Great atmosphere, perfect design and very nice place to take your date. Food is very delicious and tasty. They have very nice patio as well. I prefer the red room if you like to sit inside. Try their calamari with pineapple and blue cheese. Great wine selection. Recommended. Cheers...
They were about 40 minutes late to seat us to our reservation, which was frustrating. Service went off without a hitch afterwards, though! Delicious food and the ambiance is incredible.
We had a reservation but still had to wait to be seated. We didn't receive an apology nor were we compensated drinks. The dinner, atmosphere, and waiter service was great, but the hostess needs to be retrained.
My friends and I went here specifically for the patio outside and the neighborhood. It's one of those places you drive past a million times but it took 2 years to make it inside...kinda. We ordered the escargot, the duck, mussels, and the steak (it was a special). With the price points, expectations are high but everything met expectations, except the duck-- it was absolutely fantastic! For dessert, we got the creme brûlée trio and profiteroles. The server did not miss a beat and the dessert was the perfect end to a perfect meal. We loved the ambiance, the fact that we could talk and talk and never have to yell, or people watch if we wanted. Highly recommended! It was just perfect.
One of our favorite places! My husband and I always look forward to BC! We took our in-laws this time and they loved it! Definitely a gem!
I went on a Wednesday evening with some relatives from out of town that enjoy French food. While the food was great, we had to wait close to 30 minutes for our table to be ready (we had made a reservation in advance) and more than an hour for our food to be served. Not sure if it was a server issue or just the place being too busy, but be ready to wait.
Nice environment but I have two main complaints: (1) I ordered a medium rare fillet mignon and came out well done (=barely edible). (2) I couldn't send it back because we got served 1h and 30' late, and we had to eat within 20' to make sure that my guest can catch his train. Feeling rushed and stressed is not a pleasant experience for a business dinner, which is worse than a ruined steak.
Food was very good. Not too expensive. I had the mushroom ravioli with shrimp. A good portion of ravioli and shrimp. My date had the mussels and fries. There were ample portions of both. We split a salad. Didn't have room for dessert. The restaurant was very quiet. Would definitely go again.
Not our first visit, nor our last. A lovely Tuesday evening dinner in one of the coveted 2 person "alcoves" where we could have a quiet and private conversation. High quality ingredients (lamb and duck) contribute handsomely to the classically prepared entrees. We thought we'd be able to have cocktails outside when we originally booked but that will have to wait until the arrival of Spring if it ever comes.
Great food and service. Intimate setting to celebrate our anniversary.
Brunch was excellent. i had smoked salmon omlette and the rest of my family each had something different. We all enjoyed our food. The waitress could have been a bit more friendly.
We chose the chef tasting menu. The food was delicious and the wines were paired perfectly, however the wait between courses was extremely long.
This is a consistently great restaurant. Funky decor with superb food. And not overly noisy. Great place to meet old friends.
I'm always pleased with the food and service at Bistro Cacao. Their soup of the day is always excellent, the staff friendly, and the ambiance is very inviting.
We always enjoy Bistro Cacao, pleasant, reasonably quiet and great French atmosphere
The food, ambience and table area was quite romantic. Rose petals were strewn across the table. It was a honeymoon dinner with a close friend and two cousins.
The staff were awesome and not too over bearing. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Excellent wine options, fish was exceptional and paired well.
The food is always excellent and the service matched it. It was fun to eat in the Wine Bar to mix things up. Looking forward to the next time.
Very quiet and romantic. Great food and wine. The somolier was superb in helping us find the perfect pairing with our meal.
Very nice and intimate dining experience! Servers were extremely friendly and the perfect amount of attentive. Omelette could’ve used some salt but salt and pepper was supplied at the table. Brunch cocktails were very tasty and reasonably priced for DC!
Always lovely dining at the Bistro. The general manager is extremely friendly, polite, and very professional. The entire staff is so professional! I will be back soon.
A little quirky and lots of fun. Had a great time.
Bistro CaCao is always a delight! It is my go to special occasion restaurant when I want a quiet intimate evening. The food is amazing and the service is 5 stars!
Charming romantic old-French lovely setting. Even if the food had not been great (lamb and duck were wonderful though), we would have been charmed. A great special occasion setting, quiet, many tables have curtains that potentially could close, although all the diners that night left them open, probably to enjoy the lovely ambience created by the soft (red lampshade) lighting and red velvet curtains throughout this adorable restaurant. Service was good throughout, making for a memorable evening.
The wait staff was some of the best I've experienced in the DC area...very attentive, and easy to casually talk to. Atmosphere was striking at first, but then very enjoyable as we felt we were in an old world french restaurant.
Wonderful alfresco lunch experience. Lovely salad with perfectly cooked salmon.
Large number of gluten free options and nice wines
Wonderful, intimate, romantic dining experience!
Way overpriced. Good ingredients, but uninteresting and not very French taste.
This Charming restaurant has so much potential. Our party of 7 needed to wait for their table however there was no bartender for us to be able to have a cocktail in advance. When we were shown to art table it took 5 minutes to get the menu, and additional 5 minutes for someone to come to the table to tell us about the specials however no one asked if we wanted drinks. The food was quite good however.
Service was off, we sat upstairs. Also my vegeterian dish came without the tofu and the server said nothing.
Food was terrific, the ambiance and decor was amazing, overall it was a wonderful night.
Had a wonderful meal, sitting st the bar!
Great cocktails, friendly service and delicious food!
Definitely worth it!
Bistro Cacao is one of the few restaurants in the city where one can have an excellent French meal in a quiet setting. The tables are widely spaced and many soft surfaces absorb sound.
Very rude waiter....who was overly opinionated about our orders. But great food!
As always, the food and service were phenomenal! One of the top French restaurants in DC!
Okay experience. Would not go back!
The wait staff was excellent as was the food and the ambience. However the hostess appeared unfriendly and unaccomodating while we waited to be seated although we had confirmed reservations.
This is the most fun and eccentric restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of a meal in Washington D C. I travel to this city once a year and look forward to next years meal.
Great and fun dinner
Bistro Cacao was having a bad day and tried to make good on it with a lot of comps. I'll gladly give them a second chance as I really like the location and the food.
