Wonderful food, excellent service. If I'm in DC for business and want a special dinner, I'm never disappointed at Bistro Bis. The octopus appetizer was phenomenal as was the trout, accompanied by a great Sancerre. A memorable evening.
Our waiter went above and beyond to find us the perfect wine. Lovely mellow ambience in front room. Would recommend sitting there.
Superb food. Great wine menu.
The restaurant came highly recommend so we decided to see for ourselves and we're very dissatisfied. The service was not good but was not the waiters fault as we found out the other waiter didn't show up so he was in the weeds from the start. I have eaten at some of the finest french restaurants all over the country and halfway around the world and one ranks as one of the worst french restaurants I have ever eaten at. I don't know what was the problem but that was not french cooking. I've had better food at Applebee's so if you really know what french food taste like go somewhere else.
The service was horrible. It took our waiter 45 minutes to take our order and only after I flagged him down. The bottle of wine I ordered didn’t come to our table until I asked where it was - this was after we had already finished our appetizers. When it arrived, it was room temperature (white wine)! The last glass of the bottle was finally chilled. Our waiter never came to our table to check on us. We were always flagging down the busboy. The food was good, but not worth the horrible service.
great, comfortable Sat date night
serving team is spot on
food was great as advertised- try the duck
wonderful food with inventive twists on traditional favorites, good size portions, excellent service
Bistro Bis has always been a decent lunch venue for business lunches. I have dined twice in the last month and both times the service has been slow and unfortunately, medium rare came as medium well. Still a good spot, but next time I will order an item that doesn't require a temperature.
Our server Olga was a pleasure and fun. We had a really enjoyable evening. The food was very good as well.
Fun menu, efficient service without any sense of rush, close to union station
Great food, great service. Recommend dressing up otherwise you’ll feel uncomfortable when the majority are dressed up.
Salle sympathique, bons vins, très bon repas, très bon service. Un vrai plaisir après une bonne journée de marche à Washington DC !
We had the steak tartare appetizer with handmade potato chips. It's centered over a quail's egg and it's all delicious. My partner had the steak frittes and I had the mushroom pasta, which was wide tagliattelli with a butter and cheese sauce. Both dishes were very good. We finished off by sharing a apple tart -- what a special dessert.
When I worked on the Hill I used to dine there regularly along with a lot of people, members and staff, from the Congress. (One time a friend and I got into a friendly conversation with Senator Kennedy and his son Patrick.) The food, service, and ambience were always above par.
It's been some time since a return visit but our dining experience of a few days ago was everything I remembered this restaurant to be. The cocktails were great, particularly the house version of the Dark and Stormy. Three of us had trout for a main course -- great as I remember. I started with steak tartare which is not a usual on menus. Again, great as I remember.
It was early and quiet and a wonderful dining experience, again.
One of the best choices for a power lunch in the general vicinity of Union Station and the Capitol.
Spoil ourselves for a long weekend of culture in New York. Celebrating life while undergoing chemo.
We've dined here for several years. It's our favorite District restaurant.
Staff were very helpful and the food was terrific! Definitely a hidden gem in Capitol Hill!
delicious food, amazing service, nice and very clean
Wonderful everything!!! Wait staff was superb!! Meal selections amazing!! Overall great!
Bistro Bis - I have been eating there (never alone) for the past 20 years, always with important friends I want to impress and they have never failed to praise the ambiance, the service and mostly the food. Bistro Bis has kept its superior image never once dropping a rung on the ladder - there is no substitute.
