The food and service are amazing.
I'm so happy to have discovered this place. I'll definitely be back when I'm in Maplewood. Been looking for a new "go to" place and this is it for me. Love the Vegan menu too. It was very nice to meet the owner Mary Conway. So glad this bistro survived the pandemic, esp. as I was getting tired of the local offerings restaurant-wise! This place is pretty new and really wonderful.
Never disappoints! Love the atmosphere, the amazing young servers and the food outstanding!
Awesome fresh and well prepared food. Good vibe and feel. Waitstaff is attentive without being over bearing. Fish and seafood dishes are well prepared and fresh. Cool place. Will be back
The food was fantastic! Beautiful place! Friendly waiters. No one rushed us. The music playing was lovely. The tables were spaced nicely so we didn’t feel crowded (we ate inside). We had duck and lamp chops which were both cooked to perfection! Loved the Lobster Crepe Appetizer. Gelato just hit the spot at the end of the meal. We’ll be back!
I received a call prior to coming to my reservation.. I booked a 9:15PM reservation and they called me to see if I could come early! It made me feel as they would close early and they didn’t want to take my booked reservation.. I said I couldn’t but they still took my 9:15
Place was awesome! It’s BYOB
They have a prefix menu so take a look before you come in , my only concern was that the soup was served in a unflattering way! It looked unappetizing however it was delicious, I pay attention to detail and I think this is important when serving in a luxury restaurant! The lambs were perfect , and the octopus was tasty! I have no complains.. I would come again !
From the moment you walk in they make you feel special. It’s a BYOB wine restaurant with upscale service and food. The food is phenomenal!! It was our second time there and can’t wait to go back again.
Appetizer was great. Steak frites was ordered rare and came medium rare to well done. Presentation, fries were lovey, but…
The food was outstanding. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Had lamb chops which were delicious and perfectly prepared.my wife had the Tile fish and raved about how well prepared and the wonderful sauce and favors.
Perfect Sunday dinner.
Always wonderful and relaxed. Ambiance is sensory pleasing and immaculate with friendly professional staff Flavors are consistent and exciting. Love it
Wonderful experience. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, and the food was delicious.
We had a wonderful dinner in a stunning dining room with so many beautiful details. Our waiter was so helpful and such a delight to talk too.
Can't wait to go back!
We arrived at the restaurant at 8:15 and the wait staff asked what type of water we'd like, and brought us bread service. There were about 8-10 other tables seated. By 8:45 no one had come to take our order. At 8:50, my husband went to let the hostess know - she did not do anything to rectify the situation. A waiter then came over and said "oh did no one come over? I guess we didn't notice." At 8:55 we let them know we'd be leaving - because we still hadn't placed our order after being there for 40 minutes.
The hostess and wait staff were unapologetic. The establishment lacks management who can understand customer service. It is unfortunate because we were looking forward to dining there.
We went for the vegan menu. You have to ask for it when you sit down. You also have to specify outdoor table when you and a Reservation which I did not know and failed To do. The menu had no prices on it unlike the regular menu. The dishes were good although some a little salty for me. We shared a lemon meringue for dessert. It was good but you could really taste the sugar granules. Possibly it was the graham cracker crumbs but either way still delicious.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Highly recommend for special occasions
Excellent service and ambiance. We really enjoyed the vegan menu and the staff was super helpful and accommodating in arranging our food order to fit our dietary needs.
A beautiful room. Why did everything arrive undercooked? Requests ranged from medium to well. Everything arrived medium rare to actually rare. It is not pleasant to have to send things back. Plus, we took pains to explain to the waiter in advance that we did not want anything rare. The chef needs to take care and/or purchase a meat thermometer.
The food is wonderful, service is attentive and ambiance is calming. Loved it!
First time sitting inside since COVID. Meal was delicious, service was great and the ambiance was perfect.
Great food, very nice service, definitely worth checking out but it is pricey so definitely an occasion type of place, not regular weekday dinner.
Anniversary dinner! Thanks for the complimentary champagne 😍
This was an amazing dining experience. Came for a b-day celebration. Was a wonderful evening.
Everything was prepared with artisanship, but I found the appetizer very salty. The rib lamb chops were delicious. The wait staff was friendly and nice, but the person who served the food didn't know ho got what. It is definitely a step above most suburban restaurants and so are its prices. The good news is that they do not have a corkage charge so you can bring your own wine. The price works out to be easily $100/person with 2 courses, and a shared dessert with tax and tip.
We had a great meal! Always a pleaser.
