The restaurant is beautiful. A bit of a drive from BEthesda. We waited 30 minutes for our reservation but otherwise we enjoyed the experience
Took my mom for her 85th, and literally the best decision I’ve ever made. Superb food, fabulous service, gorgeous atmosphere and the entire staff made her feel special. So grateful.
One of the best restaurants in DC! Fantastic for great intimate conversations surrounded by an incredible atmosphere.
What a great place for a date night! Their dining room with curtains made for the perfect setting for a conversation. I highly recommend the Mushroom Risotto. Our server, Johnnie was attentive and made excellent recommendations on pairings. I would recommend Bistro Cacao to anyone looking for a quiet date night.
The food and service were amazing. The decor is probably what they are going for but not necessarily comfortable for me. But let’s be honest, I was there for the food and it was delicious.
I work at a ski resort so the prices were quite reasonable in comparison. If it were in my hometown I’d go there as much as I could.
Great food (the menu specials were terrific), great wine choices and the desserts were super.
It's hard to express in words what a terrific experience we had at this restaurant. We picked it randomly as it was close to the train station. This is a time when a random choice proved to be an excellent one. The facade is a bit odd, but behind it is a well run establishment with excellent cuisine. And a terrific environment. The service was excellent. As was the food. Escargot, the breads, the jams were an excellent start. We had the Eggs Norwegian and Steak and Eggs. Again, perfection. We finished everything and wished we had room for dessert. I travel frequently to DC, and am now putting this down as a "must visit".
Great DC date night. Romantic but not too stuffy either
Overall, dinner at Bistro Cacao was a very pleasant experience.
Just a lovely place.
The ambiance is great very warm and ornote.
Food quality and presentation are excellent.
The food execution could be better.
Food and ambiance were spectacular. But was really turned down with the subpar service. The place was short staffed and waiter was gone for very long periods without checking on us. I was celebrating with my wife a special occasion. Don’t think will be coming back although the food was good and I liked the french music too.
At the last minute we opted for the chef’s tasting and it was a very good call. We also added the wine pairing which was also a great call. Our server, Johnny was extremely knowledgeable as he guided us through our dining experience. The ambiance was perfect well. I highly recommend the chef’s tasting experience.
The decor is beautiful. This place was ranked as one of the most romantic restaurants in DC, and I could see why.
Oh my ..... where to begin ..... wonder-full staff, luscious menu, sublime decor ..... and, oh yes, the menu is exquisite.
Sitting on the outdoor patio, for lunch, is a hot experience. There is overhead shade but the canvas is white and is thin; doesn't do much to block the sun. Service was also a bit slow. I have been to Bistro Caco before, dining on the outdoor patio. That was for dinner, however, with the sun down. Lunch was a different experience.
Always a pleasure dining here. The ambiance and food are excellent!!
Service and food were impeccable. Our server was attentive to our needs. The hostess came to our table to check on us. Ambiance was quiet and romantic.
Best food,best service,nice interior,very friendly stuff.
Perhaps it was going to Le Diplomate two nights before, but this place was just okay (if not just eh). Also, found the portions to be a tad small. What the food lacked, the restaurant made up for in spirit and ambiance though.
The restaurant is quite large, but it's divided into small size dining rooms. The decor is lovely; real linens, draperies, chandeliers. This is the way dining out used to be. The service was very good, not intrusive but attentive. The food was well-prepared and yummy. We weren't rushed at all; plates weren't cleared as soon as our forks stopped moving. Much appreciated. It was just a beautiful evening at Bistro Cacao and my first time there, but not my last.
The cucumber soup was out of this world, as was the bronzino and the duck. Wait staff were very professional and appropriately friendly. You could actually carry on a conversation in their dining room!!
Always exceptional!!! Lovely setting, lovely menu!!
I loved this place and will be returning. I have already recommended this to others.
It was a great date night experience.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Food, decor, service, ambiance... all exceptional. They made our evening a very special one. Highly recommend for romantic and special occasions.
Bistro Cacao is our favorite place in DC for a quiet dinner and a special night out. Highly recommended. The food and service are top notch.
Food selection is very poor. At 5:30 pm, they “ran out of fish entries”. Service is medium. Will not recommend.
Excellent food. We dined on the outdoor patio and it was very nice.
We came for a good dining experience; Bistro Cacao met and exceeded our expectations. The table was curtained off and semi-private. The cocktails were excellent. The wine list was extensive and varied. The service was attentive. The food was best of all. Nice.
Great service and food. Excellent!
Brillian choices on the menu and such an intimate setting. Really enjoyed it!
It was good, but took awhile to get someone to get our drinks and orders. It was about a 2 hour lunch. Great food though and the server was very polite.
Very nice. Accommodated my gluten allergy wit no fuss. Nice wine as well.
Everything was lovely. Service excellent. Ambiance romantically. Nice touch with dessert on a plate with icing spelling “Happy Anniversary.”
As always, we had a pleasant meal at Bistro Cacao, seated in an almost private dining alcove. I had excellent barramundi, one of the evening's specials, and my husband had a steak. The service is friendly and quick, and we greatly enjoy how quiet the dining room is. We had a drink at their cute bar before going to the table, and had a nice chat with the bartender and an intern here for her DC semester, assisting him. The outside tables were also full of diners, as it was the first cool evening in DC in months.
We have dined here several times, and is consistently very good. It is located in two adjoining Victorian row houses in a beautiful neighborhood near the Capitol and Union Station. The inside space has a warm, romantic ambience, and the low noise level makes conversation easy. They also have one of the best outdoor dining rooms in town. Service is good, and the food is excellent, as are the cocktails. We also appreciate that their Restaurant Week menus include some of their best dishes.
Fantastic almost all around. We will be back. We came early and few to no other tables made our waiter check on us perhaps just a couple too many times every 7 minutes but we liked him a lot and were ok with it. Just interrupted a couple bites a moments of conversation. We weren’t in a hurry at all but felt subconscious pressure due to his perfect timelines at all times when seeing if we were done with a course of food. Bottom line though - we will be back! Don’t worry too much about too much of a good thing (good service is better than no service!!)
Excellent food, excellent ambiance for a date night. Great value during Restaurant Week. Creme brulee trio and roast duck were my favorites.