This is a lovely restaurant inside the The George Hotel near Capitol Hill. We had drinks in the bar while we waited for the dining room to open. Pricey wine list but generous pours. Excellent waiter who didn’t bat an eye when we asked to plug in a dying cell phone behind the bar. The restaurant is larger than you’d think -we had a huge booth - very comfortable. The wait staff was very good - attentive and personable. It’s the food where things started to go wrong - French onion soup was just so-so - good amount cheese but the onion broth was dull and light on flavor. The steak frites come with a huge sirloin but it was overcooked (asked for med rare got medium) - we were pressed for time so I didn’t send it back even though it was almost flavorless and a little tough. However, their table bread was fresh, soft and delicious and our desert plate (petite fours) was well presented with 9 different treats - all very good. I think if I had paid about 20% less for this dinner I would have been less disappointed but $100.00 (with tip) for steak frites, soup, one glass of wine was hard to take.
This restaurant was drop dead delicious. Went after the MFOL rally, so tired and hungry. Best trout I ever had and the drinks were superb. Very nice and engaging waiter.
We had a group of 6 for brunch as a pre-march gathering point. We read the menu in advance and thought the pricing was fair for the area. The big draw was the valet parking option so we could dine and then just walk several blocks to the march instead of schlepping on the metro and fighting the crowds.
We arrived on time and the able wasn't ready - not really a big deal but were surprised since I had made a reservation. We were seated and the waiter came promptly. He took beverage orders and then meal orders. The beverages came fairly soon but the waiter was delayed in taking our orders and then the orders seemed to take forever. Beverage refills were late in the game too.
The overall experience was ok, I wouldn't back there unless I had a specific reason to be in the neighborhood.
Chatted with guests on both sides as we were in town for March For Our Lives. GREAT coffee!!! Got the yogurt bowl, presentation was beautiful. I just needed more crunch. Just personal preference. Husband enjoyed eggs Benedict.
This is my favorite place to dine - lunch or dinner. The food and service is excellent and I have never been disappointed.
We arrived early for our reservation and were sitted immediately. The first thing we noticed was the dirty table cloth that had not been changed since the previous guest. They just placed a paper topper over it. Decided not to say anything about it. And then to our further disappointment they were out of the Duck Confit, at 1:00 PM when they had just opened at 11:30, which we all had wanted. The meal I ordered instead, Tarte Forestiere and Salade Lyonnaise, was very good but my dining partners didn’t have the same results. They both had the Tuna Salad Nicoise. The tuna tasted slightly old and there was no excitement about the salad. We did have a wonderful dessert and enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant.
great pre theater dinner, chosen by chance and it really worked
Disappointed when informed rest. did not acknowledge with Open Table that I honored reservation.
I was not seated at table as requested in reservation.
Waitress was pushy to take order, and noticeably slow serving food.
Hopefully, this was an isolated never to reoccur experience.
Location was perfect, service outstanding and happy we went there.
We always happy with meals at Bistro Bis. The food was very good - but the wine list is rather disappointing - not much on offer and what was wasn't worth the price. That was our only complaint.
Info: If you have motor issues you can take the elevator inside the hotel to access the second (and much quiet) floor of this restaurant. Otherwise you have to walk up a rather steep flight of stairs to access the second floor from inside the restaurant.
A business dinner. Was highly recommended. Met all expectations!
It's always difficult to choose from the dinner menu. Bistro Biz has such a great variety of appetizing looking appetizers and mains, and nearly every time they are fabulous. I love this place.
The food was so so and overpriced. My lamb shank was dry. Not nearly as tasty as any good DC area restaurant. Small portions. But nicely presented.
The servics was great. The wine list was good and the food was just what I wanted.
Nice dining spot with good service and a very good menu. There steak frites and sautéed mushrooms work well together and with their Irish red beer.
Everything was fantastic. We had the escargot appetizer, the mushroom tagliatelle and sea bass entrees for dinner. I would definitely go back and recommend the restaurant.
The food is great. The service is attentive and helpful and quick. The only reason I don't give it five stars myself is that it's very loud and it's pricey. If you don't mind these traits, then take this as a five-star recommendation and go.
Great service, pleasant ambiance, good for conversation and relaxed enjoyment. Food was excellent and well presented. Overall, highly recommend.
