Delicious, creative Asian fusion food in a quiet, simple setting. Everything we had (pepper beef, garlic eggplant, ground beef wraps) was very tasty and reasonably priced. Service was very attentive. The setting is very simple and basic, and you can bring your own wine (no corkage fee) since the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license.
Great food and service. this is a Pasadena gem. Chef Kimmy was our server and was a terrific hostess to her Asian Fusion venue. Bring your own adult beverages as they have no license. That said a block and a half away was a liquor store that had decent cold Pinot Grigio.
Would go again. Our party of 7 had a great time.
The chef is such a lovely, kind, friendly person who will greet you at the door or come by and visit you sometime during the meal.
Everything here is fresh and delicious.
I’m definitely coming back again soon!
The dishes were delicious. The service was excellent and the chef even came out to greed us after dinner. Definitely will come back when I get a chance
Great value for a good meal. The chef is super nice 😃
Bistro Mon Cheri is a quiet straightforward place to eat with a chef whose talent is anything but ordinary. She is creative and thoughtful in her preparation and presentation of food. As a bonus, she's right there to talk with you about what you might order or even about planning a special meal designed for your own special occasion and preferences. After our first visit we have returned with friends and on our own. Some meals are leisurely and some are just quick and convenient. Don't expect a fancy setting but definitely expect delicious food.
It was Valentine's Day so there was the now traditional set menu which was very reasonable. The selections were a bit tough for someone who is allergic to shellfish but the chef was very accommodating. The beef appetizer and the crab cakes were the best. The entrees were very good but not as exciting. They ran out of the coconut and the coffee panna cotta desserts but the chocolate was okay. The ladies each received a long-stemmed rose.
this place is a hidden gem -- food is amazing! small local feel with amazing high-end food. Literally could go here every week and never be unhappy with the options. Chef Kimmy will always make changes needed for diet/preference as well. She's amazing and the whole team is so welcoming.
Nothing really special about the food. There was nothing wrong with it, it just seem like Chinese food made with a little extra care. 1 person got the fish - cooked well & had a sauce with a little kick. 1 person got the Lemon Chicken - nothing special. I got the curry chicken (which they said was Vietnamese curry - I don't know why). The fourth person got a "bun" salad, which was pork over noodles over salad - the pork was cooked well. The only interesting thing was the "Chocolicious" appetizer which was fried beef balls with chocolate in the middle & on top of strawberries/cucumber - way better than it sounds
We came by for lunch and had two of the lunch specials. They were both delicious and beautifully presented. The service was great This was our first time but definitely will come again.
This is a very small restaurant operated by the chef. Last night she was serving tables as well as supervising her kitchen, so it was a wonderful experience to be able to get her suggestions and talk with her about her story. We consider this to be an undiscovered gem--still easy to get in, still affordable, and oh so good. Planning to go back with friends for an "omakase" style dinner for my birthday (should be requested a few days in advance so Kimmy can plan the dishes she will prepare).
Amazing food. Wish the restaurant was closer to me, I’d eat there weekly! Creative and fresh dishes.
This restaurant deserves it’s own standalone location instead of stop a mall. The food is elegant. Ambiance is ok, but much more casual than the food. This food deserves to be served on white linen tablecloths. So, it’s not a fancy place, nor fancy prices-yet, it is an amazing place. Thank you! Would love to have you located in the South Bay or Westside, too!
The restaurant was closed, but I was able to make a reservation on Open Table. I called the restaurant and they did NOT mention they were closed.
Based in the online reviews/advertisement I made a reservation for a date. We were looking to experience something special, perhaps a foodie adventure. Mon Cherry looks like a deli, no alcohol is served and the server couldn't stop taking about his culinary adventures to McDonald's and Sizzler, yes that's right.
We tried 3 lunch specials: chicken curry with salad, chicken curry with soup and chicken salad with soup. I have to tell you, the vegetables in the chicken curry were crisp and delicious. The curry flavor a little spicy with a great depth of flavor. The chicken salad was also delicious and light. We loved the fresh shrimp rolls. Not made with rice noodles inside, instead it was all veggies and we loved them. We decided to put in for a 2nd order they were so delicious! Our work mate had a cold so we brought back a large chicken pho and she loved it too!
