Bistro Jeanty Ratings and Reviews
We had lunch @ Bistro Jeanty with our nephew , an aspiring chef. We were greeted by a not so friendly hostess and seated at an marginal table, but all that was forgotten when our server Sara appeared....full of enthusiasm and personality!
The menu was comprehensive but not overwhelming and with Sara's guidance we made our selections. I had the Cassoulet, my husband the Smoked Trout with my nephew ordering the Pork Shoulder. All were delicious! Sara recommended a good Cotes du Rhone style wine that paired well with all of our dishes.
We followed the delicious meal with coffee and shared two desserts: the Lemon Tart and Pear Creme Brûlée. Again, both delicious.
I would definitely recommend Bistro Jeanty and maybe if they are lucky, they will end up in Sara's section as she made the experience.
We love the food at Bistro Jeanty. Unfortunately, the waiter decided not to wait until my 88-year-old mother-in-law was done with her appetizer before he decided to bring our entrees to the table. It was an odd, unexpected moment. The restaurant was not full. There was no reason to rush our table. The meal was very good, but that uncharacteristic moment of service left a bad taste.
We were in Napa for Thanksgiving week. We had dinner at Bistro Jeanty the first night and liked it so much that we went back the last night we were there. The food, service is excellent. The restaurant feels very warm and comfortable - especially the front dining room. I had the fillet of sole both times and loved it.
I was really looking forward to this restaurant since I don't get much of a chance of experiencing French food where I live. A reservation was made well in advance as well as a follow up call to confirm. After being asked I told them that we were celebrating a 60th birthday. I was told a note had been made. From the start our waiter was slow and marginally attentive. Did his job of going over the menu but was not at all personable. Getting our drinks were slow, taking out order was slow and after that we pretty much did not see him until it was time for dessert. There was no acknowledgment of the special occasion. I think there are many other choices which would have made for a much more satisfying experience. The food was very good but the overall experience was very disappointing and like I said there are lots of choices and I'd try somewhere else.
Bistro Jeanty is a French Restaurant in everything but the quantity. My wife and I picked it for one of the two dinner restaurants on our 35th anniversary trip. In a (Yountville) of fine restaurants, we were not disappointed we had a Hill Family Cabernet for dinner, Coq Au Vin and Beef Bourguignon, buttered noodles and the special foix gras dish as an appetizer. It was all excellent. We had previsouly eaten at Bottega and were scheduled to have dinner there again but the firs cancelled that. I thought both of the restaurants were on equal footing. I would have dinner there again and I would certainly recommend to a friend.
My wife and I had two very standard French entrees that you would find on most French restaurant menus. We ordered a cocktail and asked the waiter to wait for a moment or two before placing the entree orders as we wanted to enjoy our cocktail and would then have some wine with our dinner. Within a moment he arrived with salads and followed with the entrees and an excuse that the kitchen had rushed him. To me that is just a ploy to turn the tables a few minutes quicker and the place was not full. Our entrees were good but nothing to rave about.
As stated we had a decent meal but certainly not one of the highlights of our Napa Valley experience and so from that standpoint they did not get a higher ranking. sorry!
I love Bistro Jeanty. One of my favorites and I've come here numerous times to celebrate a special day, or to treat out of town guests. Comforting and rich boeuf bourguignon and fork tender pork shoulders. Generous amount of mussels to share and mop up their wine sauce with their moist bread. Delicious duck rillette with goat cheese. Warm service and ambiance.
My mouth is watering as I start to think about what I want to type. First of all the truffle deviled eggs were so good. Almost as good was the small salad that the come served on (as our server said "if you put truffle oil on anything it instantly becomes the most delicious thing ever!") She was absolutely correct here. We also had the beet salad and it was perfect. Their cassoulet might as well be served with a crown over it because it is the King of all Cassoulets. It was so good I almost finished the whole thing, and it is pretty damn huge! I was finished eating it 4-5 separate times, but just kept having to pick up my fork and take another bite. Delicious! Overall, tremendous experience at Bistro Jeanty. Quaint atmosphere, friendly service staff, glad it was recommended to us!
Wonderful dinner and experience. Recommended to us by a former local on our first trip to Napa Valley. Service was wonderful (thanks Sean/Shaun/Shawn!) such a cute little place and the food was absolutely delicious. Had a great meal and would definitely go back on another trip. Highly recommend.
Charming restaurant but the noise level is terrible in the main dining room! Could not hear waiter or our dinner partners at our table of four. Beef bourgeon was a bit soupy....beware they recommended a Side of buttered egg noodles but charged $6.50 extra! Shouldn't have needed them with this dish had it not been so soupy. Not a traditional preparation.
