Our food was quite good. The Salad Lyonaise was fresh and very delicious. The Steak Frites was was perfectly cooked and served with delicious sauce. The chicken entree was quite large and superb! Out wait person was very attentive and polite. A very nice meal!
It's on the pricier side so we decided to try during restaurant week with the special menu. Everything was amazing. And our server Ryan was so nice and helpful describing the wines for us and pacing our meal just right!
Food was good but not Wow from what we were led to believe from others we know whom had gone before. Also the restaurant inside was very warm/hot inside without any lack of any fresh air or ventilation thus smelling everything that moved inside that was unpleasant at times. Service was good, lacked any enthusiasm or passion for the food itself and the menu offerings. It was the end of Restaurant week and so maybe a lack of spirit was there but still a little disappointing, especially for a Friday evening at only 7pm.
Always outstanding. Highly recommended.
Great restaurant week deal, with all of their best items!
Me and my friends tried this place because of the restaurant week. And this place was just fantastic! The service was very good. But the best part was the food, and the mussels was so delicious that you just wanna keep eating it. I’ll be sure to come back here. The waiter was so knowledgeable he’s been there for 15 yrs and knows the menu very well. Next come back we’re ordering escargot and pork chop!
Never had a bad meal at Bistro Campagne. Such a friendly neighborhood place, bistro atmosphere, noisy in a nice way but not "can't hear you at all" level. The escargot was amazing with the piping hot baguette, and the bouillabaisse that is a seasonal specialty was every bit as good as I remembered it. And one can find parking!
Perfect bistro food. I felt as if I was dining in the 5th.
what was purpose of asking if we there for special event? It was mine and my husband's birthday and there was zero acknowledgement...not even a candle! So why ask????
Have been going to Bistro Campagne for many years and have never had a bad meal/experience. This occasion was no different. My white fish was some of the best I've ever had.
My wife and I have been to this restaurant several times and we are always impressed with the service and the quality of the food. We were there on Wednesday and they had a fixed price dinner that was a good deal. We went for my wife's birthday with our youngest daughter (an adult) It was her first time and she was also very happy with the food. The portions were more than adequate. We will surely return.
We had friends in from NYC and we were all vey impressed with the service and the food was amazing!
Exquisite meal, lovely ambience ... we will be back!
What a wonderful experience at Bistro Campagne! The service, food, and champagne were out of this world! Thanks for making our celebration extra special!
Always a favorite. Best restaurant in Chicago. Reliable. Delicious. GreT service.
Poor menu for French restaurant. Slow service
Wonderful people excellent service and exceptional food. Me and my wife had fabulous time for her birthday!
Very good food and good value. Service was first rate. Server had far better knowledge of the wine list than is typical, and was able to help find selections that matched with the guests' particular tastes. We will definitely go back soon.
The service is usually great, but last night was a bit off. A new waiter we had not seen before. He wasn’t up to the usual standard we’ve come to expect from Bistro Campagne. The drinks and the food were marvelous, as always. Still a favorite spot for great French food. We’ll definitely be back.
Loved our dinner overall. Had the Steak fries, Mussels, Vol au Vent and profiteroles. We sat in the courtyard which is so private. We loved it. Our server was super nice and even provided us with her "homemade" moskito spray. Fantastic
Quaint my friend and I both ordered the Croque Madame - highly recommend, obviously with Prosecco - I highly recommend both!
The sirloin steak was very tough. Ditto for the Bistro Filet from the last trip. Chicken was good. This was a go to place for us for years, but it seems like the protein quality has taken a real step down. Please just charge a little more, and deliver Prime quality meats. Salads, soups and bread continue to be excellent. Our service was very adequate. $5 upcharge for a different potato seemed like a gouge. Overall, we left disappointed. Would like our old standby back.
Be prepared for a loud dinner in a crowded room. The food is good and the service is very good. I love the steak tartar. It’s a bit smaller than I remembered but tastes wonderful
Excellent food and service. We love it here. Very consistent. Got a bit noisy by the end of the meal but not where we were sitting. Just in the front room. We will return!
Love this place. Reminds me of Europe. The food, service and ambiance is outstanding. It’s a wonderful place for celebrations as well!
Very good food and wonderful wine choices. Small, quaint, beautiful little French restaurant with a wonderful menu. I especially recommend the scallop appetizer salad. Absolutely delicious!!!! Save room for the bread pudding dessert. Will definitely return.
I can recommend going to Bistro Campagne for an early dinner on the patio. Very quiet, entirely peaceful, excellent service, and great food.
There is so much good with this place you can’t go wrong
Make sure you make a reservation
I loved it = a bit noisy with folks at the bar talking too loud but what can you do
We love this place. It’s expensive but worth the money.
We were dining prior to a concert at Old Town School of Music which is nearby. The ambience is amazing. Tiny rooms with tables crowded in but a semblance of privacy. Like an old house with several small rooms. I did ask for a quiet table and there really aren’t any as groups and children can sound loud in small spaces. We did have a charming window table though. There is a lovely patio, but the weather was uncooperative. Good beer selection and rose’ champagne was delicious. Our server was knowledgeable, but spoke softly and quickly so she was difficult to understand. The meal was not rushed. We took our time, having an appetizer. The server brought the wrong one, for some reason, apparently not hearing that we wanted the charcuterie and cheese, but it was good anyway. Very nicely presented. We both ordered a steak which was the most expensive item. It was described as a filet. The server indicated that it really wasn’t as tender as a filet. Understatement. I finally became tired of sawing through it and chewing it and gave up. Did not like the duchess potatoes. We did not order a dessert. To me, it was typical Lincoln Park overpricing, unfortunately. But I would return for a glass of bubbly and maybe try dessert.
The food here is exceptional. We shared the mussels appetizer. They were plentiful and sat in a delicious broth that we stopped up with the crusty warm bread served. I had the whitefish which sat on a pea purée with a buerre noisette surrounding the very moist fish fillet. The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My friend had the salmon, topped with salmon roe and accompanied by lyonnaise potatoes. She said it was the best salmon she’s ever ordered out, and she frequently orders salmon. The restaurant has a charming outdoor patio. The service is friendly and knowledgeable but somewhat haphazard and uneven. This is my second visit. Exhale and let go of the waitstaff’s apparent inability to multitask. I’m also sorry that the food runners seem not to know which item to place where so there’s a short food auction at the table.
The worst service ! The server looked annoyed did not check in with us throughout the evening. Food too long to be served. My steak was so chewy, I sent it back. Server did not offer anything in exchange, simply took my plate and walked away... horrible!
We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and everything was great -- food, service, wine, ambience. Kudos to the whole staff.
Lindsay was the best!!
The food and service were spot on! And we enjoyed sitting outside as the weather that evening was amazing...there outdoor seating is quiet and adorable!
As always, classic bistro food beautifully prepared, with a few entirely appropriate modern twists.
Atmosphere was perfect, we sat on the patio outside. Service was excellent. Salmon was fabulous but the steak was just okay. Wine (of course) was great, too. I'd go back, but I wouldn't order the steak again.
Outstanding food and wine!
