to us. Too bad they weren’t considerate to the gentleman singing. All n all was very happy and will definitely be back.
We always enjoy the Bistro. The location is one of the high points for me. Their food is very good.
Service and food were excellent! Anne was out server and she did a great job.
We have been coming here for the last 3yrs during Krasl Art Fair on The Bluff. The meal and service is always very exceptional. Sat outside on balcony and enjoyed the off shore breeze on a hot day.
The restaurant was under staffed. This was surprising because the Art Show was going on and management had to know there would be an increase in patrons.
Food is heavy, too many heavy rich sauces in every dish. They couldn’t find our reservation so they put us in the back room, very isolated. Out waiter maybe had too many tables because they must have him out unexpected party of 8. He was very nice but Service was slow.
Food was adequate. Service less than average.
We had expected a nice meal, but was disappointed.
We got seated immediately but then had to wait awhile for our waiter to take our drink order. Bumpy start but ended up having great service and a delicious meal!!!
Service was slow.. our salads were delivered AFTER the main courses came,, 1 guest in our party got his meal AFTER we had eaten, due to a mix up in the kitchen.. ordered a mule, which was horrible and had to be returned...the food was just OK.. very small portions,, definitely not worth the price..food was served lukewarm, at best..
Server was polite...the restaurant itself is nicely decorated, horrible parking situation..
Not worth a second trip-
Server was horrible. Missed opportunities for more cocktails as well as dessert.
I dined here the evening before a large art fair was in town. I was seated on the balcony outside, along the railing. This was the perfect spot to both people-watch and see the artists set up their booths. There was also a musician performing on the balcony, which added to the ambiance. My waiter, Chris, was very nice. He helped me select an appetizer, Hot Honey Cauliflower w/blue cheese mousse, and it was delicious. I would recommend sharing this as it was a VERY generous serving. I also had the Chili Rubbed Shrimp. You order these by the piece so you can get as many (or few) as you would like. This is one of my choice restaurants in St. Joseph and I would highly recommend it.
What a wonderful find in downtown St. Joseph! We’ve been there twice in the past month, and loved it both times. The “small plates” are delicious—don’t miss the gourmet Deviled Eggs!—and so are the salads. Fresh ingredients and friendly service and a beautiful atmosphere.
The outside dinning is a great setting overlooking Lake Michigan and Silver Beach. The food is very good, though somewhat limited menu. The service was very good and the cocktails are excellent.
Waited 30 minutes and still no service. Won’t go back
The Bistro is a nice venue with good food. Their salads are exceptionally good. Our second visit was to celebrate our son and daughter-in-law's wedding anniversary. We were seated promptly and our order taken for wine within about 5 mins. But then, we waited 35 minutes for the wine to be served. I was on my way inside to inquire when I saw her bringing it out. Told us she was waiting on her manager to get the wine... She did a lot of apologizing for delayed service that evening. Not great for 4th of July holiday weekend.
Worked well for a business dinner with my international colleagues.
Compliments to the chef on the steaks - 'better than some Chicago steakhouses'
Food was excellent but, the service was sub par and it took over 2 hours for dinner. The excuse was this was their first busy summer weekend. We had to ask for more water, we had to ask to remove our appetizer plates. Appetizers took over an hour (which they comp for us). We orders desserts to go because we could not take the long pain of service anymore. They ended up giving on of our desserts complimentary too. Food was good. Service people were challenged by slow back of the house.
The food was excellent! We all ordered fish.....salmon, walleye, and catfish. Superb!
Bistro is a very good restaurant. Food is always very good and nice ambiance. Our service was OK, just not top notch; little things like not telling us about the specials and at times lengthy times not checking with us as to whether we needed anything. Overall though this is a restaurant that is under the radar and it shouldn't be!
Loved sitting on the veranda with a gentle breeze on a perfect day. Food was very good.
We had a great dining experience this past weekend. The food was excellent, service was prompt and we had a great table outside. This was a favorite spot of ours, but the food quality seemed to deteriorate at the end of last summer. Whatever changes they made over the winter worked perfectly! This is our favorite spot for a nice dinner in St Joe’s once again.
Great food, great atmosphere, and hostess/waitress!
Our server Chris was amazing! Very helpful with the menu and drink questions. Very attentive! Food was good. We had a party of 11 and no one went without drinks.
We have dinned here in the past and it was good, but not outstanding. There may have been a staff change, because the level of quality and menu selections has risen to a new level. Our starters were great. Our main course was a walleye and also the duck confit and both were excellent. The cocktails were also made perfect. We live a little over an hour from the Bistro, but we will drive back just to dine. The view is also beautiful.
Not the place to go if you’re vegetarian, despite their being menu options for vegetarians. Location is beautiful, unfortunate that food was lacking. Initially gave us old bread that was crumbly and cold. We then noticed the bread was all moldy on the bottom. They brought us new bread - it was also moldy. Third time they brought us warm, fresh rolls that should have been what was brought out to begin with. The view of the lake is spectacular, but I wouldn’t go back.
Service was indifferent and inattentive. We had to flag down the staff for water, coffee refills and the check.
I ordered the scallops with corn and shishito peppers and pork belly. The scallops were cooked perfectly, but the delicate flavor was drowned in a bowl of sweet creamed corn with small pieces of peppers and three small practically burned pieces of what apparently was the pork belly.
Fantastic service, delicious food, super nice and attentive staff. Can’t wait to go back
Great food and amazing service! Looking forward to returning!
Been going to the Mother's Day brunch here for many many years. Won't be going back. That was not prime rib--that was extraordinarily DRY roast beef. Crunchy even! And the crab legs were so saturated in brine that my plate was a puddle.
Very quiet. Lake view. Friendly staff. Prices reflect the quality of food.
Love the menu and eating outside when it warms up.
The food and wine pairing is amazing! They have an extensive wine list and are very helpful in working your way through it.
