Great food tomato soup was great!
Absolutely loved it, as usual. Sad that no Cassoulet was available.
Always one of my favorite spots! Service and food excellent. Wines by the glass are great too! It is a fantastic dining spot!
We’ve been here many times & it is forever consistently wonderful! The service was good - the waiter actually remembered us from past visits. Their tomato soup with puff pastry crust is spectacular. They have incredible daily specials so I tried the veal chop & loved it. The Boeuf Bourguignon is too tough to pass on as is the Coq a Vin but others in our group enjoyed the pork shoulder (SO very good!) & the ribeye steak-perfect! Always a great evening & we leave very full!
Food was fantastic that included beet salad, Ribeye steak and Rum Raisin Rice Pudding. Our waiter, Johnny, was very professional. Thanks to Johnny for recommending the Pinot Noir wine!
We will be back!!
Very good service and food. Was disappointed that the restaurant is now choosing to charge for refills of soda water from the bar. Never had that experience before.
Bistro Jeanty is a gem. An outstanding, absolute dining GEM. We visit as often as possible, and consider it it one of the most versatile restaurants in Napa: whether a casual lunch at the bar, an annual wine country trip with family, or a romantic anniversary - the food, service and ambiance always deliver. The cooking is homey, comfortable and elegant all at the same time. True French Bistro food that simply, purely makes you you happy! And nothing (to us) is better than bellying up to the bar when John is serving. He’s outstanding; friendly, funny, informative and a spot-on server. If you’re in town this is a must-visit restaurant.
Disappointing this time. Bourguignon was dry & over salted. The buttered noodles were recommended as a side- tasted like over salted over cooked noodles with Parmesan mixed in. A few bites of my friends steak with bernaise was very good- skip the bernaise, again heavy handed salt. The place is tight & noisy,
if you go, sit out on the patio which unfortunately was closed that evening. So many great places in the area, BJ needs to regroup & pay attention.
This is about as traditional a French Bistro as you'll find in the Bay Area. I love it!
We didn’t get the best table, but had a great evening overall. The host was very particular about seating based on reservation. We will be sure to leave a note specifying our preferences in advance. The food was amazing (someone told us just as good as French Laundry and they were not wrong). The service was top notch, as everywhere is in Yountville. We had a great girls dinner. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.
Excellent food! Great staff. Great setting.
The orders came fast even though the restaurant was near capacity.
Birthday for three people!
Been eating here for more than ten years and I have never been disappointed with a meal. The food and service is fantastic. I would drive three hours just to have lunch here and I have done that twice this past year for special occasions. Sit at the bar and ask the bartender to recommend wine and you will not regret it.
Very cozy place. Great service , delicious food
Excellent authentic French bistro cuisine. Great place in Napa valley - especially if you want a lively atmosphere. It can be quite loud inside the restaurant when full. Outdoors is more serene. Highly recommended for wonderful food and wine experience. Specials or off the main menu - you won’t go wrong.
My favorite restaurant in Yountville (and overall Napa)!! It's amazing rustic French food. Not pretentious or stuffy, but just down to earth home-cooked food. Our favorites are the beat salad, French onion soup. From there you can't go wrong with any of the main course choices. Bread pudding and crepe suzettes top it all off.
Casual French-Bistro atmosphere with seriously good food. Excellent fine dining in a Mecca of fine restaurants with more Michelin stars per capita than any other place on earth.
We sat outside on their semi- enclosed patio and enjoyed oysters, champagne, and their signature tomato soup. It was divine! Got there early to avoid the crowds. It was nice & quiet!
