Good tasty food. Enjoyable. Just like 18 months ago.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Food is just okay and there are a dozen places with better food at this price point in the area. Service was below par and the wine list is not very creative. Ambience is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
Incredible food and service. There was a table close by who was incessantly talking about politics, but that’s expected lol. They were a bit too close to us upstairs but it wasn’t much of an issue!
It was a wonderful place for a joyful, relaxed celebration.
Great food, great atmosphere
We sat for 25 minutes before any setvice.
When the food was served, we had no utensils.
We requested bread which never arrived prior to our check.
It is a cute place with decent food but very poor management.
Great place , Great service , Great Food and easy parking ! We ate outside under a covered patio .
We love Bistro Cacao every time we are in town. The food is spectacular and the staff is wonderful. The chef’s Chartreuse is always a welcome surprise with the best ingredients.
Always a go-to of mine. Great food and service and the ambiance is perfect for any occasion.
Great great meal and service!
The food is exquisite! Prepared to perfection. Seats for tables along wall super comfy. Definitely will go again
The food was well prepared. My lower rating is due to a personal disappointment. I have a food allergy. Called ahead of time to ask if they could accommodate. They said yes. Once there I was told most menu items would not work for us. .
The service and the Eggs Benedict were excellent!
Great food, large variety. Delicious cocktails. Service was excellent. Would definitely go back!
We were there for my husband’s birthday. This was not our first time there but because we have a baby and this was going to be our first restaurant dining as a whole family, we were a little anxious. On top of that It is still COVID-19 even though we had our vaccines our baby cannot be vaccinated and we did not know how our baby was going to do during the dining. Plus because I am breastfeeding and our baby is allergic to “dairy, eggs and soy” I have many diet restrictions. (We look like nightmare customers right hahaha). They were very responsive for my two calls and very attentive to our worries. They made sure we have safe corner as a family and mentioned several times that kitchen knows about the diet restrictions. We had a wonderful breakfast and great time!! Food has always been exceptional... delicious.. This time even though I had restrictions they still served me amazing options. Service was great and everyone was super friendly as always!!
Food and atmosphere are great, as always. Love their bigger patio in their new space. Only downside was they obviously are short-staffed - unfortunately too many restaurants are experiencing that right now.
Food was OK. We both got the steak and eggs from the brunch menu and the meat could have used more flavor, and the portions were on the small side. Overall, the brunch menu was a bit limited. Service was good. There was an obnoxious party seated behind us who were playing music and videos on their phones and clearly disturbing other patrons, but nothing was said to them. Eventually they settled down, but I think something should have been said to them sooner. I am not sure if I will be returning to Bistro Cacao for brunch, but might to try the dinner menu.
Always, delicious food, excellent service, lovely inside and out;).. a true treasure for Capitol Hill and for all of DC!!
Loved the food, drinks, and ambient noise level. Attentive servers.
I wanted to celebrate our 4-year anniversary someplace special, so I found this spot...LOVED IT!!! The service was swift, and the food was beautifully plated and absolutely delicious! The only surprising issue was the noise level. For such a quaint venue, it was hard to hear my companion seated just inches from me. But overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We went for an early Saturday brunch w/two friends. One said it was the best corn beef hash he’d ever tasted. Two of us were delighted with our trout amondine with string beans. The fourth person loved his French toast (brioche). Our iced teas in elegant glasses were refilled early and often.
We’ve ordered their three course meal delivered to our homes—once they forgot to include mashed potatoes with the equally delicious Beef Wellington but the BW is so rich, we didn’t mind.
In short, we’re besotted with Bistro Cacao
Service was exceptional. The duck was bland, but all the other food and drinks were great!
Wonderful spot for Mother’s Day brunch. The fixed price menu had plenty of choices, including for my vegetarian daughter. All dishes were delicious and executed beautifully. Service was perfect. Outdoor seating very comfortable. I’ve been before and I will certainly return.
Amazing as always. A "playground for my mouth." Love that the ambience is quiet and intimate enough for easy conversation without being dark and broody.
I had such high hopes for our Mothers' Day Brunch! The atmosphere here is great. But, the service was sadly not great - it took almost 30 minutes before we got our bread bowl. The food was OK, but not great and we were required to pay $50 a person for the fixed price Mothers Day brunch menu. There were also so few breakfast potatoes with our dishes that I wanted to order a whole extra plate of them, but decided not to because sadly each part of our meal took so long to arrive it wasn't worth it. I would love to come back but probably not for a fixed price lunch again.
always a great experience!
Very good meal. Service could have been faster, but it was mother's day brunch.
Great place. Service was spot on and food was delicious. I highly recommend the Pistachio Crusted Lamb rack or the Filet Mignon. For drinks, the Hazy Old Fashioned was delicious! We had a great time and would return.
I have been to Bistro Cacao a handful of times over the years but I will not return again. We had to wait over 40 minutes after our reservation to be seated outside. We were offered a table inside next to employee entrance, super loud and not comfortable at all. Even though there is a 2 hour table time limit, we were actually told by the hostess that the people at our table were finally asked to move inside after being there for over 3 hours. During this time we ordered half a carafe of white wine and waited patiently, and listened to a server tell the bartender that we had not asked her for water while were waiting. When we were finally seated at almost 9pm for our 8pm reservation, we were not offered an appetizer or to have the carafe of wine comped for our patience. Many of my family are in the service industry and we know times are tough, but hospitality is taking care of all your customers and definitely, when there is a stated 2 hour limit and people are waiting, not letting a table stay for over 3 hours. We could have been seated on time. I tipped 20% because it isn’t the servers fault. The food was excellent but I will not return.
Outside dining in comfort with very good food and attentive service. Our guests from N. Va. were impressed.
We went for brunch on Saturday. The outdoor set up was superb. We ordered appetizers and drinks, the cold tomato soup and the cacao salad were both very good. For entrees, I had the steak sandwich & my wife had the lobster omelet with potatoes. Both entrees were subpar. The lobster omelette dull, needed a sauce or something, the steak sandwich was ok but the blue havarti cheese overwhelmed the steak. The potatoes that came with the omelet looked & tasted like frozen potatoes out of a bag. With so many great places to eat around town, we won’t be returning here
I really enjoyed our dinner. The menu was good, the wine was delicious, and our server was very friendly and helpful. I also loved the decor.
You can never go wrong here and the staff is beyond friendly.
Lovely place for a romantic date night! Great food
Nice romantic French ambiance, wonderful food, superb wines, and fantastic service. I highly recommend, and we will be back, again. One of our go-to special occasion restaurants, but you don't have to wait for an occasion either.
My partner and I arrived for our 13th Anniversary dinner. From start to finish the experience was exceptional. The fact that we dined outside on a lovely spring evening certainly added. All courses were exceptionally good (I strongly recommend the vegetarian entree). Our waitress was wonderful. A lovely way to venture back in the world of fine dining as the sting of the pandemic begins at last to fade.
We had a wonderful experience at Bistro Cacao. We enjoyed it so much we returned the next day.
Amazing food and wonderful experience!
This was my first time visiting bistro cacao, and I will definitely be returning. Would recommend! We were celebrating a special occasion and each enjoyed a starting dish, main course, and dessert, along with a digestif and glass of Champagne. Each dish was delicious! And, the ambiance was cozy and romantic, particularly the room with red curtains where we ate.
Always love a neighborhood place and they do a fine job
