Bistro Henry is one of our favorite restaurants and a "must go" whenever we are near Manchester, VT. Cannot recommend this place enough - every time the food (especially the steak) is amazing and the wine list is remarkable and carefully put together.
I chose to dine at Bistro Henry for the variety of choices in their menu, from steak to seafood to pasta. The food did not disappoint. The seared foie gras and steak were excellent. My husband had the diver scallops with risotto which was a little too salty for his taste. We got one of the best desserts we've ever had which was a ginger sponge cake with sweet cheese; out of this world! Our biggest complaint would be the slow service. It took us half an hour to get the appetizer, and the entire 3-course meal took over 2 hours; good that we were not in a rush. Another comment was that their décor was quite dated. Though the restaurant has been around for 25 years; some renovation would help with the overall dining experience.
Service was outstanding. Family friendly restaurant with a good selection of well prepared food. Casual atmosphere. We really enjoyed everything about it and would go back.
Consistently good food and service. Best wine list in the area. Will return.
This review is more about Open Table than Bistro Henry. We made a reservation through Open Table. Initially could not find the restaurant in the dark because there were no lights on.THRY WERE CLOSED!!! I feel Open Table should have been aware of this. It was then after 7pm with no reservation for dinner! Feeling annoyed!
Made reservation on open table. Drove to the restaurant. Restaurant was closed, dark and no one around. How can I make a reservation if the restaurant is closed. Went to another restaurant for dinner.
As usual, the food was absolutely delicious, the service was excellent, and our evening was wonderful. Highly recommended!
Everything was absolutely perfect! The only thing I would say is the lighting could have been softer. But I would highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Always a pleasure to dine here!
We wonder why we never tried it before. Will go often. So delicious we went back Sunday
It took over hour to get our order and the steak was well done; not rare as ordered. The server did not offer anything as compensation; it was a $200 bill. The manager was rude as well. Told us there is nothing she can do. Will never return.
When we first entered restaurant, we were not greeted by the staff who walked by us several times. The bartender/hostess, when checking for my reservation, curtly told me not to touch the computer as I was pointing to my name. We were seated by serving station, when there were other available tables, when we inquired about the other tables we were told “ I don’t want to overwhelm my server”...... on a Friday night? To see moments tables filled. Food very good, server a keeper.. unfortunately first impressions :(... hostess bad attitude is not how your restaurant should be represented.
Excellen restaurant for vegetarians. Wonderful food. Quiet.
Bistro Henry was very good with some interesting specials including Elk. I thought the wine list was a bit pricey.
Hi Open Table
Actually, we appeared for our reservation but decided not to dine at Bistro Henry. The website appeared to show a restaurant with a formal white-table cloth dining area. We did not see such an area and wanted a little more upscale dining experience so we went to another restaurant. The restaurant was full so I'm sure food would have been great - just not the environment we expected.
It was OK for a small town like Manchester. The menu was promising but the dishes were in some cases disappointing. The sole was dry which I should have probably expected because it was fried. The salads could have used more dressing.
EXCELLENT SERVICE AND MEALS....FIRST TIME AND LIVED IN THE AREA OVER 30 YEARS ......A HIDDEN GEM.
Although the noise level was very high, and the restaurant had a pub-like atmosphere as opposed to an elegant dining one, the food and service were very good. Very good for steak and meat eaters.
Very good unique delicious meal options. Great friendly service.
Upon arrival, my husband and I were charmed by the exterior ambiance... there was no host readably available and servers walked past us like we were nonexistent.
Our server was very sweet and very antimatter in her description of the menu, however, we placed our order for an appetizer and then forgotten. Our salad and soup were delivered and we had to ask for our appetizer.... it eventually came, but we had to ask other server to please get the bread for our mussels. It was like she disappeared for at least 20 minutes.
The dining room was crowded, but our meal was fine... we had a nice dessert and a bottle of good wine, but overall it was somewhat of a disappointment.