Our first visit and it was the best meal out we’ve had in ages. Food was delicious from start to finish. Three small courses (I opted for three appetizer sized options) was plenty of food—I took home most of my last course as did my husband who had two appetizer sized and a generously portioned entree. Sitting at the bar was perfect for two. Staff was busy and everyone was working hard—it’s definitely a high level of service. Warm, comfortable atmosphere inside. Very clean, tables are well spaced apart. Re: the menu, with some allergies/sensitivities and preferences I was concerned about not knowing the exact menu in advance but found there were plenty of options. They even have a separate all vegan menu and I was told gluten is not used in any of the sauces or dishes aside from the obvious (bread). We had a wonderful evening and will return.
Last minute Father’s Day dinner plans do not typically work out, so getting a table at Bistro D’Azur was a pleasant surprise. The meal was superb. The lobster crepe was rich, and deep with lobster and lobster flavor with just a hint of truffle oil. Mussels— the appetizer special— were a little over done and could have used a bit more acid note with some white wine and herb. The crusted lamb chop entree was to die for. Perfectly cooked, seasoned, and accompanied by seasonal vegetables and couscous. The duck breast entree was similarly prepared and was paired beautifully between the blueberry compote and the rich, crispy duck fat. The service was generally attentive, but came in bursts. 15 minutes after we sat down, we were Finally seen by a very polite, attentive, and knowledgeable waiter. After dessert was ordered, another 25 minutes before a smart and thoughtful waiter noticed something was amiss and asked us, to which we responded that our dessert never showed. 10 minutes later, and a senior staffer brought out our incredible warm, flourless chocolate torte, and said it was on the house. A welcome and generous way to make up for the long wait. The torte, by the way, was one of the best I’ve ever had— candied sliver of orange peel and just a tiny sprinkle of sea salt over the top made the cake come alive in wonderful and unexpected ways. Overall, the experience was marvelous. I’d definitely return.
Everyone was wonderful and friendly
Did not disappoint! Food and service was terrific!
It was a beautiful night to sit outside and enjoy the delicious food. We were a party of six and all were very happy with their food.
The restaurant is lovely. Beautiful environment. We booked an early table (6:30) and were one of only two parties eating inside at the time (there were other tables full outside). Initially the service was professional. We ordered an appetizer and main dish each, and the food was good, though not exceptional. As the restaurant filled up inside, the service became extremely slow. We were interested in dessert and our server told us the options. And then he ignored us for about the next 20 minutes. I had to waive my hand to re-engage his attention. When he finally asked us if we wanted dessert, one of us replied “not anymore.” The server did not acknowledge his delay and in fact would not make eye contact with us. This is the second time we have been to this restaurant, the first time being right after it opened (about 2 years ago I believe). We were disappointed in the service then, but chalked it up to opening pains. After this second experience, we will probably not return.
So sorry Lori. We know our service hasn't been 5 stars lately and we are working non stop to solve it. Since Covid re-openings the industry is suffering a serious labor shortage. Business is coming back faster than work force. We simply cannot find enough staff. At least we are not alone. Thanks for your patience and we hope you'll try again when the crisis has passed.
My new favorite restaurant!!
Very disappointed . When I made the reservation the website said tapas night Thurs and showed a delicious menu. When we arrived the waiter said you were no longer doing tapas night.
So sorry "Eats". We were forced to discontinue Tapas temporarily due to the pandemic labor shortage. We removed it from our website weeks ago, and we also sent emails making an announcement. I am the owner and I was there when you ate with us and you never mentioned you were upset about it. We always accommodate and if you had asked we would have gladly made you Tapas. Speak up next time. We aim to please.
Fabulous food— lobster crepe, duck breast, grilled octopus were outstanding. Wonderful ambience- tables far enough apart, beautiful soft music, and friendly but not intrusive servers. Only complaint was an unacceptable (more than an hour) wait for main courses - perhaps because of large party outside. Will definitely go again.
I was a last minute reservation, and we weren't thrilled with the table. The service was okay, not great. but they were accommodating to agree to switch around a dish to make it shellfish free. Unfortunately it came with a giant Shrimp and had to be returned to the kitchen and one of us had to wait 15 extra minutes to eat. I feel like that dish or even a coffee after dinner should of been comped, that did not happen.. Prices are steep and i was not thrilled with the whole experience. Maybe an off night because i had been there 2 x's before and was very happy. We were a party of 4 and it was a Wednesday night.
The bathroom was impeccable and nicely appointed w/ L'occitane products.
Very attentive staff. Good quiet place for dinner. Food is always excellent leave space for dessert
I am not easy to please, but the food that I had last night for dinner was, as stated in the previous set of questions, OUTSTANDING. The mussels sauté, the fresh seafood salad, the seared tuna were absolutely fresh and prepared to perfection. so was the dessert. Highly recommended .
Get the lobster crepe.
The menu is somewhat limited, and the prix-fixe dinner is somewhat expensive, but the food is outstanding and the service very attentive. Worth the trip and the cost!
Great experience - food and service! We love this local restaurant and are so happy to be able to dine again inside to enjoy the beautiful decor.
