I loved this restaurant. I had the shrimp with mushroom ravioli and my husband had the rack of lamb. We both enjoyed our meals, my husband wanted a second serving, not a lot of lamb on his plate really but he said they were delicious. We had the tarte aux pommes for dessert and we loved it!! Worth the 20 minute wait for sure. I will definitely be back.

Absolutely PHENOMENAL. Over the top service, best tasting food we’ve ever had, and just overall a wonderful romantic ambiance that made us feel relaxed and had time to enjoy together. We’ve been here three times now and cannot wait to come back again. It gets better every time! Thank you so much to our exceptional waiter, and thank you to the chefs for making our special date night so memorable.

Amazing customer service. They allowed me to come a few minutes before my Galentine's Day dinner to set up my goody-bags, and checked in on us to ensure all was running smoothly. Funny sommelier - provided awesome recommendations.

Perfect for intimate birthday. Solid French cuisine. Convenient Demi carafes allowed me a merlot and her a Sauvignon blanc. Sweet treat on the house sealed the deal.

We went for a special birthday celebration for my wife. She loves bouillabaisse and was delighted by the offering from Bistro Cacao. Our server recommended a wonderful Chardonnay that paired well with my wife's food and my snapper (the fish special for that evening.). The restaurant surprised her with a profiteroles with Happy Birthday written in chocolate around the plate. A very lovely evening.

This was the perfect place for my boyfriend and I to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. The restaurant is cozy and romantic and the food is amazing. The staff took great care of us and the food was delicious. This place has become our "special occasion" spot that we look forward to going to. No matter how long it's been since we've been to Bistro Cacao, the service and food are always consistently topnotch.

Four of us dine. Two had the recommend lamb chops, one the quail, and one the special (fish, shrimp, and scallops). To start, two had beet salad and two had onion soup. Everything was special: The best onion soup I've had; great salad choice (though not really big enough to split); and, of course, great sauce on the lamb chops and quail. It is a high-end French restaurant, of course. They have a large, very interesting menu (check it out) so we're anxious to go back and try something else.
We were first seated in a busy room in the restaurant, but we asked to be re-seated and they found a nice, quiet room with 3 tables.
The waiter was just perfect - there when we needed him; not when we didn't. The Maitre D' helped with our dinner selections and was very friendly and engaging.
Parking is on the street or a few blocks away, so plan ahead.

A wonderful romantic spot with delicious food and an impressive wine list. The restaurant is a converted townhome with eclectic decor, and has the feel of eating in someone's rather luxurious home. Our dining room featured cozy two-seat tables framed by drapes, which felt very intimate. I would recommend Bistro Cacao for dates and anniversaries.

Bistro Cacao is truly a memorable dining experience in a great Old World setting that hits on all marks. The food is delicious, service outstanding and you are not competing with your neighbor to be heard with the usual open vacuous spaces of modern restaurants. Really is a most wonderful dining experience.

I decided on Bistro Caco for my husband's birthday after my going back and forth on a few choices. It was definitely a great choice. The restaurant was very cozy and romantic. Not too crowded, and the seating arrangement almost made us feel secluded in a good way. The food was fantastic. The lobster appetizer was delicious as were the mahi mahi and halibut entrees and a perfectly flaky apple tart. My only complaint was that I had not realized at the time that Restaurant week was extended and was not also offered the restaurant week menu. All said, a wonderful experience. Will definitely be back.

It was a really cute place for date night. Seated and served promptly. The waiter was attentive and seemed knowledgable about the menu and was able to make suggestions. I had the filet mignon which was tender, but a little too much peppercorn for my liking in the sauce. I had the creme brulee for dessert. Chocolate and du jour was delicious, the vanilla was also tasty but a little dry in texture. Overall, would recommend for a nice dinner out on the town!

Great dining experience. Service was really great, warm and professional but also friendly. Parts of meal were exceptional, off the charts; duck sauce, chocolate mousse, goat cheese. Most everything else was very good. Had a few issues with some of the dishes; small veggie portions, only one lukewarm roll, (only hot roll can melt butter) black pepper sauce with steak dish was a little too much pepper for wife's taste although steak was outstanding. Grand Marnier was too "alcoholy" rather than smooth and tasteful. The sauterne was not delightful as it can be, but still good. I really liked the ambiance, but some of the furniture was a little worn (minor issue). Great location for a restaurant.

Very poor service accommodating a food allergy. Entree came out contaminated and the chef merely wiped off the sauce and gave the same dish back to us instead of bringing out a new dish. Got sick after taking a bite of the wipes off entree. Would not recommend for people with food allergies.

I took my boyfriend for his birthday to Bistro Cacao during restaurant week, and we were both floored at the quality of service and food we received. The hostess and manager were both very accommodating and provided us with a wonderful secluded table with armchairs and velvet drapings. Our server was very experienced and offered an excellent wine pairing for our meal. I ordered the burrata and my date ordered the spicy shrimp as an appetizer. Both appetizers were incredible, but the sauce for the spicy shrimp especially stood out. The complex layers of flavor in the sauce is a testament to culinary craftsmanship of the chefs at Restaurant Bistro Cacao. For the main course, we both ordered the duck which did not disappoint. The setting was intimate and charming and perfect for a romantic date. We will absolutely come back. Restaurant Bistro Cacao is a true gem of D.C.

Excellent fair and service. Waitress was especially accommodating to our kids even though not too kid appropriate (elegant/casual/business casual atmosphere). We dined during Brunch on Saturday so the crowd was more relaxed than whatI would think a typically weekday would had been. My 6yr old daughter even felt the need to hug the waitress twice lol. Recommend the salmon omelette and all desert options.