Très bruyant, courants d’air, sole trop cuite, service et cadre sympa
My husband and I visited this restaurant on advice from some local people. Unfortunately it wasn’t a good experience for us. When we arrived we were seated in an anti room. I ordered the special of frogs legs and my husband ordered the escargot. My frogs legs were quite good especially the accompanying sauce but that’s where the positives with the food ended. My husband did not like the herb sauce the escargot was bathed in. He said it tasted very strange. For our main courses my husband had the steak and frites. The steak was very stringy and lacked flavour and I ordered the sole with a side order of Brussels sprouts. Both of which were quite bland. For these reasons I would not recommend this restaurant. The next night we visited Redd and were very impressed with the food and service.
Very fine sole meunière Excellent onion soup
Our server Sarah was absolutely incredible. We felt very taken care of!!!
Tasty and excellent quality
Great French food
Wanted coq au vin after not finding it on a menu in Paris recently. Bistro Jeanty never disappoints
A fabulous Napa spot, well located, reasonably priced.
Disappointing experience. Pork shoulder was riddled in fat throughout. Accompanying brussel sprouts were both overcooked and al dente in the same plate. Rib eye was ordered medium well and arrived medium rare. Server never checked in table after food delivered.
Bistro Jeanty hasn’t evolved, and it’s too bad. The other Yountville restaurant options are just too good, and keep getting better. After countless dinners over the years, this dinner from a never changing menu was disappointing. Good bistros can be very good, and Bistro Jeanty once served good food, with good service in a nice room. Maybe Phillippe will get the hint.
The service has been MUCH better. Waters were never refilled, coffee refill was offered as we were leaving. Over heard the server we had reply to a table there is nothing to do here ( in the valley) except drink and eat. The guest had asked for places to see and things to do not wine related. As locals after the server left, we shared ideas with them. They were most appreciative of the information.
Mmmm! Love the quenelles!
Wonderful as usual!
Unreal food!!!!! We loved it and will go back again soon!!!
Always amazing love your food😊
Birthday! They were wonderful!
I had high hopes on my first visit to Bistro Jeanty. The restaurant has an amazing reputation and was recommended to us from several friends. Unfortunately, our experience left us feeling quite underwhelmed.
We had reservations and were seated quickly. Once seated we were given menus and shortly thereafter, we provided our drink and appetizer order. So far so good... unfortunately, our drink order 10-15 minutes to deliver, leaving us parched and looking around wondering why we were not being served. The restaurants acoustics are terrible and as a result it was very loud. Then above our table is a piece of artwork with a chef making something and he has a dead chicken in his hands. I know this is not intended to be offensive, except it was, due to having animal lovers in my party.
When our appetizers came we were excited as the french onion soup has an amazing reputation. It was not hot and was average and the smelt were very bland. Next, our main coursed arrived, the braised short ribs were ok, the highlight being the carrots were amazing. Lastly, my pork shoulder was tender, but actually tasted like beef and not pork.
Granted, I had high expectations, and that may be my fault or a function of the restaurants reputation which preceded it. Ulitmately, I spent $175 for a meal that was average and left without desert. I guess I will continue my search for fine dining in the Napa Valley and simply cross Bistro Jeanty off the list.
Wonderful first experience - the food was exceptional, the atmosphere relaxed, and the service spot on.
Loved Bistro Jeanty, but wish more options were vegetarian / pescatarian friendly!! The options for a non-red or pork meat eater were severely limited. The tomato bisque soup is a MUST, but skip the escargot- they are almost sweet (and de-shelled prior, which is always odd). We met wonderful people there and ended up closing the place down, our waiter was absolutely fabulous and I would certainly return, but maybe for a brunch or lunch vs. dinner.
Bistro Jeanty is so authentically French (the chef/owner is from Champagne) that if you close your eyes while tasting, say, the quenelles de crochet, you'd think you were in a bistro in France. Located in the heart of Yountville, a good walking town, it's a good place for lunch or dinner and is quite popular with the locals as well as visitors. It is a bit noisy, but that's part of the energy. Highly recommended.
Amazing dinner! We had the tomato soup, beet salad, pork shoulder and beef bourguignon, and everything was perfect! Ate so much we didn't save room for dessert.
