The food was delicious. I can't say anything bad about our whole experience.
Good food, GREAT service! Felix and staff are very attentive!
The portion size was small, even for lunch, and the taste was forgettable.
Wonderful meal! The ambiance was perfect and food beyond delicious!
We needed a place for a business lunch, convenient to Union Station. Bistro Bis was perfect.
We love having lunch @ Bistro Bis. The energy, service, wine & cuisine are always A+. We dined on the chicken salad, burger & we always finish w/their heavenly apple tart w/espresso. Going to Bistro for lunch is always a real treat.
I’ve sat at the bar before and had spectacular service, a classy charcuterie plate and other apps. Dinner two nights ago was disappointing: a lobster bisque, lacking depth and a bland quenelle de poisson. The trout and it’s sauce with capers tasted as if out of an assembly line. My guest who had the lamb shank thought it wonderful. A pleasant but too busy server, a dining room way too loud and a pretty caramel chocolate dessert stablizized with way too much gelatin. It would hold up well on a business class flight to Europe on a US carrier. Still, I’d return to the bar, though not to the dining room.
We asked for a quiet table, and were graciously accommodated. Cocktail was excellent. Food was superb. Waiter was rather dour, but very efficient. All in all, everyone in my party had a great meal. We will definitely come back when we are in DC again, which I hope is soon.
Never fails to deliver.
Superb, personalized service.
Very nice menu - with food prepared exactly as you ordered it and to perfection.
We went to Bistro Bis on a Sunday evening at 5:30pm. It was very quiet. We enjoyed the service and the food. Recommend this restaurant
The food was fantastic. The waiter was the bartender, so service was a little slow...but still above average
We chose this restaurant because we felt like French food and this one had tables available (Saturday early evening). It tuns out that it mostly gets busy during the day and during the week while congress is in session so it was very quiet.
The menu was filled with most French staples. We ordered onion soup and escargot fricassée which were served promptly and tasty fine. Our main courses were Chicken confit, which also tasted good, and trout. The potatoes on the dish were hard and when I started eating the thickest of the 2 trout filets, it was clearly row. The waiter took that half, took it back to the kitchen and returned with it a few minutes later... my potatoes were still under-cooked, there was no sauce to eat with the second half of my fish... no apologies and we were charged full price. We will not return.
My extended family ranging in age from 30+ to 80+ had a lovely meal. Our waiter was spectacular in every regard even when something was not quite right. The white wine we ordered was not available so he suggested another at a comparable price point, but when we tasted it, it was too sweet. With great grace he found us a perfect substitute and made everyone feel comfortable with our request to change. Will definitely return!
Outstanding host, excellent food, acceptable service
The food was excellent. There were four of us dining and we each ordered something different. Each entrée was beautifully presented and delicious. Our server, Alexander, did an outstanding job. He was congenial and ensured we had everything we needed. It was a great experience which we were remembering fondly the morning after our lunch.
Excellent dining experience
Service was outstanding
Always fun. Soft shell crab sandwich was pretty good.
Outstanding, you can actual have a conversation without screaming .
Amazing food and desserts but the dining room can get crowded.
Spectacular evening. Our server, hector was fantastic, making great menu recommendations and Mac Buben is a fabulous chef. Highly recommend Bistro Bis!
Great food. Great service. Perfect location and ambiance. Love it every time I go!
Three for dinner at 5:30 on a Wednesday, my wife and I joined by an out of town friend who had a layover at nearby Union Station. Professionals, white, average age around 60.
Attractive setting. Service was fine except our young Estonian waitress was flumoxed in serving us hot tap water rather than room temperature water (supposedly a French restaurant, so room temperature water should not be a problem). She said that’s how it comes out of the tap. Indeed.
Regarding food, I can comment only on my orders. Outstanding steak tartare, probably the best of more than a dozen versions over the years. Haddock special was meh. Nothing wrong with preparation, it could have used a complementary sauce.
Mixed drinks as cocktails were good. I was unable to find a suitable white for the haddock. My wife had a glass of the one riesling, which might have been the best choice. Surprisingly, whisky is shown only on the dessert menu. The scotch lovers I know will often have it as an aperitif.
Arriving at opening, it was quiet until shortly before leaving at 8, at which point the restaurant was crowded and noisy. Yes, you do see famous people, in our case a regrettable senator.
At $400 the total with tip was no bargain, but was about what I expected.
Very professional service, great food although hard for a vegetarian, wonderfully quiet!
Very appealing atmosphere. Food was great. Good variety of menu choices. Attentive and knowledgeable staff
Terrific experience. The food was top-notch, service was friendly and attentive. The Beef Bourguignon was tender and cooked to perfection. Nice, quiet atmosphere where we could hear ourselves talk without shouting. We’ll return!
Excellent and discreet French focused restaurant with exquisite service, calm and welcome atmosphere. From the friendly hostess to the elegant waitress and the owner stopping by our table, we had a perfect evening.
Very expensive, even for DC.
Wonderful meal, great food and great service
Great lunch service. Love the beet salad. It was the standout. The steak frites and duck confit were good.
Great little place near the Capitol with super food and great service.
Excellent service and food. Asked for corner table and got one. We had the trout and the Niçoise salad. Supurb
The salmon and the chicken Basquaise were both superb. Alexander provided outstanding service, and even though the restaurant was quite busy, he was very patient while we decided on what to order
monte cristo omelet with American cheese does not work. Hear had been turned off overnight and it was cold. Service was friendly and accommodating.
Nice and classy restaurant
Slow, bad service
Service was excellent as always. Best service in DC!
always good food and service.
Egg White Fratata Was Delicious.
Good based on location
Not great ambiance
Bistro Bis has never let us down for either food or service. THis meal was no exception. Our server was polite and attentive. Smoothly executed. I had the always reliable steak frites, our friend had the tuna salad and my spouse had the beef bourgignon . All delicious. We topped it with some ice cream and sorbets. Fabulous ice cream. We were seated on the lower level near the kitchen. It’s a bit noisier there and you can smell the kitchen. It didn’t bother us, but if it might affect your experience, ask for a booth or table on the upper level.
Excellent except for noise level and stingy drinks. My guest's dry martini "up" was excellent..my scotch on the rocks was barely two sips.
