I had a great time, food was delicious and not to mention Sarah our waitress was great! wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I tried snails for the first time delicious!
Love this place. Excellent food, atmosphere and wonderful service and staff. Highly recommend it. Jeff is an excellent bartender!!
A gathering of friends before a concert at Old Town - exceptional service, delightful food and an embracing ambience. Thanks for another great evening!
Sever was not very attentive. Had to send back fish entrée as it was over cooked. Once cooked correctly it was very good.
Well-prepared food from a nicely balanced menu.
Conscientious and informed service. More crowded than anticipated. But that didn’t compromise the quality of food or service.
Wonderful anniversary dinner...again!
We love everything about Bistro Campagne! Our prix fix dinner options were outstanding and a wonderful value!
The food was delicious & so well prepared! Very indulgent flavors & melt-in-your-mouth goodness. We added the wine pairings to our meal which was a nice splurge - I highly recommend Bistro Campagne for a special occasion dinner - delicious!
We've been going to Bistro Campagne for years. We've had mostly positive experiences ... like this last time. We each had a different meal, and I tasted each thing on the table, and each item was tremendous. I'd never had boeuf bourguignon before, so I thought I'd try it. It was one of my most favorite meals ever. SO flavorful and tender. My husband had a pork chop which was beyond compare. The rest of the food was lovely, too. Our waitress was there when we needed her and never too intrusive. She had the right balance of personality and charm. We asked for a quiet table, and let me tell you, it was ideal. Overall, another great experience a terrific local place.
Sunday brunch was absolutely delicious! The pain perdu Was to die for and is my daughters favorite! I love this place!
We have eaten at Bistro Campagne before but not in a couple of years. We went to see if it had maintained its high quality since we were planning to host a party for 15 people there. The meal was great and so we are booking space in the cottage section which is separate from the rest of the restaurant and best suits our needs.
Wonderful dinner with attentive and prompt service. Waitress was quite knowledgeable on the night's offerings.
I've eaten at Bistro Campagne many times before. It's a lovely, cozy place and I usually have no reservations about anything I eat there. We were there on a Wednesday evening (early reservation) and the place was not very crowded. We started with the cheese and charcuterie plate, which I hadn't had before, and really enjoyed. For our main, we both happened to order the boeuf bourguignon, which I actually had the last time I was there. Obviously, it was quite good if I ordered it again on the next visit. However, this time there seemed to be less beef and more lardons. It really detracted from my enjoyment of the dish.
In addition, although we were there quite early and the restaurant was not very crowded, our waitress really rushed us. I've been there when the line is out the door -- there were no diners waiting to be seated and plenty of empty tables, so I don't know why she was in such a hurry. This has not been my experience at Bistro Campagne before, and I hope it was an aberration and not a new norm.
Still, I would recommend this wonderful place for 2 - 4 people that are looking forward to a wonderful meal in a cozy, casual setting.
Going to Sunday brunch at Bistro Campagne is a great way to experience this wonderful restaurant at an affordable price. We have gone to brunch on Easter for many years. Love the comfy atmosphere and the food is always great. It's always easy to talk and hear your dining companions. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Absolutely lovely from start to finish. Wonderful ambiance, jazzy music, beautiful service, outstanding food. Can't wait to return in the warm weather season to enjoy the patio. Simply sublime.
Great in all ways!
Always perfect, we are so lucky to live nearby.
Great meal and experience at our favorite restaurant in Chicago! Dining at the bar with friends is always a great time especially in the capable hands of their friendly experienced staff. Jeff the bartender always provides for a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Had a wonderful dinner here yesterday evening. Service, drinks, appetizers, and entrees were were all very good. Recommendations: the Bed and Breakfast bourbon cocktail and the duck, steak, and trout entrees. The pommes frites we ordered for the table were warm, crisp, and nicely seasoned. The restaurant is cozy without being cramped or overly noisy, and the decor includes interesting tile work on the walls. Will definitely be back.
The filet mignon version of the Steak Frites was great as usual.
