We enjoyed everything on the menu. Very pleasant experience for V DAY.
This place is all about the kitchen. The food is wonderful. But the place itself has little ambiance, and the waitress was rather cold and on automatic.
A great spot on Capitol Hill for lunch or an after work dinner. Consistently great service. The lunch staff is awesome. The decor is starting to look a little dated, but the food is always quality. Definitely a place to “see and be seen”.
Apologies but I don’t have the server’s name. He was excellent and provided op notch suggestions. The tuna special was indeed very special. Some of the best i have ever had. Recommended cauliflower was equally delicious. Topped off with their chocolate tart. Perfect evening.
Food and atmosphere were good. Lots of capitol hill suits at lunch.
Wonderful. Came with a friend for her 60th. Simply the best.
Great place for a business lunch. Food is top notch and the service is impeccable. It can get a little noisy so just be aware. Overall -- recommend whole heartedly
pleasant brunch; good location near Union Station; a little pricey for what it is
Not sure what happened- seems like we may have been seated in the bar, not the actual restaurant. So our experience we had was not like the pictures or write up. Booth had a rip, table covered with butcher block, uneven temperature- hot air from heater vent/draft from door- not the romantic dinner anticipated. Decided on wine and appetizer. Wine was served at wrong temp- tepid, borderline warm and the appetizer was just ok. Service was good. Might go back for second chance, but too many restaurants to try.
The service was excellent and the ambience is comfortable. The scallops were delicious as was the beef Bourguignon, though one piece was far too fatty.
Got terribly sick from what I assume was undercooked fish & seafood.
In a very nice setting, this place provides the good quality French food. Loved the onion soup, not salty, full of onion sweetness and chess. Loved the beef tartar, and risotto.
We did the restaurant week dinner menu and the food was great. The wine per glass was pricey so I only had one glass. The service was good. What stood out as a negative about the restaurant was the decor-- given the great quality of the food and it being a French restaurant there is alot of potential to make a beautiful dining experience. The restaurant needs more vibrant dark colors, maybe paint some of the walls and wood panels different colors. Maybe velvet chair back of the booths and ad some more painting/art to the walls... just make the restaurant more French and romantic looking. The bar area looked better but the dining room needs work. Also I would feel better paying more for a glass of wine if the restaurant looked classy and cool. This is an odd review I know--I just get bugged when I see unused potential.
Great food! Our waiter was nice, but at times forgot to clear items off of the table and it took some time for our second course to come.
We enjoyed an excellent Restaurant Week meal. I had the Potage St. Germain and steak frites. Both were excellent. Service was attentive and helpful.
The food was excellent, it was my 1st time there. Stopped in because of restaurant week. We will dine here again and again.
AMAZING! We were a larger party and service was attentive without being overbearing. Food was the absolute star. Will definitely return.
Great food, but we keep coming back for our waiter, Steve. He is incredible and always makes the dining experience special.
Lunch was great, especially with the price tag - $22 during the RW.
Went for Lunch during DC Restaurant week. We had salad Lyonnaise, onion soup, salmon, Beef Bourguignon, and creme brûlée. Everything was delicious and a bargain @ $22 for a 3 course prix fixe meal.
Last night in DC and decided to eat in the hotel. Never realized how good this gem is. I’ve had room service before that was tasty, but Bis was much better than expected
Great experience overall. Wonderful food, great service, and no skimping for restaurant week
The location is very convenient to Union Station. The ambiance is clean and modern. The service in the bar area is not good. The one person working Sunday was very slow. It took 15 minutes waiting at the bar before she asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I saw a couple sit at the bar for 20 minutes and then leave because no one even greeted them. The food served for Restaurant Week was very good and a good value. I would try Bistro Bis again on a weekend for dinner.
Bistro Bis is one of my favorites. I've been there many times and have never had a sub par meal. It's an elegant restaurant, and the food is fabulous and beautifully presented.
My only complaints would be that the waiter seemed to be rushing (he appeared to have too many tables to serve) and that my husband and I each had a glass of red wine and were horrified that they were $20 apiece.
I thought the service was great and the atmosphere appealing. I was a little disappointed in the French Onion soup as I thought it was a little too salty. Also the bread was room temperature. I like the beef bourguignon and the deserts were enjoyable too. We went there for restaurant week and was a little disappointed with the extra charges on the meals. Didn't think they were warranted. Might go back for a 2nd try some other dishes.
(Restautant Week 2019 brunch) The onion soup is extremely salty and it looks fancy but tastes bad.
The main courses, steak and egg, muffin sandwich are not bad. The deserts, #3 and #4 on the menu are pretty good (see photos).
Really excellent food well presented and great restaurant week menu. Attentive server. Pretty location.
We were the first to arrive for the lunch service and took over an hour to be served the main course. Service was very slow but food was great.
Seated at the bar (probably 'cause I was a single), served by someone from the main dining room. Restaurant Week menu was a good value. Reasonable wine prices. Seemed more noise than previous visits.
Our waiter worked his tail off but they were clearly understaffed and unprepared for restaurant week.
Went here for restaurant week for dinner.
I had the andive salad as appetizer which was divine, the steak frite which was incredibly disappointing. I expected so much more from the steak. I finished with the opera cake which I found mediocre but my friend who also had it really enjoyed it.
The dishes that the 2 other people I was with selected were superbe. The escargot, salmon cru, duck confit ( amazing!!!!) chicken breast were a hit. The crème brûlée was excellent.
But I can’t get over how bad the steak was! Especially since there was an 8$ surcharge!
This is not a place for a quick lunch, and I generally like the fact that the servers are not bugging you and making you feel like they want to "turn the table." Even so, the service was exceptionally slow the last two visits. I don't think it was the server's fault. She was hustling every minute, but she was working too many tables. That said, the food was excellent, the "vibe" really great, and I continue to recommend.
I dine here quite often, and I’ve never been disappointed. However, Thursday night’s experience was a bit lacking - no salmon, no burgers!! Perhaps the DC Restaurant Week put a strain on product availability. Otherwise there was no other explanation given.
Great! We love the service and the food and the wine. A lovely ambience. Nick and Joan.
Excellent all around.
We dined at Bistro Bis during restaurant week with another couple. We were seated by the fireplace which was delightful. We all had meals we throughly enjoyed. We had trout, pork chops and the duck- all delicious! It was a great pick for us!!!
Bistro Bis has consistently been the best Restaurant Week value in DC. Many choices, few upcharges.
The food was excellent as always. I went with my old standbys Beet Salad and Trout, and I had the Opera Cake for dessert--a must try. The service was slightly off this time--inattentive and the wrong drink order at first. But that didn't detract from the excellent meal.
Great as always go to spot
Front room is chilly.
Second time at the restaurant. Both were on New Year's eve. The meal was exceptional on both occasions. The service was attentive but not obtrusive.
