Great place for brunch. Nice outside patio as well.
It was a great brunch!
Love the atmosphere - we ate on the patio. Downer that we were escorted to it via the restroom hallway rather than via the back door. Food was ok, ice cream was awesome.
Very well prepared fresh food. Great ambiance and attentive waitstaff. Great for brunch and lunch.
Always enjoy our meals at Bistro Menil. It is a wonderful place to take out-of-town guests. Wish the noise level wasn't so uncomfortable.
Love the High Tea service. Excellent finger foods and unique setting.
It’s such a beautiful setting, wonderful ambiance! Very nice staff - I left my credit card and before I got to far away they called and I was able to turn around quickly to get it.
Great lunch on shaded patio. Best burger on the planet! Delicious fresh tuna tartare...
There were burned out lights on the ceiling above us so consequently it was too dark to see the food. Fortunately the waiter was kind enough to set down a couple of lanterns. They really need to check lighting to make sure all are functions.
The Bistro is great for both lunch and dinner; not sure whether it serves breakfast. The food and service was very good. It has a spacious outdoor patio exposed to W. Alabama and the open area that surrounds the restaurant. There were children and adults playing in the open area. the inside had a nice ambience and felt cozy and quiet. I had the roasted sea bass and my date had the lump crabmeat salad; both were excellent and warm bread was very good. Highly recommend!
Delicious food served in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Looking forward to returning.
Delicious for brunch or dinner! I would highly recommend to friends. We have been back several times since initially eating there.
The restaurant was bustling and the food very good but slow service and very loud. Convenient when going to the museum or Rothko Chapel.
Early dinner before the theater. It was great. Had good food with good service, got a visit from the chef and some great conversation to go along with it. Always a favorite.
5 stars all around—each of the 5 times I have dined!
Too loud for lunch conversation. But pleasant service and qualitybfood
We sat on the patio, Where the scenery and view were great, the food was outstanding, and the noise level was quite low.
Nice place, great location. Small portions and very pricey. Food flavor is just ok. Not impressed at all.
Wife and I had a nice time post 2 museum visits on a Sunday afternoon/evening.
Delicious!! I would highly recommend Bistro Menil. The food is always fresh and delicious. The chef personally brought out our food. Want to try their brunch as the menu looks amazing for that as well
Wonderful day for a special birthday lunch. Thankfully a large party of almost twenty women left within fifteen minutes of our arrival. For the time they were there, the noise was deafening and very uncomfortable. Had our reservations been at the same time, we would have left.
The meal was excellent and the service was friendly, but slow. At our table we enjoyed crepes, a burger, salads and the sponge cake. The cake was scrumptious and the hot tea, the perfect accompaniment.
Always an outstanding food experience with exceptional ambience. Well-curated wine list too.
We had a wonderful lunch here again. Highly recommend it if you are doing museums or around Montrose
Beautiful place, close to museums. Lovely atmosphere for lunch with friends, dinner with a romantic touch...food outstanding!
Busy brunch to celebrate a friends bday before Joshua Bell. Nice diverse menu.. brunch options and lunch options and healthy options..nice veggie bowl and blood orange mimosas-- nice twist. The service is friendly and good. It can be hard to find a place that handles multiple eating needs -- vegetarian, vegan, paleo --- blah blah blah.. so it's always a good option with a nice clientele..and on a beautiful day it's great to enjoy their patio spaces.
We have eaten here twice. Both times the experience was wonderful. The food is excellent... menu and perfect portions (not overloaded, heaped amounts that are often typical of Texas restaurants). Everything was fresh and delicious! We can’t wait to try other items on the menu! Also, on our second visit we sat outside. It was a delightful evening while the sun was setting. We will definitely return and bring friends!
Great service, delicious food and beautiful presentation.
Stopped for mid afternoon coffee and dessert to meet with client. We were forced to sit at the cluttered bar and needed to shout over kitchen noises. There were empty tables everywhere in the dining room, but were denied seating with ordering food. Very hospitable. At least the desserts were tasty. Not likely to return.
Beet salad was tasty but the beets were a bit over cooked.
Very disappointing. Restaurant was empty. No hostess to greet us. Service was friendly but not attentive. Egg galette dish waited on the line and came out cold; the galette pastry shell wasn't fresh or hot. Cappucinno was good.
Sad because previously I have enjoyed many pleasant and delicious meals at Bistro Menil. Hope it's just a temporary phase.
Overpriced. Rib was mostly bone and fat. Beets were very good. Bread was good also. Very nice location near the Menil museum.
Waiter was not the best. We were a party of 7 they added the bill up with the tax and added the gratuity on to that. When we paid he left the tip amount open in case we hadn’t seen that the gratuity was already added. Just very sleazy. Food was good.
The environment is lovely...the food just okay. Still a nice experience.
Took our daughter, s-i-l, and 5 month old granddaughter out after church on Sunday. It was almost full and rather noisy, but we were fine. Baby was good! All of us really enjoyed our food - a variety: veggie omelet, waffles (both fruit forward and chicken) and eggs Lyonnaise. We started with the truffled potatoes which we shared and which were delightful. A great brunch. We will return.
I love the ambiance, peaceful, unhurried. The food is exquisite. Much thought has gone in to the food including the sides. The sides are extraordinary.
Our lunch was most enjoyable. The variety of selections on the menu was very nice. Our food was delicious, especially the lump crabmeat. The noise level was a bit high, but all in all it was an pleasant dining experience.
The wine and beer slection are both perfection; and I say that very rarely. Service attentive but unintrusive. Food was generally very good, but a little off here and there (some of the sauces were far too acidic, for example). Probably my favorite lunch spot in Houston at this point....but be careful with the wine and beer list!