Pleasantly surprised. Terrific venison. Service was very attentive
We had an excellent evening with some fabulous food and wonderful wine. Highly recommended.
Our son found a hair in his drink. When we reported this to the waitress she made a joke that there must be a hair monster there because another guest sitting in the same spot found a hair in their food earlier, but it “wasn’t hers.” Uh, this did NOT make us feel better. Food was good but it took an hour and a half to get our entree - we had an 8 pm reservation and did not eat until 9:30. Not going back.
A bit chaotic when we arrived and took a bit to even confirm we had arrived for our reservation. But Sat. night of Columbus Day Weekend in VT, that is totally understandable. Soon after checking in we were seated. Once seated, service was spot on (thanks to Dina) and we had a delightful meal. The Hen of the Woods mushrooms special appetizer was certainly memorable and honestly orgasmic (sorry to be crass; but true). All entrees, sides, and dessert were delicious.
You don’t go to Bistro Henry’s for the ambiance, you go for the quality food.
We went on a Tuesday night in mid September...only 1 other table was occupied. We were charged twice for the dinner on our credit card and never received our points from Opentable. I had to email Opentable to get the points. The food was pretty good..no
atmosphere..average place...would I go again? Probably not.
Very friendly. Great Rib eye. Other good creative dishes. Love the $9.99 special small plates.
Fabulous meal with excellent service. Dinner was well paced. We were seated immediately and water served. In less than five minutes our waitress, Rachael, was taking our drink order. She then came back and shared the specials. We ordered, salads came out in 10 minutes. I had the Caesar and my husband the beet, both were delicious. Our main courses were superb and the raspberry crisp for dessert was a nice way to share a treat. We’d go back in a heartbeat.
Bistro Henry is superb. My date said his martini was the best he's ever had. We shared a beet-and-arugula salad that was excellent. My striped bass and his steak au poivre were delicious. And the profiteroles -- perfect! Very reasonably priced for such a feast. Very pleasant service too. Definitely a five-star place!
We decided to dine here after reading the other reviews. Everything was OK-nothing great.
The chumous was fairly tasteless, but everything else was wonderful. I had lamb which was pretty close to the medium rare I requested, delicious and plentiful. The duck fat roasted potatoes were creamier than I’ve ever tasted.
First time there. Surprised with great food and service. Will return for sure !!!!
We do not how Henry of Bistro Henry continues to out perform previous meals, but he does. The Sunday BBQ entree Combo is beyond generous on the quality and quantity! 5 STAR RATING for sure!
We enjoyed our dining experience very much. The reviews I had read
were spot on and our experience was quite pleasant. The food choices are great and the
food itself was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were on vacation and were
very happy that the restaurant lived up to expectations. Thank you for a lovely evening.

I had the special fish dish and it was fresh and prepared well. I did not review the entire wine list, but was happy with the wines by the glass. Dessert was also delicious.
Amazing and delicious food. Well prepared with attractive plating. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and the chef made a visit to many of the tables throughout the evening.
Overall a wonderful experience. The decor, however, could use updating. With very little work, the restaurant could have a nicer ambiance. The addition of table cloths would spruce up the tables, soft music, and more interesting wall colors and decor would make this place perfect.
We will be back though. The food is incredible.
Loved it - great food and exceptional service. Delicious mussels, perfectly prepared.
The service was incredibly slow. No waitress for at least a half hour then a 45 minute wait for entrees which came out lukewarm. Very disappointing as food was tasty but kitchen and service were bad. Wouldn’t go back. Too many other restaurants to choose from.
Bistro Henry is one of the best restaurants in southern VT. There is great diversity on the menu and you can't go wrong. seafood is at the top of the list. The wine list is very complimentary and prices are reasonable.
We were in town and sought good food and wine. Both can be ontained here with a friendly accomodating bartender and staff. We briefly met the chef, found great choices for the menu then supplemented with more specials. Our waitress was wonderful, hostess very amiable and if you love wine as I do, awesome wine list!!
A great meal, tasty, and nicely presented.
