Bistro du Marché by Tapenade
Diot's inspiration is Paris' bistronomic scene that combines simple local ingredients with culinary elegance and flavorful complexity.
Bistro du Marché brings guests to Paris with a vibrant art deco scene, including a gallery of photographs and art pieces that hail turn of the century Paris.
Conveniently located by the Farmer's Market on Girard Avenue, Chef Diot and his culinary team enjoy visits to the market, where they converse with farmers' representatives. After picking up ingredients from the market, Chef Diot and his team head back to the kitchen to play with hand-picked vegetables and other seasonal ingredients.
Please note that due to a limited seating, we do not take specific table requests. Furthermore, we kindly ask that reservations of over eight people be made via telephone.

Tasty but small dinner plates, great desert, expensive.
Good food and service.
We started with the Lobster Bisque and the Endive Salad and both were delicious. Our entrees were the Lobster Special which was wonderful - Maine lobster on a bed of perfectly cooked white corn in a nicely flavored light foam, and another special for the night - a beautiful piece of Cod with a tasty sauce. A very nice evening!
Meeting family and friends for Sunday brunch, our group of five had not previously been here and found the menu, service, and setting great. We especially appreciated the noise level where we could listen to one another without shouting.
Bistro du Marche is our favorite restaurant in La Jolla. It never disappoints. Hadrian and the entire staff are a joy and provide an atmosphere of grace and welcome. And the food is, in a word, superb.
Wet nice Valentine’s Day menu offering. Great service and excellent quiet evening.
Love this restaurant. The food is delicious and the ambiance delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant
Food was quite good but service was bad. Had to ask for more bread several times. Haricot Vert, always available before, could not be ordered as a side dish...never had this happen before... Bill was quite expensive for what we had. An exception was the wine (a Paso Robles Cabernet) which was well priced and good...
Beautifully prepared meal with wonderful flavor. Very pleasant wait staff. When the restaurant is full, the noise level is high; it would benefit from fewer hard surfaces. However, the food and the decor more than make up for the loudness. The best steak-frites this side of France.
We love the food at Bistro du Marche and have always had good service until this last visit. I hope this was just an off day and that it doesn't continue to be the norm. We wanted to order dessert but it took the waitress ten minutes just to bring us the menu. There were plenty of servers and it wasn't particularly busy so I'm not sure what took so long. We were so annoyed we ended up just laying the bill and going somewhere else for dessert.
BEST STEAK AU POIVRE IN SAN DIEGO, WILL BE BACK, THANK YOU
I liked our waitress, nothing bad, would go get the snails again
We really enjoyed our Saturday evening meal at busy Bistro Marché in La Jolla. From the classic pate appetizer to the petite Basque cheese, everything was nicely presented and delicious. This restaurant never misses a beat.
The sauce used on two roasted meat dishes we had was not savory. Did it lack salt, pepper, or what? Just flavorless.
Each of the four of us ordered something different, but we all claimed that it was the best version we’d ever had. We loved it and will return often.
Always a treat - best in town. The scallops, risotto were excellent.
:You can be assured to have a lovely meal.
New adventure, great night! A fun night out! Staff did well with the extra people who showed up for restaurant week...
The best food and incredible service! Absolutely my most favorite restaurant in town.
Great food with large portions. Very busy night during restaurant week led to inconsistent service. I hate having a course served before the previous course is finished. Wine glasses were empty several times.
The food was ok. I had ordered the duck cassoulet, it was very salty and overcooked. The desserts were delicious!
The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to try authentic French food.
We brought our adult kids and their significant others to Bistro du Marche for a celebration dinner after coming to this place with friends a few months back and enjoying our experience. This time was even better with the best waiter ever. I brought three bottles of older French wine with us and it was opened and served perfectly with our meal. The food was outstanding on all levels and spaced perfectly throughout the multiple courses. We spent three hours lost in the moment. The place was full most of the time, yet we felt intimate in our setting. I like the bistro setting and will come back soon.
Excellent! Tres Bien!
C'est toujours avec beaucoup de plaisir. Merci a vous!

So many "Mercis" Susan. I feel that by now you are fluent in French... Meilleurs voeux pour 2020!
NYE dinner. Waiter Julian was great. Prix Fixe menu was nice. Chose the pheasant (phenomenal) and venison (very good) Desserts were fine but not spectacular. Older affluent (La Jolla) crowd. We had a very nice night.
Thank you for dining with us for New Year's Eve. Chefs Diot, Delahaye and their team are wonderful. They enjoy crafting menus and making savors blast. Best wishes for 2020!
Fine bistrot dining in La Jolla Village: Hard to beat for a splendid evening out!
Hello Barry: Merci for your warm comment and rating... The Bistrot spelling is the right French spelling.. Awesome! Best wishes for 2020!
Our New Year's Eve dining experience was terrific. Each of us had been to Bistro before, so we are familiar with the restaurant. We arrived early for a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar, and before we sat down, the bartender asked, "How about a glass of champagne ?" Yes ! What a wonderful way to greet guests; it was if we were in someone's home. Service throughout the evening was friendly, attentive and prompt. The next course was never brought until all guests had finished the previous one. This attention to detail is very professional and appreciated. The food was excellent (as always), and the pacing of our dinner was perfect. We had such a nice time we made a reservation for next New Year's Eve. Merci to everyone who made the occasion so memorable.
Dearest Alice; Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your New Year's Eve experience with us with the kindest words and the warmest thoughts. We wish you and your guests the best for 2020!
So happy that we went here for our son's 25 birthday celebration. The food was amazing. Better than the food we had in Paris!

Absolutely wonderful. We each chose different entrees, appetizers and dessert- all incredible. Wine list superb
Best restaurant in San Diego
We took brother & sister-in-law from LA for their birthdays & they loved it, felt very special to them.
Service wasn't great; my halibut was dry and tasteless.
I would like to come back on Thursday, January 2 at noon but there’s no table available.
Came for the duck cassoulet, which was excellent. Finished with a lemon tart with a brulee topping, also exceptional. Overall, a relaxing and refreshing meal.
