The food and the service were outstanding as always. We go to this restaurant every year for celebrations and special events, and we always have a great time here. The duck dish is amazing, and I'd highly recommend old fashioned drink here.
Our meal was excellent, as was the service. COVID precautions were being observed and enforced.
The environment was elegant and calm. My guest and I had a very nice time. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I will be eating here again
Excellent food and service. Very nice patio and very good reasonable wine
Perfect spot for any occasion! Romantic indoors and more casual seating outdoors.
Great service, great food, great ambiance! My friends and I definitely enjoyed our time here for Sunday brunch. Will be back 😀
We LOVED it. Everything was perfect from the outdoor seating, safe in Covid times, to the fire pits for warmth to the delicious food and wine to our lovely server, Laura. I will definitely be going back for the steak frites again!
Great outdoor seating during the pandemic and very friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff. The mushroom ravioli was delicious!
Hidden gem on the Hill. Don’t tell anyone.
This is an extremely consistent restaurant that focuses on service and food quality. Everything is excellent and wonderful ambience inside and outside the restaurant.
Lovely late lunch with friends on Election Day. Food, service and ambience were all delightful.
Such a great experience! Our waitress was wonderful! Some of the best food I’ve had in DC.
The food and service at Bistro Cacao were both awesome. These days, the most important thing for me is how safe I feel dining out and the environment at Bistro Cacao was excellent. The tables on the patio were nicely spaced, and every staff member I saw or interacted with was wearing a mask. The patio is also tented with a partial wall and nicely spaced heaters, so this will definitely stay on my list as the weather gets colder.
I loved the motif and and decor of the restaurant. The space made a night out without the kids that much more special. It was different classy and personal. The waitress was attentive and courteous and natural.
Food great bistro menu gazpacho to die for onion soup very good mushrooms ravioli very good rack of lamb ok lemon tart very good . Ambiance romantic relaxed
Laura M provided outstanding service..
They have created a great ambiance on the front terrace. Well appointed to help maintain some of the vibe of the interior of the restaurant. Food was great as always, highly recommended for a date night.
Really cute restaurant with great great food. Everything was delicious
Meal, service, and safety during this time are top notch.
Good lunch outside, well sheltered from the rain and able to enjoy authentic and delicious French food.
Great restaurant with super kind and attentive staff. The restaurant manager went out of her way to provide us with the best dining experience.
Menu was limited and we weren't excited by the options. They lacked seasoning but the edible flower garnish was pretty. Drinks and service were great though..
We had such a great time this past Saturday night! I’ve been to Bistro Cacao a couple times before, but every time I return it still blows my mind. We had Sam as our waiter - he was knowledgeable, polite, and the perfect complimentary piece to a wonderful dining experience. We got the hanger steak and filet mignon. Hanger steak was delicious with caramelized shallots and some fries on the side. The filet mignon was the best steak I’ve had in a long time. The meat was cooked so well that it melted in my mouth and tasted like butter. 10/10 experience every time I come here. Will be back many more times.
The perfect spot for that special occasion. Good food and atmosphere was especially perfect for our anniversary.
Absolutely lovely! Very sweet and knowledgeable on dishes and wine.
As long time diners at this establishment we were please to see the new location in action. COVID measures were strictly followed both among staff and patrons. This restaurant has new refreshing charm all whilst maintaining excellent features of modern French cuisine. The new charcuterie board was an excellent addition to the menu. Our waiter Ellie was delightful and made our experience all the more special and personal. She was very prompt and had an excellent wine suggestion. We hope to be back soon for the brunch!
This was my first time to have dinner at Bistro Cacao, and the food was excellent. The seating feels so intimate. Overall it was a great experience and our server was very accommodating as well. I'll be back!
We had a lovely brunch sitting on the front patio. Our party had the Norwegian eggs, Eggs Benedict, Hamburger, escargots and onion soup and would recommend all. My Kir Royal was also delicious. The server and manager were very attentive. The indoor seating was very spread out; I would feel comfortable returning and doing indoor dining.
My colleague and I ate dinner here after paying our respects to RBG. We each had a cocktail, wine, shared a small plate, each ordered the rack of lamb and ordered two desserts to share. It was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed every bite and sip!
It was lovely on the patio, but service was slow with additional water, ice tea, and coffee very slow to come to the table.
It would be nice if Bistro changed their policy as most other restaurants are now doing for individual guests to get their own checks if requested. This would also help out the wait staff who won't have to do what we tell him or her needs to be done to split the bill and would save time for both guest and wait staff. A large group is different, however.
Just lovely. Welcoming. Great food. Nice wine selection. Highly recommend.
This was our second time visit. the first time was 2016 service was excellent the food was delicious. We came for my wife's birthday, I've ordered the house special stake it was hard to chew and no flavor at all. The service was poor, the server probably think we don't tip him so he really didn't care. We will never go back again.
Laura was an excellent server, very friendly, and excellent advice. Very much looking forward to my next meal there.
Fantastic food and service. Would gladly revisit and highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun night out.
Attended Sunday brunch. It was great to dine on the outside (socially distanced) with great food and company. Looking forward to having the outdoor dinner experience.
We had high hopes for this place but were very disappointed by a couple key factors. A deadly combo of overpriced & under flavored food will keep us from future dining or recommending.
Starting with, sadly, the complimentary bread - it was stiff, nearly stale, and partnered with some ice cold butter that made it impossible to enjoy. It’s a French place.. c’mon! The escargot was as you’d expect - no complaints. However, the entrees.. bland to say the least. The filet was well cooked, but paired with - what I can best described as - brown gravy from a powder packet & frozen TV dinner mash potatoes with next to zero seasoning. My lady’s salmon had to of been just that.. cooked salmon.. no seasoning, no sauce, no marinade.
Fortunately, we had mentioned it was our anniversary and they finished up our evening with a complimentary crème brûlée - which was good.
Based on the reviews, we were excited for this experience.. but we walked out with much left to be desired.
Great place, great food.
Been twice since COVID.
Outdoor seating is the best
This was our second time and it was absolutely wonderful. The plating was excellent and the service was amazing. We had a great time celebrating our anniversary here.
The food was excellent, the service was good, the outdoor dining is beautiful, and the social distancing procedures made me feel very safe. Bring a QR-enabled phone to access the menu.
