Bistro Henry Ratings and Reviews
Service was great..but it was WAY too hot inside which made the evening very uncomfortable!
Food was very good but we sent our martini's back.
We asked for Kettle One which they did not have, then ordered Tito's ICE ICE ICE COLD....they came toooo warm, the glasses never even chilled and we could swear the vodka was watered down. We are both VERY familiar w/martini/vodka so it was disappointing. Ended up with Grey Goose which was at least cold.
Attention to details is my advice.....
An excellent and authentic French Bistro - best in town of Manchester Vermont - family own and run - Bistro Henry has been there serving up the true restaurant experience for many years, great select menu with thoughtful attention to local and special ingredients
Great local food, expertly prepared, along with a cordial, welcoming staff made for a pleasant dinner experience in Manchester, VT. The Half Chicken was uniquely smoked and delicious, and the Linguine Lobster was rich and sweet in a brandy tomato cream sauce. Flourless chocolate cake was awesome and provided a fitting ending to a great meal.
Special occasion dinner, getaway weekend..walked in, was seated in the back room with only two other occupied tables, away from the fireplace and main room. Hostess literally ‘stamped ‘ her foot and turned away from us in a huff when I asked if we could be seated in the main dining room.
I was quite embarrassed for asking and for her behavior. Our table was near her hostess station and we saw her huffing and becoming angry with other patrons as well. An older woman walked over to her to tell her to calm down. We found out from our waitress it was her mother, the bartender.
Food took a very long time to be served too.
Middling stars earned by steak au poivre being both overdone and with a poor sauce. The peppercorns must always be cracked for the sauce or else it's bitter without the bite. Which is what this was. Squash soup was very good. So was french onion. Fair choice of well priced wines. Ambiance is nicer outside than in.
My wife and I wanted dinner someplace other than typical chain dining. Looking at reviews we made a reservation at Bistro Henry. Driving up to the restaurant it is nicely lit with a patio for outside dining. Little cool this night. Walking in the front door met with by the greeter who promptly took us to our table. Nice atmosphere with lighting and decoration. Fits the area. Menu is excellent. Not overwhelming with choices. Everything came out piping hot as you would expect your food to be. I had potato Leek soup and my wife had the baked onion soup. Both were fantastic. I had the Rib Eye and my wife the Chicken Francaise. The Rib Eye was cooked perfectly. No need for onions or mushrooms to help the flavor. The chicken was super tender and the accompanying pasta was cooked Al dente. Fresh baked bread and whipped butter to accompany. We weren't rushed with nice timing between courses. This may have just been a slow time not being during ski season where more attention was paid to diners be we were impressed, had a great meal, and would visit again in the future.
Our family went for Saturday evening dinner. Liver was on the price fix menu. The first piece of liver was raw, the second attempt (same piece of liver) appeared to have been thrown into a deep frier and came back inedible . When I finally got up to speak to the owner she finally made it right, however the 4 others in my family had already finished their dinners. I wasn't pleased with my dinner! When the bill came, there was no concession to the two prior failures, no small price reduction for eating a half hour after everyone else, I would have expected to have my dinner comped for having to eat my dinner after my family had all finished theirs, they did not charge for 2 cups of coffee however.....wow, and it is not about the money. It's about what the idea of a nice dining experience should be and how it is rectified if it's not.
This was our first time in Henry’s Bistro and we will for sure be back again. You could visit here every night for a week , eat a different dish and still have something left to chose from. Great range of food on the menu and a wonderful wine list. Rachel, who served us, was excellent, attentive when we needed it, a great guide through both the menu & wine list, but also allowed us to spend a quiet time. Cannot tell you how good she was. I had Oysters to start and my wife had Crab cakes. Then I had Parmesan Crusted Sole whilst my wife had Seafood Linguine. Bottle of Muscadet, it was perfect. Then to top it all Henry came out to bring our desserts. I had Grande Marnier Creme Brûlée. Great service and a great place
Not sure why this restaurant had so many positive peer reviews but the ambiance was lacking, service slow (although our server was very nice and trying her best) and food just okay. Pretty unremarkable experience but priced too high for what was delivered. My ravioli special of the day was okay but $28? Mixed green salad was tasty.