Last Saturday was my 3rd time at Bistro Campagne and I just loved it! This time I made a
reservation for an earlier time as my friend and I had a show to catch and the seating was
just right - table for 2 with a nice space heater in a comfy nook - we were able to talk
and catch up and though it got busier as the evening wore on, it was never too loud where
we were seated. The whole staff was just excellent, friendly attitude, good advice on wine pairing. I enjoyed the wine, salad, wine and steak very much. It's also very close to where
my daughter lives so it 's also great for when I come to visit with her too. : )
Keep up the great work!! Thanks!
Food not as good as it used to be.
The food was delicious, we had escargot and artichoke fondue for starters and it was delicious ( with amazing warm French bread). Our main courses were very generous but it was so delicious we had no leftovers. The service was excellent, from the bar and the table. Very nice atmosphere, we really feel like we are in a bistro in Europe.
This is one of my new favorites and go to place for dinner.
Great service and outstanding food! Thank you!
Remains one of my favorites. Great food, great service.....and, as always.....awesome!
As always, a fantastic evening. Food was sensational, service friendly and knowledgeable, atmosphere superb. Try the escargot, the onion strudel, Amish chicken, rainbow trout, pork chop...try everything. You won’t be disappointed!
Enjoyed brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Had the spinach salad, burger, and Benedict. All very good.
Always a delicious place to enjoy a chef inspired meal and great wine!
Can I say the bread is excellent? We had a excellent meal. Beef Bourgonione was tremendous. Service is weird sometime...as I was giving my order the waitress was just staring off into space. Loved that pot de chocolate.
Wonderful as always! Love the new additions to the appetizer menu. The salt roasted beets were a HUGE hit with all of us. The fromage/charcuterie plate was to die for. Every bite was delicious. My friend always says, "For the best roast chicken in Chicago, go to Bistro Campagne". I could not agree more. It is perfect. We had a delightful server, a quiet spot for conversation and celebration. Lovely.
Have eaten at Bistro Campagne many times. The food is always excellent as is the service. Traditional French done very well. Not cheap, yet so consistently good that we plan to continue to go here as long as they are around.
We really had a great time. Pay street parking in front. Seated in the really great cottage room towards the back and loved it. Cozy and a great spot for a little romance or quiet conversation. Service was very friendly and attentive. Food was very good with with day's special really standing out as excellent. Will definately return.
If not one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago, then definitely my favorite French restaurant. Great for cold winter evenings or warm summer brunch on the outside patio. Classy, but not stuffy. The interior is elegant and warm. The outdoor patio is quaint and charming. A wonderful restaurant for date night or a group of 4 or 6. Also nice for Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc. It's next to the Old Town School of Folk Music so can be a nice pre-concert dinner or maybe post-concert drink.
we truly enjoyed our dinner for my husband's birthday. the food is genuinely good. and and service was prompt . we would likely go again for a date night or special occasion as well. I particularly like the outside patio in the summer for a quaint and memorable experience.
Neighbourhood French restaurant
We had dinner on Saturday and we enjoyed the food and service. The waitress told us about the special ( reinterpreted version of a scalop entree ) that was not on the menu and we tried it , it was delicious . The filet mignon was cooked to perfection as well. The space may be sligltly on the noisy side and some of the tables are too close one to the other but the service and the food was great . Make sure you book a table in advance as they are fully booked most of the time.
Food reminded me of France. We had the steak tartare, the lyonnaise salad, the duck, and the trout. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was fantastic. We had an 8pm show to get to and she made sure to get the food out so that we would not be late. We never felt rushed. Definitely will be back!
As always, food and service were wonderful!!
We held our monthly book club meeting there for dinner. This was our first meeting at a restaurant. Everyone thought it was a great experience, I noted on Open Table that we would prefer an area that was quieter, as we would be discussing our book choice. We were seated in area away from everyone that was perfect for our event. The food was delicious from the salad, to the main course, to the dessert. The bartender selected a wine for me and it was excellent, as well. Good Time was had by all and that's not always easy to accomplish!
Food was great. Waitress was ok. Would definitely go back.
