We visit this restaurant every year. Food is excellent but service level has deteriorated. Wine was late. We were almost done with appetizers when it was brought to us, only after reminded a waiter. Place was noisy.
Brought the fiancé for her first Bistro Jeanty experience. Tomato bisque is always awesome. Tired the croque madame for the first time and it was delicious paired with our rabbit and salmon dishes. Dessert was also delicious. The service is always wonderful. Come to the Valley and eat here!
This place was excellent. The food was everything I had hoped it would be. We were celebrating so it definitely had the atmosphere for that type of dining. I would recommend this to anyone who loves FRENCH food.
The waiter was rude and did not come by to check on us. He appeared as if we were a bother. We are 3 quiet middle aged women. Perhaps it was that we of different nationalities.
The Cassoulet was very very dry. Change serving dish.
The lamb chops good. Over priced
And we purchased an 82.00 bottle of wine.
Most of all there was a most unbearable smell. We told the waiter. He did not acknowledge what we said and walked away
I come here for every special occasion and whenever I have visitors. It is consistently delicious with excellent service and an ambience reminiscent of France. Love it!
If you want to enjoy French cuisine in the Napa Valley, the Bistro Jeanty is the place to go. The food is excellent, only made more enjoyable by the wait staff. We chose to eat inside but the seating out in the patio looked very nice as well. It's definitely a place for a celebration or just wanting to enjoy a bit of French ambience.
Bistro Jeanty had always been our "go to" when we visit Napa 2 or 3 times per year.
I live in the area and was embarrassed to bring out of town family here for dinner last night. Soup was melted cheese on soggy bread lacking both onion and broth. Salad was a joke - full head, stacked uncut leafs, that’s it. Bread was ok. Beet salad ok. Service was insulting and rude. Snotty young woman. Never again and this makes me sad as Bistro Jeanty is a landmark in Yountville.
Waiter forgot to put in one of the orders. He never communicated with us until after the other 2 dishes were served. Not friendly at all. Food took an hour and a half.
Some of the best french cuisine I have ever had. I loved loved every morsel I bit into.
Bistro Jeanty has never disappointed us! The evening was wonderful and the food fabulous!
I love this place! Always consistently great meal. Most of the time the service is fantastic, but the last two visits where a little strange... Most recently, our server brought me the wrong drink and then argued with me that it was what I ordered. When I told her that she mistook Bulleit Rye for Boulevardier, she argued with me again trying to tell me what I said. A bit weird. And the time before, the bartender demeaned another staff member right in front of us. A couple of opportunities for training... We will keep coming back until you get it perfect!
Been there many times, and this was the first uneven experience I ever had. We waited an hour for our appetizers, and then had another extended wait (at least 45 more minutes) for our main courses. Two of our party then had to send back their dishes-lamb and steak-because they were served impossibly rare. I wondered if they rushed them out of the kitchen because they were so late in serving us. The quality of the other dishes was, as always, superb, but this was the first time I ever felt that the system was wobbling there. They were struggling with the Saturday night crowd. Has something changed in the management since I was there last?
Love Bistro Jeanty...but on a Saturday night it is crazy loud and we could barely hear any conversation at the table
We enjoyed our entree, but everything is a bit over priced. If you charge that much for an entree, I expect good, friendly, service. The service was slow, the waiter wasn't friendly - just like France ! We didn't expect it to be that authentic with waiters without a personality, not helpful, not friendly.
The four of us all have "pet peeves" when busboys & waiters remove things from your table (especially food and drink), without asking. You shouldn't have assumed that we didn't want the last 2 pieces of bread to eat with our entree before whisking it away without asking. You shouldn't have assumed that I didn't want to finish & savor the last bit of my wine before whisking away my glass. RESTAURANT 101 TIP: Ask before removing food & beverage from tables ! Don't run around the restaurant as if you are in a race to get the plates & glasses back to the kitchen to be washed, or whatever reason you have. No one wants to look at a dirty plate on the table, however, if there is food on the plate....don't take it unless you ask ! !
We eat at this restaurant when we are in the area visiting wineries. We had a friend in from PA and wanted to share the Bistro experience. Bistro Jeanty did not disappoint !
A very busy, noisy place. Not pleasant being seated inches away from someone who had been over-served at the wineries all day. Food and cocktails were very good - service wasn’t as attentive as we would have liked. Might try them again on a weeknight.
BEST RACK OF LAMB THAT WE HAVE EVER HAD
WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH TO DESCRIBE OUR TOTAL EXPERIENCES
Friends in town.
Atmosphere is French Bistro, well appointed, and very comfortable. Menu and wine list is quite extensive. I had the beef bourginione which was delicious. The sauce was complex and paired nicely with a petite Syrah. The salmon was quite good and the sole was spectacular. Most thought the escargot was salty but I loved it. Service was thoughtful and well executed. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Lunch on a Saturday. Service was excellent (John). Food was awesome (deviled eggs, butter lettuce salad, cassoulet, salmon special). Wine recommendation was perfect. One of our best lunches ever. Highly recommend.
Excellent food and service. The only negative was the noise level in the dining room.
The menu is French top to bottom. There are no stray items that belong in other restaurants. Everything is impeccably prepared. People at a neighboring table said they traveled from Hawaii for the tomato soup, served with a spectacular dome of puff pastry. The cassoulet is the best. Even the salads have that je ne sais quoi that make them meal worthy. In a town full of fabulous restaurants Bistro Jeanty is a top choice.
Having been to Bistro Jeanty on numerous occasions, the food and service continue to be outstanding. The biggest challenge is whether to order off of the regular menu or the specials which are always impressive. Best French Bistro in the region!
Have been to BJ for decades and took my 5 girlfriends along. Sadly the most disappointing meal yet in Napa. Service fair at best, Food was ok though seemed over - prepared and over salted or sauce that had sat for awhile. It has been such a stalwart restaurant. Sad to see this come about. We had mussels, daube, coq au vin, and a few of the specials. Food seemed "lifeless" or without energy/vibe and the traditional lovely French influence. Instead seemed soulless.
Day trip to the Napa Valley
It is hard to separate the food from the service and the ambiance, but the food was really terrible. I could not finish my sole entree. It was raw, not just lightly cooked. I was there for lunch and did not send it back due to time, but what a waste of $30.
Pace was a bit slow, but we prefer this to rushed dinner. Food was excellent, as was service. Our favorite restaurant in Napa.
The food, the drinks and the ambiance made our anniversary memorable. Thank you!!!
The food and service were over the top!! It was a fun environment and had super cool decor. Great evening!!
The food was outstanding as it always is and our waiter was very knowledgeable about each dish.
Food and service very good. Tables VERY small and close together. Noise level extremely loud.
The food was amazing, and Sean, our server was so nice. Lovely little French bistro.
Fabulous French Bistro!
Very quaint felt like you were in France. Delicious dinner, fantastic drinks outstanding lemon merengue pie. Great Birthday Celebration!
Very good food and good service. Can be quite loud when restaurant is full. Fun place to go to. Can be romantic on a quiet week night.
Great Martinis food and service... what more can you ask
Food was great, server was excellent and his recommendations.
Look no further for a WONDERFUL dining experience!
We love to make a special trip from the East Bay for our anniversaries. One of our favorite restaurants in the Bay Area! The food is amazing!
