Bistro Cacao Ratings and Reviews
Date night before concert at capital one. Awesome food. Very cozy and quaint room. Very close to the arena. Will come again. My wife had the escargot and duck. She said it was excellent. I had the onion soup and rack of lamb which was the best I’ve had.
We were seated at least 20 minutes before a couple came and who were seated by a window. Despite my friend and I being there at our table before the other two people, we were served our drinks and food AFTER the other them. I mentioned this to our waiter who gave a response that was not sufficient.
Most important was the ambiance: quiet, private, inviting. The cuisine was top notch -- reminder of Paris. Everything was done just right: the flavors, the presentation. The service was very personable, yet professional. I always recommend Bistro Cacao to all my friends. If you want a truly delightful dining experience, it's Bistro Cacao.
They do all the basics very well. French Onion Soup, escargot, steak frites, all excellent. Consistently delivers quality French cuisine at reasonable prices. Wine by the glass is pretty good, a rare thing to find these days. Would like to see the wine by the bottle list less marked up, particularly the French red wine which is more inflated than some of the American options. Great cozy wintertime spot.
It was our anniversary. Wonderful ambiance, quiet. We had a great bottle of wine and a fabulous dinner. The rack of lamb was out of this world and the swordfish was moist and delicious. Great salads. We topped the meal off with profiteroles. Service was impeccable.
Moderately expensive, but well worth the money.
We saw Bistro Cacao on the new Check Please show on WETA two weeks before our anniversary and I immediately made reservations. It was all we hoped and more--the food was absolutely spectacular. The service was friendly and attentive without being pushy. The somewhat quirky decor was nevertheless luxurious--our 2-top booth with comfy armchairs was perfect for an intimate anniversary dinner. I had the very good venison rack, but my wife's rack of lamb made me regret my choice. The calamari with blue cheese and pineapple seemed so odd I had to try it, and I was blown away. It's pricey, but not out of line with similar restaurants in the DMV.
Everyone in our office knows Bistro Cacao. It's the "nice" place we go for special occasions, for lunch when we want to relax or have a more intimate setting, for the occasions when we need to take a visitor to lunch. So it was natural that our small group of close friends would choose Bistro Cacao for a retirement dinner for a beloved colleague. The setting was perfect -- a space of our own -- the food was very, very good, and the waiter was attentive to exactly the right degree. We're glad we can count on Bistro Cacao every time.
This was reviewed on Check Please and it really appealed to me for its ambience which is charming and for the authentic food. So a friend and I tried it. We both had omelettes. Mine was a goat cheese/lobster filling, the other was ham. Bothh came with a side salad and tiny potatoes. Good French bread, of course. All was washed down with a Prosecco rather than a champagne. We were so relaxed we could have stayed all afternoon. Will definitely go back.
Thanksgiving represented another positive experience at the Bistro. The chef made good choices for the prix menu for this holiday. The lamb shank over risotto is among the most tender and well-seasoned that I ever had. My table mates also enjoyed their entries, and desserts. Très bon!
We went to Bistro Cacao for Thanksgiving Dinner. Our reservation was for 4:30 p.m. We arrived at 4:20 p.m. and were promptly seated after checking our coats. The restaurant has an extensive wine list and a fixed menu for the holiday which we had seen online. The restaurant called us to confirm our reservation made through open table. The ambience is very French with music playing in the background. We started with pumpkin soup with crabmeat, very flavorful as well a salad with sugared walnuts continued with turkey and beef wellington, both well presented with sweet potato and asparagus or green beans. Food was well prepared, well seasoned and succulent with a French flare. Dessert was chocolate mousse with Tawny Port-excellent! We also loved the semi private seating (red curtains) and comfy chairs. The evening ended much too soon but we will come back, probably for brunch or outdoor dining. Service was friendly yet professional.
This is the second time I’ve been here. The entire restaurant is relatively small and private. Its really good for couples to come here, especially for those who want to celebrate their anniversaries! The food is absolutely fantastic! Must try those French fries!
Bistro Cacao has a very romantic atmosphere and decorations. It has intimate tables secluded by curtains and tables with pillows. This was a business lunch but I had been there on a date before, as well. The lunch food is decent. The lunch options are not very French, not to say they are bad. Just burgers and chicken sandwiches mostly. The restaurant is good but it won’t become my favorite.
Had a wonderful experience at Bistro Cacao. Come for the excellent food and service, stay for the atmosphere. My date and I were situated in two cozy armchairs surrounded by red velvet curtains, and admired the rose petals intricately scattered about the table. It was a memorable and sentimental way to spend an anniversary together, and the food and service were both very impressive. And as far as a dinner of that caliber goes, I felt the prices were very reasonable, as I have certainly paid more for much less. Book without hesitation for a memorable affair.
Overall an excellent experience. The service was good, overall. The atmosphere was perfect for a date. The food was good, but not spectacular. The dishes could have done with a little more texture and could have used more vegetables. One of the Creme Brûlées was carbonized on top making it inedible, and quickly replaced, but the server seemed annoyed by the request. But apart from tiny glitch overall was a very enjoyable experience.
The best venison since Bistro Francais closed. Wonderful wine list. Hostess/Owner is warm & friendly. Atmosphere cozy & interesting. Music was appropriate (Edith Piaf, Moonlight Serenade, etc) & not too loud. After a day of museum hopping, will definitely return for more offerings on French menu. Food was beyond memorable as was the paired wine. Required a 'Compliments to the Chef' at this one!!
