We went here for our Wedding Anniversary. Beautiful atmosphere, knowledge serving staff and AMAZING food!
Very underwhelming for a French bistro. The duck was horrific. Server never check back about a second round of drinks. Almost all the employees were engaging with us whom had their mask half off their face- not covering their nose- The coq Au vin was really good. But server didn’t try to offer us any sides or other items- made us feel like we were bothering her. Desert was good.
Cozy environment for a romantic dinner. Great food, drinks, and service!
Had the old fashioned and the filet mignon. The ravioli is to die for!
The menu looks quite good, but the execution of dishes was lackluster. That was disappointing, but as a first visit it could have been our menu choices. The evening was redeemed by the warm, professional service from everyone on the staff, especially our truly outstanding server. The french decor and delightfully warm ambiance were pluses as well.
The food was outstanding with an excellent wine accompaniment. Just the right level of noise for a Saturday night.
Eduardo was fantastic and the food and wine was even better. We celebrated our 17th anniversary and had a wonderful meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially if your looking for a wonderful meal to celebrate together.
Good food, great service. French ambiance
Consistently excellent dining experience. Onion soup rich and beefy. Steak frites nice portion with premium cut and cooked perfectly. Coq au vin also well prepared and gorgeous presentation. Service always attentive and professional.
The quality of the food was unmatched. I would recommend the braised chicken; best chicken dish I’ve ever had. My only complaint is that I felt a little cramped at the table where we sat.
It was great - I will return and look forward to it
We simply love Bistro Cacao. It never fails to deliver!
The food was very good. The service was amazing, very friendly and constantly checked on us
This is our go-to place for any special occasion and sometimes for no special occasion. We ate outside, the weather was perfect, the service excellent and the food wonderful as always.
Delightful location inside and outside. Menu is diverse enough so something for everyone. Excellent service and presentation. Superb food. Highly recommend.
Everything I've had there has been great. My most recent lunch included the Credvettes Grille appetizer which included the best grilled shrimp I have EVER had.
Very good French cuisine. The restaurant is impeccable, and the service is outstanding. From what we could tell, the chef brings the plates to each table and ensures your meal is to your satisfaction. It is a smaller restaurant, but you never feel cramped and it there are great alcoves for couples to dine. An overall amazing experience.
Great meal! Loved the luxurious and warming atmosphere. My meal, the lamb, was perfectly cooked and the appetizers were delicious. I really liked how intimate the set up was with having curtains separating tables so it was more private and personal. The hostess and waiting staff were delightful. Overall a swell and splendid place to enjoy a delicious meal, cocktail, and wine in an old fashioned yet luxurious environment. -El
Food was very good and our server Aylin made every effort to make our dining experience excellent.
Filet mignon was cookes to perfection as usual.
It was perfect for the occasion, a visit with friends I had not seen in several years. The waiter let us talk for quite a while before ordering and to stay on long after the eating had ended.
Bistro Cacao food and service is consistently excellent!
Amazing food service and ambiance
Very good food at reasonable prices. The strawberry salad was amazing as was the tuna small plate. Our party also liked the duck and the strawberry rhubarb dessert.
Very romantic and delicious fine French cuisine! This is a hidden gem in DC!!
Bistro Cacao always offers fine food in a quieter atmosphere. One can linger at this restaurant, enjoying the company of one's companions, having enjoyed well prepared French classics, as well as more contemporary and innovative offerings. Food is also very well plated, which enhances one's overall experience. A good choice for intimate groups and dates.
Nothing like I expected
Amazing. The service and food were incredible.
Every aspect of our first experience with Bistro Cacao was splendid. We will be returning for many more special occasions.
Food and drinks were delicious! Ambience is also very relaxing. Definitely recommend.
A delicious and enjoyable meal as always!
Absolutely lovely. It was our first time at this restaurant. The decor is very cool: Lot’s of romantic red in the upstairs dining room,Interesting chandeliers. great prints and art all over the place ( felt like I was in, Montmartre, Paris). I had the lamb chops. A bold choice for me as being European, I have rarely find American chefs who can cook lamb without ruining it.
Excellent food, drinks, and service. A very cozy and intimate atmosphere. A must try.
We are on vacation and this is my first time to DC. If you want a French experience from ambiance to food to music, go to Bistro Cacao. We had 3 small course- salads, then mussels and escargot, then French onion soup. Every plate was beautifully presented and the flavors were perfect. Karen, the host and perhaps owner was welcoming and met our every need. Go! You will love it!
Went for Restaurant Week. Food was outstanding. Service was a bit lacking. Crême brulée was disappointing.
Restaurant week menu was great - several great choices for each item. Loved the snails w/ mushroom caps and the Fr onion soup starters. We both loved our perfectly cooked duck breast entrees with the sunchoke puree and pickled mushrooms, which provided a nice bite contrast with the duck. And the creme brulee was delightfully light. Downer: the mille feuille. There were no 'mille' in the mille feuille. The three layers were each solid and hard - more like hard graham crackers, instead of flaky layers of puff pastry.
Ambience is wonderful - that upstairs with the light drapery divided spaces for two, so romantic, private, cozy, quiet.
Delightful and delicious! Parisian vibe, tasty French favorites and nicely priced wines to pair. Looks just like the photos online.
The salmon salad was great. Salmon flavorful and moist - not dried out as in other places. Same attentive service. Gazpacho with watermelon refreshing!
Not worth the price. Went on restaurant week, selection and portion sizes were very small, not really classically French, and actual food was hit or miss. Steak and fries and salad were very good, but creme brule was subpar (I’ve made better at home) and profiteroles were dense and not very flavorful. They charged us 6.50 for two glasses of water…waiter was very nice and attentive. Overall left hungry, not terribly impressed, and with a much lighter wallet.
It was good to come back to Bistro Cacao after a long absence. They have taken over the property next door, giving them a larger bar area--my first martini at a bar in 15 months! Their upstairs booths have new and airy red curtains (replacing the old musty ones), and the elegant.Pariesienne atmosphere has been preserved. The food is very good--excellent mussels in a creamy lemon broth. My mushroom ravioli were delicious and my husband's steak frites was top-notch--very crispy potatoes.
