Thierry Dupont, opened Bistro de Paris in 2000, after entering the Caribbean through the island of St. Martin. His top-level cuisine and gourmet boutique brought the exclusive business of some of the grandest European houses, such as Petrossian and Hediard. His store became a "must-visit" for Puerto Rican tourists and business people. They convinced him that San Juan should be his next business venture.

Bistro de Paris opened in the neighborhood of Miramar; creating an exquisite menu and leading a top level team. After 10 years, the Bistro moved to its current Santurce location. The current kitchen team is a diverse group headed by Mr. Dupont and his partner Estefán Gargost.

We are across the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico, around the corner from the Santurce Fine Arts Center (Centro de Bellas Artes), and a few blocks from the beach (10-minute walk or two-minute drive).

From the entrance meeting the owner of the bistro through desert, our experience was outstanding. The appetizers and main dishes were very tasty and elegantly presented. José waited on us like an old friend. His attention to details and care were fabulous. We’ll be back soon.

We were all celebrating our 39th wedding anniversary with close friends during Restaurant week with pric fixed menus. Ninita was our server and she was excellent. The décor and ambiance made you feel as if you were at a Parisian Bistro. Everything we had was exquisite and in generous portions. The Louis Jadot Chardonnay paired with our dishes was great. The appetizers we had were really good: escargots, mussel soup in a puff pastry and Ratatouille in phyllo wrap were delicious. The tuna filets au poivre in a sauce to die for were a little dry but very tasty. The Pasta Penne with Lobster and curry was superb. The desserts of lemon tart, chocolate mousse and créme brûlée were very good and we all chose the créme brûlée as the best of the three. Overall, I recommend trying this place out for yourself. There is something for everyone!

Consistently delicious. Onion soup is solid. I always order fish and it’s always very nicely prepared. Not your heavy usual kind of French food. Potatoes au gratin are always yummy (maybe just a pinch of salt). Some interesting dishes with curry (mussels, pasta with lobster) and plenty of hot oven baguette from start to finish. Forgot to finish with Thierry’s tarte tatin. Will have to return for that one.
