Another fabulous enjoyable brunch - never have we not had a delicious meal and wonderful time here. Welcoming staff, Bistro eggs, omelet, breakfast platter, all cooked to perfection! Friendly service, always there at the right time. Fresh fruit and Biscuits, and Mimosas for the finishing touch. A visit to quaint, beautiful downtown Lexington is not complete without a visit to Bistro!
We had a wonderful time at Bistro on Main. There were 9 of us attending a college reunion in Lexington. Service top notch and food was too. I had duck breast which was great. Others had salmon and steak. Ceasar salad fine. Very reasonable wine prices. We asked if splitting the bill would be possible expecting not, but our server said no problem and bills were split by couple and the one single within a minute. Great food, great service and fun - whT more do you want? Highly recommended v
Lunch b4 cousin wedding
Cute restaurant in the middle of downtown, surrounded by local shops and galleries. Food was great, as was service.
I arrived and there was no one at host stand. Over the course of 10 minutes or so of waiting I asked the bartender and two of the wait staff about being seated. They said the owner was the host and went looking for her. When she arrived she said something snarky about me asking her staff about seating. Once seated the service was slow for the first few minutes. Eventually things started working and there were no further problems. It was a nice facility and the meals were delicious.
The chicken was tough and a little undercooked. I did not finish it. Others had the gumbo and salmon and were pleases
Great food and ambience
Service was great. Friendly and helpful
Would definitely like to return.
Took a friend on a brunch date, we were a bit rushed due to class but it was still really fun. The food was fantastic, and the servers were very nice and accommodating. I have a milk allergy, and our stewardess was happy to help me find something without dairy. We were both impressed by their music choice -- trendy, chic smooth jazz. It elevated the "class" of the place quite a bit, but it didn't feel stuffy or imposing. If you're worried about the bar, don't because the restaurant is divided into two sections, a bar side and a dining side. I would particularly recommend the artichoke dip. I paid for it a bit later (cream), but I couldn't resist trying a bite and it was heavenly.
Our family enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch to wrap up our Washington & Lee Parents weekend. The atmosphere, food and service could not have been better!
This is the second time we've eaten brunch here since my daughter started college at W&L. The food was delicious, the atmosphere cozy and friendly, and the service was fast and knowledgeable each time. The Bloody Mary drinks were a great addition to the brunch... We'll be back to try dinner next time!!
My parry and I were refused at the door, despite having a reservation. The hostess did not even apologize or clearly explain why she would not seat us. She simply told us the kitchen was getting ready for dinner and to go to Southern Inn or Taps instead. She acknowledged we had a reservation but that we would not be seated nor were welcome. I had also called only an hour earlier to confirm the reservation so I was extremely confused as to how the status of my reservation’s validity changed in just one hour. They would not even let us sit at the bar briefly to have a drink and not once did the woman apologize for the confusion, inconvenience, or the fact that we were literally being denied our reservation. She did not seem regretful or offer any sympathy. I am livid and very displeased with this experience. The situation made no sense.
My sister and I stopped in while driving through Lexington. The staff was very friendly and the brunch was delicious. We would recommend it.
A relaxing and fabulous brunch! Biscuits and muffins / coffee / mimosas brought to the table as you arrive. Delicious options - we had the encrusted chicken salad and eggs Benedict Florentine - perfect! Great service - always greeted in a warm and friendly manner at this wonderful restaurant. Sun shining in through the windows - bright start to the day!
LOVE this restaurant! Staff was extremely kind and friendly and the food was wonderful! New favorite place!
Fantastic dinner at the Bistro, as always. We were lucky to get a seat in the window to watch all the locals and visitors to downtown Lexington go by.
First time for dinner -- usually there for Sunday brunch -- and it was an excellent meal as always at Bistro on Main.
Always a good time, food is good but not a very large menu. Service was great, very friendly and efficient
Our experience was amazing and we talked about it all the way home. We received individualized attention the entire dinner, had great seating and the food was impeccable. We’ll surely return!
I really wanted to try Bistro on Main for brunch or dinner, but neither we're available while I was in town. The website wasn't specific as to when brunch is available, so I assumed my reservation was for brunch and was very disappointed to find out that it was only on Sundays, which was not indicated on the website. I had not been impressed with the lunch menu as I am gluten intolerant and the lunch menu is comprised mostly of sandwiches, so I was very displeased that my only options were the very limited lunch menu or to simply walk out and find another restaurant. I decided to give the lunch menu a try, even though my only option was a salad, which I could very easily make for myself at home. My husband ordered the chimichanga, which he said was okay, but both of us had to order elsewhere within an hour because we were still hungry. If I could have ordered from 1 of the other 2 menus, I'm sure my rating would be much higher. The waitress also wasn't very kind when I expressed my disappointment. I may return to try dinner or brunch (assuming it really is on Sundays) next time I'm in Lexington, but unless there are some serious changes to the menu, I won't ever be returning for lunch.
