Another stellar meal at Bistro, menu choices are great and the food is excellent, probably one of the best restaurant around and certainly rivaling the high dining in NJ. Everything was delicious from starter to dessert. We will be back (soon)
Outstanding service and food. Decor was fantastic as well. We will definitely be going back.
Excellent meal, friendly and knowledgeable staff, highly recommended!
Hands down the best dining experience in NJ. The food was impeccable and so delicious, the service was outstanding and the overall ambience was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant. I have been to so many restaurants in the US and Europe and the cuisine and experience was to tier. Thank you Bistro d’ Azur for a wonderful dining experience.
Fantastic meal with the family for New Years Day. Had the lobster crepe plus the prime rib special - Chef Rich is so talented.
Bistro d'Azur is always a treat. Great service, delicious food perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. In my opinion , if not the best, certainly one of the best restaurants in the area.
We had such a lovely evening ... they make you feel like you're special, take your coats upon arrival (small but important detail). The tables are large and set far enough apart. The service is excellent. Our problem (not the restaurant's) is we individually and collectively have issues which prohibit us from fully enjoying the varied and interesting menu which is too bad for us. Everything sounds delicious and deducing from our two recent meals there, the food is top notch with careful attention to presentation and flavor details. A most enjoyable experience in a suburban town! Oh, and they have a terrific jazzy playlist which adds to the experience. Highly recommended.
This place is our go to place when we want amazing food, great service and a lovely ambiance. So, Ofcourse we were here for New Years Eve dinner. Spend 3 hours over the most amazing 4-course meal. The food was perfect. I can never get over the lobster crepes and their steak is always cooked to perfection. The service is attentive without rushing us through our meal. Was a relaxed and wonderful New Years Eve.
The food was not good
Top notch service and food, would definitely recommend, just an FYI its BYOB
One of the best meals we have had in sometime. Will return.
Once again outstanding food, service and ambience.
Wonderful night out. Will definitely be going back - next time carrying a bottle of my BYOB wine :-)
Birthday dinner was exceptional. Great service, host and staff were courteous and friendly.
This is my new favorite North Jersey restaurant. Beautiful decor with well spaced tables. The food looked exquisite and tasted fabulous. My dining partner and I each chose the two course prix fixe option. Since we both chose the same first and second courses, we were unable to taste other dishes; however, the lobster crepe first course and the lavender honey roast duck were both outstanding. I had notified the restaurant that we were celebrating a birthday and they presented us with a lovely French champagne to toast the occasion. A very thoughtful touch! We will definitely return.
80th birthday party for my law partner. Fabulous food. Amazing service. Can’t wait to go back.
Excellent service plus high quality food and ambiance. Highly recommendable.
This was the second time we visited Bistro d’Azur. Both times were for regional dinners (first Burgundy, then Bordeaux. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent l and well presented. The service was fantastic. We’ll be back!
This place is a hidden gem. Service is top notch and the meals are presented beautifully and are equally delicious. I actually usually just check stars and don’t write reviews, but this place is so good that I had to. Enjoy.
Bistro d'Azur has amazing food - it's like a flavor explosion in your mouth with every bite! The wait staff is phenomenal - kind and very attentive. In addition, there is a wonderful ambiance whether inside or out. Highly recommended.
Our first visit and it was a lovely meal. Will be back to try different dishes. Happy to have this option nearby.
The food, ambiance, and experience were all amazing. The service, however, could have been better at this price; our waiter was quite gruff and not very welcoming, and would expect more when coming for a prix fixe experience.
It was a great experience; the food was outstanding. The ambiance was enjoyable and calming. The service was friendly and informative.
The food is fantastic and the decor is lovely. The plant-based menu is divine.
The food can only be described as exquisite!! And this is true for the many different items(appetizer, main course and desert) we have enjoyed during many visits over the past few years. All items can also be described as deliciously creative.
We have never been disappointed with anything.
That is why we return regularly for dinner.
I was looking forward to a price fixe as I find choosing easier from a limited first and second course all delicious to the eye. My wife, friends and I were not disappointed. The food is well presented and very tasty. We all had different dishes including venison, duck and swordfish. We had our own wine - a red burgundy; the choice of deserts were too amazing with lavender infused crème brûlée, home made ice cream and a cake with glazed cognac.
Food was amazing. Everything was perfectly cooked. Great menu.
This is an elegant, warm, wonderful place that serves outstanding, delicious food. I would highly recommend it!
High end bistro food in South Orange. It has become our go to for us and friends. Other than a slight problem with the frites of the steak frites, great food.
The non-alcoholic drinks are especially unusual.
You'd never know what a warm environment awaits from the street! Service, while a little slow at the start (but what isn't these days???), was friendly, helpful and professional. Table for 6 and each of loved all of our dishes. Plenty of wine glasses and decanters at the ready for your BYO. Will definitely be back!
Lovely evening Chef Richard did great job as usual! Bravo
I initially was going to go into Manhattan but I had enjoyed my last dinner here and I decided to see if it had sorted out the kinks of a new restaurant. It started off a little bumpy, we had to ask for a wine list after our first course of three had arrived but it improved once we started eating. The bartender offered a glass of champagne once we mentioned we were celebrating my husband's birthday and although I am not a huge fan it was lovely and crisp. The attention to detail was exemplary. We ordered six different dishes to get a nice sampling and nothing fell short. The grilled octopus was perfectly cooked, seared and smoky on the outside and soft and sublime on the inside. The salmon was a delight, a usually overly sauced dish to disguise a lack of ambition this iteration was I think similar to a salmon tartar with a crisp bright taste that was surprising and perfection. Perfectly portioned venison meatballs with a rich tomato chutney was another hit with the a combination of flavors that was the best type of gamey and sweetly tart. The scallops were generous and full of briny goodness with plenty of sauce for the requisite bread dunk! My husband moaned when he ate his duck, the one dish I refuse to make at home having done a seared Peking duck decades before and still haunted by the memory. My lamb shank a la Flintstone was so mammoth I will be having a sandwich the day after. The chef chatted with us at we sat at the bar and added a dish of foraged mushrooms to our last course that tipped this experience into the sublime. Braised lamb with risotto and mushrooms was a meal I last ate in Italy and this was right up there minus the view. A lavender flavored crème brulee and a piece of chocolate heaven, my husband's words, finished the meal in style. All in all another feather in the cap of what I hope will be a premier local restaurant for many years to come.
Thank you so much for this wonderful review. Just to clarify, for others reading this, we don't have a liquor license (none available/NJ's bizarre laws). We are a BYOB restaurant, but have a very limited selection of wines available for purchase, by the bottle, through special arrangement with Unionville Vineyards. So, bring your own, or feel free to order off the front page of our menu. No corkage fee ever, and we will provide decanters for those bold reds! Thanks again for your kind words.
Have dined at Bistro d’ Azur several times now. Fabulous food, fabulous overall dining experience!
Great food and service!
Bistro D’Azur hit for the cycle with their French (Burgundy) Wine Dinner last night! Food, wine pairings, service, and overall ambiance were Best-in-Class and we can’t wait for the next wine dinner…cheers!
The Chef went out of his way to create a perfect event. My criticism was too much food. Would have preferred one dish either CoqauVin or beef not both. Will definitely return
The service was great from the moment we walked in until we left. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The meal, a taste of burgundy, was excellent. We look forward to returning.
Very good service. Sat at the bar. Everyone from hostess to waiter and chef/owner stopped by to ask if everything was good.
Will definitely go back, and hopefully, be seated in the main dining room.
Attentive service and delicious food. Will definitely return!
