Delicious food and staff incredible. Everyone safely distancing!!
Bistro on Main always has outstanding food and service. We've been coming here for over 10 years and have always loved it. Even under COVID-19 restrictions, our experience was wonderful. I have never had a negative experience here! Can’t wait until our next visit!
As usual our time at the Bistro was wonderful. It was our 25th anniversary and totally enjoyed the meal and service. Someone arranged for us to have the whole room to ourselves. HA! It's just because we got there so early. And the special request for the catfish dinner was honored. Just the best restaurant ever!
A gem on Main Street!
I've never been here before, and I tried it for an early Saturday evening dinner. As the sun set, I enjoyed the coconut-water, curry, mushroom soup. Very tasty. The scallop special was lovely, and the canteloupe and ginger ice cream topped off a lovely meal. I was very pleased!
I don't get to Lexington very often, but will remember this for next time.
Second time eating there and will return again. Excellent food and service.
This was our 3rd time at Bistro, and we expect to return again. A somewhat limited menu, but the choices are diverse enough to suit most diners. Decent wine list and more craft beers on tap than I had expected. Friendly hostess and staff, and I rate service as above average. Some portions are on the smaller side, but we thought satisfying enough. The shrimp & grits and scallops have been our favorites. Only disappointment was the brownie ala mode. Small and dry, with only a tiny dollop of ice cream and slight drizzle of chocolate sauce. Not worth $7, so we wouldn't order this again. Overall though, happy with Bistro on Main.
Very good service and menu...food cooked to perfection...cocktails also very nice along with wine list. Priced appropriately Will be back.
Slower than normal/expected service before receiving orders. Almost constant noise from area just off dining room where staff congregated/cleared dishes/who knows what they were doing but food was good and price was appropriate.
Delicious
Will definitely return
We always have a wonderful time at the Bistro. The food is consistently great with special options. The servers are always prompt and pleasant. And it's quiet so we can hear each other. Not easily come by in these days. Our favorite place! So favorite we have decided to make a point to go every month, at least.
Perfect place for Sunday brunch. Delicious menu, fabulous mini cheddar biscuits to snack on. Staff was efficient and we did not feel rushed.
Very Quaint. A great evening to spend with friends. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant
Bistro on Main is a quaint, clean and delightful restaurant in downtown Lexington, VA. The luncheon portions were more than adequate (I couldn’t eat all of the fish and chips) and the prices are very reasonable. Our waiter was efficient, friendly and not obtrusive. I would highly recommend this eatery.
Quaint downtown location. Overall food was very disappointing, as over half of our parties’ meals came out ice cold. Would not recommend.
Always delicious. I have never been disappointed at the Bistro on Main. The spinach salad with citrus dressing and chicken is a wonderful lunch.
We had dinner on Friday night and had an 8 pm reservation, driving from Richmond following work. The wait person was friendly, but seemed a bit distracted and I'm sure very tired toward the end of his work day - just didn't seem very interested in serving us, only to basically get it done. However, the atmosphere was very nice and their beet soup was very good. My wife had salmon and I had the Mahi-mahi. Both meals were about 4 out of 5 stars. Having gone there once, I think we'd be more apt totry another restaurant rather than return again.
Love Bistro! upon our daughter’s graduation from a local college, we may need to visit Lexington to go to our favorite places❣️
The meal was outstanding. We both shared the fried oysters with the roasted red pepper remoulade sauce which were excellent in all respects. We both had the grilled salmon with maple gaze, spinach, and substituted mashed potatoes for the sweet potatoes, which was also excellent. The orange blossom (basically a margarita) from the bar was top shelf. We will be back soon.
The beer bread was outstanding but the entrees were both ruined by drowning them in a sour lemon sauce. My trout was not crisp on the skin and who puts lemon sauce on a filet????
Bistro is our favorite go to especially for special occasions. The only thing different this last time was the little breads served at bruch on Sunday. Not as wonderful has they have been in the past. Good and tasty just not wowie.
Best place in Lex, Va for casual dining. Terrific staff. Lots of good menu choices. Local produce. Super value custom meals.
Wait staff seemed inexperienced and short handed. We ordered salads and it took an hour to get our food.