A wonderful find - Chef Kimmy Tang makes amazing food and takes a personal interest in her guests. Highly recommend...
Quiet quirky spot with delicious food.
Fabulous find! Been several times and never disappointed....chef is very personable and treats everyone like a best friend! Maybe the best restaurant in Pasadena!!
Well, the food is good. I was paying with gift cards that brother in law won. He has moved, wouldn’t need them and gave them to us. This was the second time I’ve been there. 1st time fine except for paying with gift cards. The waiter would have to ask the owner about it. They questioned them. But, I didn’t remember this encounter when I decided to take a friend there for her birthday. She was delighted. Enjoyed her curry tofu except it could have used more curry. The problem came again when using gift cards. The waiter took it to the owner. I’m questioned where did I get them, that the event planner was suppose to divide the cards among more winners, etc. well. That is all not my problem. And it was embarrassing in front of my friend. They should have had all that worked out with event planner or whoever took their donation. Owner said she wouldn’t be donating again. Who cares! I don’t need to know all this and I’m sorry I just didn’t walk out. Not going there again
We had a wonderful intimate foodie experience at BMC. Our server Love was attentive and provided spot-on recommendations. For appetizers, we went with the chocolicous meatballs and coffee-laced chicken wings. We also went “family-style” with the skinless eggplants, filet beef, white fish, and seafood pasta dishes. Exquisitely plated, awesome flavors. The delightful Chef Kimmy Tang visited our table as well to chat. BMC is in a strip mall about a mile east of Old Town. There’s parking in the complex, with entry from Mentor St. BMC gets two thumbs up.
Maybe the best food in Pasadena!
Really fresh Asian-fusion cuisine. Many bright flavors with interesting and creative twists. My first time but I will be back!
This is a small restaurant, but that is a big plus. Not crowded and very cozy. The food was amazing. Try the Seafood soup.
We love this place
Awesome personable service. Food was unique and tasty. Great for foodies.
An interesting menu but food was very under seasoned.
The food was delicious and the serving staff were very patient and accommodating! We will definitely return! BEST PHO EVER!
Great service!! Such friendly and kind people there! Food is fresh and delicious. Highly recommend
The food here is exceptionally good. We were pleasantly surprised with the chocolate meatballs. The thought of beef with chocolate sounded so strange, we just had to try it. It was delicious! The filet mignon and the squid ink pasta were very good also. There are other things on the menu that sounded interesting so we will have to go back there to try them all. The chef/owner and waiter were very friendly and helpful with the menu.
Chef Kimmy is a gem and she has produced a lovely little unpretentious place to fully savor and enjoy very, very good food. Pricing is very moderate and the value is high. Don't be put off by the slightly out of the way location in Pasadena and the odd collection of restaurants and businesses that are part of the buidling where Mon Cheri is located. There is parking behind the restaurant off Mentor Street.
This is one of the most interesting restaurants to open in Pasadena in quite a while.
For anyone who enjoys Vietnamese / French cuisine this small restaurant is a wonderful find.
The menu has interesting dishes; however, if one calls ahead (more than 24 hours) Kimmy Tang will prepare a 6,7, or 8 course dinner for a very reasonable price.
Very good food - not the normal boring menu, but actually very interesting and tasty. We enjoyed everything we tried. Service was excellent.
Based on the great reviews we went for a birthday dinner of a dear friend. The food was really very good and different than much that we’ve had. We had a hard time choosing and look forward to eating some of the other very appealing offerings. Highly recommended to foodies and people who want an intimate low key dining experience with superb food!
I was surprised the food is outstanding and the price is fair. Rally enjoyed it.
Worth to go back.
the chef was amazing and spoke to everyone & the food was spectacular
My first visit to this wonderful restaurant. It is small, with an interesting fusion menu. The chef had a Pho restaurant in Glendale, but this is Asian with a European flair. There are noodle soup dishes, dishes with rice, great salads and interesting "starters" and main dishes. The next time I am going to try the meatballs filled with chocolate.
This is a small space in a building filled with small restaurants. Do not be put off by the not-so-pretty building--this is a top-notch dining experience. And Chef Kimmy is amazing--she does the cooking but takes time to make sure the diner is happy.
