Very interesting menu. Enjoyed very much the duck breast with a salad. Escargots were good, but at that price I was expecting 12, not 6. Clafoutis was exceptional.
We love this restaurant. The food is delicious and it combines ingredients in ways you just can’t find elsewhere. Check out the burger menu!

Went with my wife for third time. Always liked the not so usual food choices, 1/2 priced bottled wine on Thursdays, and the fact the restaurant is owned by churches (no tipping, but you can make a donation). The wait staff has always need barely okay. Usually inexperienced and not very attentive. However, I think the restaurant goes out of its way to hire the unemployable, so I am okay with the friendly inexperienced servers. However, for this trip, my wife’s steak was over cooked and her fries cold, so we sent it back. The replacement meal was perfect. That night my wife and I both had stomach problems. The only food we shared that day was her steak dinner and the fruit de mer seafood appetizer. I think one of those made us sick. Needless to say, I doubt we return. I hope no one else has the same experience.

The food is the star of the show. An explosion of gastronomic delights. Chef Ben has an amazing sense for flavor combos. We shared the butternut toast, beet salad and Chilean sea bass special. All great. And very generous portions. Plus the kitchen split the entree at no charge. I couldn’t ask for more. Obviously the ambience is where the restaurant loses ground. But it’s a small concession to pay for the eating experience. We will be back...
What a great place! I was delighted to spend my birthday at Bistro on Main. The food was delicious, the service was great and the mission of this establishment makes it so special ! We will definitely be back.
Excellent food with a nice variety. My only complaint would be the time it took to receive our cocktails otherwise the meal was great. Will definitely be back!
In general, the food presentation was lovely. Although looks count, each one of the four of us agreed that the food was overcooked. Since it was New Years Eve, there was a shortened menu with a price fix of $75.00 pp. We had enjoyed the Bistro previously, and found the food choices better and the food prepared better. We will return to support the restaurant and its culture.

We visited Bisto on Main on New Year's eve based on its being voted #2 French Restaurant in CT. It is a small cafe in the true French style. We overdressed and the word casual is appropriate. Upon arriving, no reservation was found but when we mentioned Open Table, the hostess said that it probably had not been entered in their system. Once taken care of,we asked to be seated on the dining area rather than the bar. After that, our experience was delightful. Service was quick and appropriate, food excellent and the fact that the cost shown on the menu includes tip (except for drinks) made the cost very reasonable. We'll be back but no so dressed up.

This is a 5-star review, but bots often filter out 1- and 5-stars. Bistro is consistently wonderful. Always keep in mind, however, that’s it’s a teaching environment. Our server was awesome but a little overwhelmed at times. He figured it out and the meal pacing was great. The food was excellent. Four of us each had two courses but no room for dessert. Go here for excellent food and to support a good cause!

The recipes are creative and the ingredients are as fresh as can be. Be sure to try something off the daily specials menu: the smoked trout on a potato latke with horseradish cream etc. was spectacular.
I also heartily recommend the lamb tangine.

Outstanding and innovative food. Excellent for both meat and non-meat eaters. Wait staff very accommodating. Wonderful place to dine. Make reservations, though. Very busy. All age levels. Good vibe.

Came to celebrate our anniversary. Fabulous food and very generous portions. We love the idea that they use local farms and breweries to source their delicious food. We will be back!