We had a late brunch at the Bistro and all 4 of us were delighted. We've been multiple times before but it was not so overcrowded this time. Dana, our server, was delightful! I had a smoked salmon omelet hollandaise, 2 of my dining partners had crab cakes hollandaise and the 4th had the Bistro eggs. Everything was delicious!
Another fabulous enjoyable brunch - never have we not had a delicious meal and wonderful time here. Welcoming staff, Bistro eggs, omelet, breakfast platter, all cooked to perfection! Friendly service, always there at the right time. Fresh fruit and Biscuits, and Mimosas for the finishing touch. A visit to quaint, beautiful downtown Lexington is not complete without a visit to Bistro!
Food in Lexington can be hit or miss, with some of the places that can accommodate larger groups not having as high of quality of food; this wasn't the case at Bistro on Main. The overall seating area is not large but we were able to comfortable sit six at a large table and had prompt service with excellent food. I wouldn't categorize the food as remarkably creative but of solid value for the quality and size of the portions. A great place for a family or group of friends that are looking for a cozy atmosphere with good food.
We had a wonderful time at Bistro on Main. There were 9 of us attending a college reunion in Lexington. Service top notch and food was too. I had duck breast which was great. Others had salmon and steak. Ceasar salad fine. Very reasonable wine prices. We asked if splitting the bill would be possible expecting not, but our server said no problem and bills were split by couple and the one single within a minute. Great food, great service and fun - whT more do you want? Highly recommended v
Lunch b4 cousin wedding
Cute restaurant in the middle of downtown, surrounded by local shops and galleries. Food was great, as was service.
I arrived and there was no one at host stand. Over the course of 10 minutes or so of waiting I asked the bartender and two of the wait staff about being seated. They said the owner was the host and went looking for her. When she arrived she said something snarky about me asking her staff about seating. Once seated the service was slow for the first few minutes. Eventually things started working and there were no further problems. It was a nice facility and the meals were delicious.
The chicken was tough and a little undercooked. I did not finish it. Others had the gumbo and salmon and were pleases
Great food and ambience
Service was great. Friendly and helpful
Would definitely like to return.
Took a friend on a brunch date, we were a bit rushed due to class but it was still really fun. The food was fantastic, and the servers were very nice and accommodating. I have a milk allergy, and our stewardess was happy to help me find something without dairy. We were both impressed by their music choice -- trendy, chic smooth jazz. It elevated the "class" of the place quite a bit, but it didn't feel stuffy or imposing. If you're worried about the bar, don't because the restaurant is divided into two sections, a bar side and a dining side. I would particularly recommend the artichoke dip. I paid for it a bit later (cream), but I couldn't resist trying a bite and it was heavenly.
Sunday brunch
Our family enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch to wrap up our Washington & Lee Parents weekend. The atmosphere, food and service could not have been better!
This is the second time we've eaten brunch here since my daughter started college at W&L. The food was delicious, the atmosphere cozy and friendly, and the service was fast and knowledgeable each time. The Bloody Mary drinks were a great addition to the brunch... We'll be back to try dinner next time!!
My parry and I were refused at the door, despite having a reservation. The hostess did not even apologize or clearly explain why she would not seat us. She simply told us the kitchen was getting ready for dinner and to go to Southern Inn or Taps instead. She acknowledged we had a reservation but that we would not be seated nor were welcome. I had also called only an hour earlier to confirm the reservation so I was extremely confused as to how the status of my reservation’s validity changed in just one hour. They would not even let us sit at the bar briefly to have a drink and not once did the woman apologize for the confusion, inconvenience, or the fact that we were literally being denied our reservation. She did not seem regretful or offer any sympathy. I am livid and very displeased with this experience. The situation made no sense.
My sister and I stopped in while driving through Lexington. The staff was very friendly and the brunch was delicious. We would recommend it.
A relaxing and fabulous brunch! Biscuits and muffins / coffee / mimosas brought to the table as you arrive. Delicious options - we had the encrusted chicken salad and eggs Benedict Florentine - perfect! Great service - always greeted in a warm and friendly manner at this wonderful restaurant. Sun shining in through the windows - bright start to the day!
LOVE this restaurant! Staff was extremely kind and friendly and the food was wonderful! New favorite place!
Fantastic dinner at the Bistro, as always. We were lucky to get a seat in the window to watch all the locals and visitors to downtown Lexington go by.