Came to enjoy relaxing weekend in VT Bistro Henry's was recommended on a few sites so we thought we would give it a try . Wow blown away by how excellent the food is . If every you are visiting Manchester I highly recommend a dinner here . ( Side note I must have passed the place 50 times many years ago we I skied thinking it was run of the mill eatery wow was I wrong ) Save room for dessert !!!!!!
Lovely restaurant in Manchester VT. There is a dining Terrence during warmer months. The inside is cozy and inviting. Service by the wait staff is friendly and professional. I was taken here to celebrate my birthday and it was a good choice.
We had a very tasty gazpacho and a wonderful corn chowder as appetizers. I had the duck confit for my main course. It was a generous portion, nicely plated with crisp julienne carrots and string beans. My dining companion had the grilled swordfish which he said was delicious.
I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Bistro Henry. Our server, Jessica, nailed it right from the start when my husband couldn't decide which entree to have. She asked what wine we were thinking about. Since we had decided on a bottle, she steered him to the entree that would pair the best with the wine. Perfect choice. Food, service, ambience, friendliness...all good. Definitely worth a visit.
We were greeted in a very welcoming and friendly manor by a lovely hostess. The prime rib was our initial reason for choosing Bistro Henry and it was excellent and cooked perfectly. We also had the chicken francaise which was some of the best I've tried. I will surely go back to try some more dishes.
HAVE BEEN 3X BEFORE....travel world wide to eat...big city's and small towns.
BROUGHT MOTHER AND A FRIEND FOR 89TH B'DAY, PEOPLE VERY NICE BUT WAS SHOCKED NOBODY EVEN OFFERED HER A CORDIAL OR PC OF CAKE/COOKIE FOR HER B'DAY??
HAD BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE AND APPETIZERS, MAIN COURSE DESERT ETC...
WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN $18 FOIS GRAS WHICH I ASKED WHY IT WAS SO TINY? I HAD IT BEFORE AND IT WAS TERRIFIC AND LARGE...SHE SAID IT WAS "WEIGHED'???? SOOOO SMALL...SIZE OF MY THUMB MAYBE? VERY SAD!!! (Thought MAYBE they would add a small pc to my dinner?? No way!)
MOTHER HAD SWEETBREADS...OVERSIZED AND DRY. I HAD HANGER STEAK WHICH WAS OK AND MY FRIEND HAD THE SPECIAL FISH WHICH SHE LIKED. Menu VERY EXPEPENSIVE for local area, WHICH IS FINE IF THE VALUE WAS THERE. IT WAS VERY QUIET SUNDAY EARLY EVE, I ORDERED $8 GLASS MUSCAT de BEAUMES de VENISE at the end...SENT IT BACK AS IT WAS WARM; YUK. CAME BACK IN A CHILLED GLASS STILL WARM! Still yuk!
IT SEEMS THIS PLACE IS TRYING TO BE SPECIAL AND TO APPEAL TO SOPHISTICATED CITY TASTE BUT FALLS SHORT. THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE...EXCEPT I HAD TO GET UP TO GO PAY THE BILL AS NOBODY CAME...WORK ON THE ISSUES AND IT COULD BE A GREAT PLACE...FALLS SHORT FOR $200 DINNER IN VT!
Dining at Bistro Henry was a delightful experience. Our server was Rachelle and she did a great job, but the cool thing is they have pooled service so if we could not find Rachelle any other server could help us.
The food was excellent. Jim had sirloin which he said was perfect. I had a filet trio with three different sauces. The steak was great. The sauces were gorgonzola, peppercorn and bernaise. They were all excellent. The only thing I found strange was that they were all on the same plate and were blending into each other. I would have put that in small sauce cups. Other than that, excellent. For dessert, oh my goodness, the profiteroles were absolutely awesome!!!!
