Not our first visit, nor our last. A lovely Tuesday evening dinner in one of the coveted 2 person "alcoves" where we could have a quiet and private conversation. High quality ingredients (lamb and duck) contribute handsomely to the classically prepared entrees. We thought we'd be able to have cocktails outside when we originally booked but that will have to wait until the arrival of Spring if it ever comes.

Brunch was excellent. i had smoked salmon omlette and the rest of my family each had something different. We all enjoyed our food. The waitress could have been a bit more friendly.

We chose the chef tasting menu. The food was delicious and the wines were paired perfectly, however the wait between courses was extremely long.

This is a consistently great restaurant. Funky decor with superb food. And not overly noisy. Great place to meet old friends.

The food, ambience and table area was quite romantic. Rose petals were strewn across the table. It was a honeymoon dinner with a close friend and two cousins.
The staff were awesome and not too over bearing. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Very nice and intimate dining experience! Servers were extremely friendly and the perfect amount of attentive. Omelette could’ve used some salt but salt and pepper was supplied at the table. Brunch cocktails were very tasty and reasonably priced for DC!

Charming romantic old-French lovely setting. Even if the food had not been great (lamb and duck were wonderful though), we would have been charmed. A great special occasion setting, quiet, many tables have curtains that potentially could close, although all the diners that night left them open, probably to enjoy the lovely ambience created by the soft (red lampshade) lighting and red velvet curtains throughout this adorable restaurant. Service was good throughout, making for a memorable evening.

The wait staff was some of the best I've experienced in the DC area...very attentive, and easy to casually talk to. Atmosphere was striking at first, but then very enjoyable as we felt we were in an old world french restaurant.

This Charming restaurant has so much potential. Our party of 7 needed to wait for their table however there was no bartender for us to be able to have a cocktail in advance. When we were shown to art table it took 5 minutes to get the menu, and additional 5 minutes for someone to come to the table to tell us about the specials however no one asked if we wanted drinks. The food was quite good however.

Bistro Cacao is one of the few restaurants in the city where one can have an excellent French meal in a quiet setting. The tables are widely spaced and many soft surfaces absorb sound.

My husband and I had brunch at Bistro Cacao before heading to the Folger. My friend called it a "moody French restaurant in a row house" and I don't think I can improve on that description! old town Montreal-like atmosphere with tapestry chairs, curtained tables, small and cozy rooms artfully sectioned off for privacy. Can't say enough about the place - food was awesome, service great. Great date place, have fun!

Another excellent meal at Bistro Cacao. We met my cousin who was visiting DC and ate in the lovely Red Room. We shared frogs legs to start. It's always tasty. My cousin and I had the pistachio-encrusted sea bass, which was delicious. My husband had the rack of lamb. He enjoyed it but said it wasn't quite "lamby" enough. Bistro Cacao is one our go-to restaurants and we'll be back.
