Food was middle of the road, as the hen was dry and required a steak knife to cut. What made the experience uniquely unpleasant was the manager. He was extremely unhelpful, unaccommodating, and not knowledgeable about French wine, which he freely acknowledged. Rather than recommend a reasonable replacement wine for the one we selected which was understandably gone, he offered only a bottle that cost more than twice the price, and when told no, left it for us to find a suitable replacement. After that experience, it is unclear what function he serves.
Great as always! Thanks to the Bistro Bis staff for always hitting it out of the park.
From the time we walked in the door, looking like the tourists that we are, we were welcomed and made to feel very special as we were also celebrating three birthdays. The food was phenomenal as was the service! It was the perfect last night in D. C. Meal! I would most definitely return here to dine!
The food was spectacular, and the chef was willing to honor our non-menu requests.
The seating was comfortable and perfect for sharing food and conversation.
Finally, the service was great and very accommodating.
Food was outstanding. Ambience was beautiful. Service was spotty and inconsistent. Long stretches with no attention. It appeared that waiter was trying to not be intrusive on conversation but erred on the side of caution. We would have welcomed his attention at key intervals. Did not check on meals after plates served as most waiters do.
good location, accessible for differently abled people, wine list could be refreshed as could appetizers.
main courses were excellent. waitstaff was excellent. I will come back soon and recommend. very nice experience.
Great food, service. Nice place to meet friends coming by train to Union Station
Food was mediocre not nearly worth the price. The service seemed rear but I could hardly hear the server for all the background noise.
Good French food. Onion soup outstanding
Chicken was ok. I’ve had better French food but this was very good
Another lovely dining experience at Bisto Bis. We have been going to Bis for 23 years and have never had a bad experience. From the time we were greeted to our dessert it was flawless. Our server was extremely gracious as well and so friendly, Max Buben was welcoming and shared several treats with us from his kitchen. Our meal was delicious, the steak frites is always the best in the area and the lobster bisque velvety. Our favorite steak tartare never disappoints. We will return again and again! Thank you!
Overall good, my guinea hen was undercooked
The wine selection was reasonably priced for a D.C. restaurant. The food presentation was noticeable for every dish. Our server, Josh, was great and handled the payment arrangement perfectly. Definitely a must go on the Hill.
Very good service and kind staff. Went for a birthday in the family and everyone enjoyed it.
Steve comes through again with great service, helpful suggestions, and hilarious banter! The food and Steve keep us coming back! Oh, and bring back the cheese puffs! Don't mess with a winner!;)
Great food and ambiance. Server was initially trying to rush us into ordering before we even had our drinks . After a firm request to stop, our meal was enjoyable. Great onion soup and beef Bourguignon. The grouse was a little stringy.
Good reasonably priced menu. Wine list is a real value for D.C.
our server was clearly trying to push us out the door.. was very annoying as we were engaged in conversation....
The food and service were impeccable! Loved my Trout Almondine!
Ran out of iced tea
The meal was delicious. Everyone in the party loved their entrees
Amazing- as usual. Out 36th Anniversary and BB did not disappoint! Food was top notch and Hector was brilliant.
Still our go-to DC favorite!
What a great place: food, ambience, and great service. And it didn't end at the table. Our waiter, Steve, followed us out to the sidewalk as he deduced we were having trouble with calling for an Uber Ride. He couldn't get our phone to work, so called on his own phone which put the charge on his bill. We shoved $10 into his hand, but that didn't pay for the whole ride at all. Above and beyond. Who does that kind of thing? I guess Bistro Bis does....and Steve, and we won't forget such exceptional class.
Tremendous service for a Saturday biz breakfast.
The restaurant and service were great. The food was all amazing except my steak was a bit tough, but they promptly offered to remedy it. The halibut and bread appetizer were so good!
Saturday at 11:30. Not many people around so it was nice to enjoy the good food and excellent service
Food is always great. We had our favorite person, Steve, as our server. Ask for Steve, and ask him for his thoughts on the cheese selection. Don't miss it. They recently added Parker House rolls, and they were obscenely good!
Food choices were great for a group with varied tastes. The food came out quickly and accurate. One bummer, It was hard to catch or server to get more drinks and settle up but he may have been stretched thin with summer holiday schedules?
My server was amazing. Super attentive to my dietary needs, amazingly welcoming but unobtrusive. Perfect for a business lunch.
Went for their brunch restaurant week menu, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Portions were huge, and the food was delicious. The French onion soup was fantastic, as was the dessert.
Came here for restaurant week brunch and it did not disappoint! The creme brûlée was to die for!
We had a delicious dinner - during restaurant week - of classic french dishes. The restaurant was classically decorated and lovely, if a bit crowded.
Bistro Bis exceeded all expectations on our first visit, for my husband's birthday weekend and a visit from our son and his wife, whose family is French. We were impressed with the large number of selections on the Restaurant Week menu, all delicious and beautifully presented. The pace was leisurely and uncrushed, so we could fully enjoy a salad or soup, entree, and dessert for lunch. Thank you for a charming afternoon in the bistro, a perfect respite between viewing museum exhibits.
First visit. Excellent service and brunch selections. Will return in future for dinner opportunity.
Escargot and scallops were amazing.
Delicious food. Great service.
We went for restaurant week, which I usually assume will be scaled down. Not so with bistro bis. They offered so many choices!
Started with watermelon gazpacho and beet salad. Delicious. Entrees were duck confit and trout amandine. Wonderful. Desserts were lemon pastry and chocolate torte. Great finish.
Loved our Catalan server! He was lovely, food was delicious with nice portion sizes.
Great restaurant! Went there for lunch during Restaurant Week: large selection on this menu, which includes many of the best options from the regular menu (which few restaurants actually do). Very good food: looking and tasting great!
Service was extremely rushed and to crowded for the number of server. Order was wrong. Food was pretty good but both desserts were disappointing. Snails were great.
Short ribs were delicious. Watermelon gazpacho was very good. Hector was a great waiter. Recommend this restaurant.
