Lovely meal at this very consistent bistro. Watermelon soup & the eggplant were both very good. I have eaten here dozens of times with no disappointments.
Good breakfast with old friends
It was good.
This is a consistently excellent restaurant located within the Hotel George. It has a great menu, food and wine list are excellent. The bar adjacent is also wonderful.
Good food and attentive service. I recommended to a friend and they had a wonderful evening as well.
Noisy and bustling, but a fine venue for a business lunch, and very convenient to Union Station.
I have eaten here on several occasions. Always good. This time was Sunday lunch. The crab and asparagus soup was a lovely first course. The mushroom tart was a perfect second course. The bartender, who acted as the server, did a first rate job and did a nice job pairing wines with the foods.
We have been to Bistro Bis on a number of occasions and it is always a quality meal. The service is fantastic, personal and professional even when busy. The food is fantastic. Love everything we order from the mainstays and classic dishes to inventive appetizers and seasonal entrees. The wine selection is nice, balanced and we always find something to our like. It is expensive so we can't come as often as we'd like but its DC... so the prices are reasonable in this setting. Enjoy!
Very small crowd for a holiday breakfast, great service, terrific ambiance. Also good for kids (our group had four.) Food and service were exceptional.
Betsy the bartender is the best. There is not better bartender/server in DC.
We had a lovely and memorable dinner!
The food and service, as usual, was outstanding. However, as we passed the 8pm hour, the crowd came in and very quickly the heat and the noise in the dining room reached levels that we could not tolerate. We left before dessert and went elsewhere in search of a sweet.
Consistently wonderful, high quality food. Menu consistent, but new specials provide variety. Cocktails are great but pricey.
The food was amazing! Stopped in after a long day of traveling & didn’t want a huge meal, so shared an eggplant appetizer & seared scallops entree with a friend. The portions didn’t appear to be enough at first glance, but were so rich & delicious, that it was just right. Having spent many years in the food service industry, I especially appreciated that the waiter did not treat us differently because we shared dinner. I would highly recommend the food & professional service!
Delicious food, attentive service and a lovely, elegant atmosphere. I’ll dine there again before I leave DC this week. An AMAZING special - guinea hen. Highly recommended!! Hi
I have had great food and service at Bistro Bis in the past, but my brunch experience this week was most unsatisfactory, and has erased my goodwill. The service staff was unpleasant, with one person not actually speaking to us when we made a request, which was fulfilled, in silence. The food was marginal, which is made all the more vexing due to its cost, and the fact that everything is a la carte. I don't mind paying for good food, but this was not it. I had salmon benedict, a featured item on the short menu, so that one would expect it would be special..instead it was tasteless and unappetizing, and I left most of it. One saving grace was the great crabcakes that a companion ordered..but the overall experience was dismal. Perhaps brunch is not their thing. Beware.
Extremely rude maitre’d
Service was fair
I WOULD recommend Bistro BIs, but I am very sorry they changed their menu. I can see adding some new things, but many of my favorites are gone. And the onion soup was very salty.
Food was ok. Coffee and orange juice very good. Comfortable place and convinent.
Outstanding in every respect. We avoided a super loud crowd of drunks at the bar and insisted in a table way in back, which helped. Best meal we’ve had in a long time.
Went for a business lunch.
Interesting French-oriented menu; wasn't sure how the unusual combinations of ingredients described in the menu would taste. However, all was excellent— wonderful blends of flavors the atmosphere was lively, but not distracting.
Would definitely go back for Capitol Hill business!
The quality of the food and service is always consistent and spot on at Bistro Bis! Its quickly become one of my favorite restaurants for business lunches in the area.
The service was inconsistent to what I am accustomed to experiencing at Bistro Bis. There was a "tone" to service as if we weren't welcomed or not desired. Hard to decipher.
This remains our neighborhood go to spot. Great food, but spectacular service. Steve is always amazing, and takes great care of us. It's no wonder he has so many regulars. We had to have Olga's Minsk Mule, a blueberry take on the Moscow Mule. It was awesome!
We were celebrating the acceptance into the Princeton history PhD program of a friend, and Steve made it special!
Bistro Bis offered an elegant atmosphere and updated version of some Amerian classics. The food was creative and the service excellent. It was a bit loud for conversation, but still, a great place to people watch and enjoy excellent cuisine.
Always reliable fine. Excellent Menu and specials. Excellent and courteous service. I return when I can and always look forward to it.
We had the steak frites and the seasonal crab sandwich, both were very good. The service is great and everyone was very friendly.
Fantastic as always! Service was attentive, but not intrusive. Food was delicious.
Having had the cassoulet several times before, this dish was a bit disappointing. There were only two half slices of sausage which is sort of like the prize in cracker jacks. Everything else was grand as always.
My favorite restaurant in DC. Great food and fair prices for DC.
Evelyn was our server and my son and I had a wonderful dining experience with her attentive service. The scallops were amazing and so filling I couldn’t finish them. My son enjoyed a new drink addition to their menu of a white sangria with beautiful chunks of fruit in the drink.
This is our go to Capitol Hill restaurant. The staff is highly experienced and greatly enhances the dining experience. Steve is our usual waiter, and they just don't come any better. Olga is awesome too! We tried Olga's new cocktail, and it was an amazing summer drink! We already booked to come back in two weeks!
The food was so mediocre. I had the shrimp salad, it was four small shrimp, a few pieces of lettuce, maybe four halvedcherry tomatoes, and a few splotches of tarragon sauce. Pretty spare and unimpressive. My guest had the chicken salad, with soggy Romaine and a sliced chicken breast. A disappointment. I used to like this place a lot. Been there twice for dinner and several times for lunch with friends and colleagues. It’s gone down hill considerably so it’s no longer in my list. Sorry.
The main course of duck confit was delicious. The two different starters we had at our table (escargots and endive salad) were disappointing. It was noisy to the point of having to raise one's voice to speak to one's table mates - we were in a booth next to the wall dividing the bar section from the rest of the restaurant.
Greek salad is a solid lunch option. Ambiance is not special but diners are not constantly aware of being in a hotel, which is important. Service is exceptional. Menu is 15 to 20 percent overpriced.
The food was delicious. I can't say anything bad about our whole experience.
Good food, GREAT service! Felix and staff are very attentive!
The portion size was small, even for lunch, and the taste was forgettable.
Want to have breakfast at this place, but didn't available so we went for lunch, not much options on the menu. Food tastes good but not outstanding. Service was great.
Wonderful meal! The ambiance was perfect and food beyond delicious!