Everything was wonderful! From the service to the food!
We arrived a little early and they still made every effort to get us in earlier than our reservation. Bartender was very friendly. Waitperson was knowledgeable. Our meal was excellent although we were a little bit disappointed that they were out of most of the dessert selections. We decided we probably didn’t need dessert anyway. ;-)
Bistro on Main remains my favorite restaurant at which to dine. From the warm welcome by Jackie to the courteous and attentive wait staff, one feels immediately at home. My friend who was visiting Lexington raved about her oyster appetizer; my brie was sublime. We both had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked. Another fabulous dinner!
Made reservations the day prior knowing there would be a lot of parents like us bringing their children to VMI the next day. Easy to walk to from our hotel and such a quaint town. Very good food as well. We will definitely be going back
One of our favorite places to get together with friends. Food always great and price is affordable.
We enjoyed our time here. However a few in my party were disappointed that the duck listed on the menu in open table was no longer available.
Each time we come, everything is wonderful! The service was great, the food well prepared and we were right where we wanted to be...right on Main Street in Lexington, Virginia on a Sunday morning!
Outstanding service. Cheerful and pleasant atmosphere. Delicious food.
Made a is a perfectly patient, knowledgeable and wonderful server. I immediately trusted her opinions, amd the food was some of the best ever--and I have lived all over the world.
Nice restaurant in the heart of lexington. We enjoyed the French wine and our meals were both good. The spinach dip and key lime pie were 10/10. The service was very good as well! We will return next time we are in lexington.
Food was excellent, fresh, flavorful and well-prepared. Service was outstanding. Our server Danielle was knowledgeable, informative, and personable.
Bistro on Main is one of my favorite places to eat in the country! The food is always excellent and the ambiance is wonderful. Over the years we have seen it change and improve! Jackie is the BEST!!!
I had the special of French chicken, it was delicious. Came with a side of mashed potatoes and a fresh corn/okra combo. Loved it. My hubby had the jambalaya, his go to favorite at the Bistro. We'll definitely go back, it's a favorite.
We were seated on time and our waitress was friendly. When our entrees came two of the four were the same but both looked completely different and the sauce looked like red water. When we asked about it we were quickly offered by the waitress to remake the dishes but once the manager found out that our dishes were sent back we were berated with questions of why we didn’t like it and told how everyone else that orders that dish loves it. Then the chef came out and questioned us on what was wrong with the dish and gave excuses on what might have gone wrong including saying that he was just too busy. We felt very attacked for returning our entrees and were uncomfortable the rest of the evening. The only compensation offered was one free desert, which we declined. We will not return and will not recommend Bistro on Main.
Food (main entry) was excellent...appetizer (two small crab cakes) was only fair at best..wine selection was very good...I would say they need some work on the overall quality of the food but it is certainly above average...not excellent
I was looking forward to eating here, as we were coming for the Balloons Over Rockbridge festival and I had Googled best places to eat in Lexington and Bistro on Main was recommended. The on-line menu looked outstanding and the prices are reasonable so I told my sister "This is where we're doing Sunday brunch". This is a beautiful restaurant and the mood was really cool. Before our meal we were given a mini blueberry muffin and a biscuit with herbs and cheese each, which were good. I had been eyeing the Filet Mignon Steak benedict all week and I didn't even look at the menu when it was given to me because I had my mind settled on that. Much to my disappointment, when I ordered I was told they were sold out. Bistro on Main opens at 11 and we were there at 11, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? I settled for the Breakfast Platter, which was good but not what I wanted, and my sister got the Shrimp & Grits, which she said were amazing. Our waitress was very attentive, checking on us frequently and was very friendly, as were other employees we encountered. I would go back again because it was a very pleasant experience, even thought I didn't get the meal I wanted, and the atmosphere was nice and because there were several events in town that weekend and I believe that their not having the ingredients for the steak benedict was more than likely due to an unusually large crowd over the whole weekend.
Enjoyed a lovely meal, great service and the food was really tasty!
I ordered the salmon without the maple glaze and it was delicious. The sweet potatoes had too much sugar but the broccoli was great! Great dinner!
By far the best restaurant in Lexington. Reasonable prices excellent quality food and very friendly atmosphere
Food was great and price was decent. I had the salmon with sweet potatoes and it was very well cooked and delicious. Service was good and atmosphere was nice. If I visit Lexington again I’ll be dining here again.
