There is also street parking, when available.
We went for restaurant week. We traveled from Baltimore just to try some of DC’s finest. We arrived a bit early and decided to have a drink at the bar. The bar tender was very helpful and knowledgeable about the drink and wine list. The food was really good. Especially the French onion soup. Excellent restaurant week options. The server was efficient but not very personable. He did not add anything to our outing. Basically just got us in and out.
The food was very nice as was the service. Good menu and delicious desserts.
Thank you Hector for great service. We were out on a date while on vacation. Romantic but a little bit noisy. Great food and wine. Good value.
I have to say that was the poorest meal I have had in years at an upscale restaurant. The prices would have been fine had this been an excellent or even a very good meal, but the food was, frankly, stunningly bad for the price. Ordered a salad as a first course; it came with much of the lettuce literally browned at the edges, drenched in an acidic and tasteless dressing. Trout as a second course was floating in an oily sauce, came with rather tired haricots verts and was altogether disappointing. To top this all off, unfortunately, we had a server who I am sure thought she was being friendly but would not stop interrupting our gathering to talk at great length multiple times about her experiences at this and other restaurants. Altogether a big mistake. Avoid.
It had been awhile since we had visited Bistro Bis, but it delivered as usual. Great Steak Frites and Crab Cakes. The wine list was exceptional as usual. Glad we went and look forward to our next visit.
You can always count on their exceptional French food and high quality ingredients. Although service was very good, it was a little slow. If you’re in a hurry make sure you let them know.
Excellent food, service by Jonathan was impeccable.
A birthday meal as precursor to taking the Monuments by Moonlight tour. Location, service and food exactly as advertised. Will go again should occasion arise when back in town.
I have eaten here several times and it's been okay in the past. One of the people at our table described the halibut as tasteless. I had the steak frites--looked to be a nice cut of beef but it too was rather bland.
Had a great time, Excellent French food. Reasonable wine list.
On a strong recommendation from an acquaintance, I brought my teenage daughter here for a special dinner while we were visiting DC. We reserved a table on a weeknight using OpenTable. The host staff were all very welcoming; the ambiance was just right; the food was excellent; and our waiter was charming and attentive. We had a charcuterie plate - one of the best I've seen in many years, the Potato Crusted Halibut and the Trout Ardenaise. Both were perfectly seasoned, elegantly presented, and just right. On the waiter's recommendation we shared the Opera Cake, though we were too full to finish it and brought it with us. Rich and chocolaty, and beautifully presented. There were only a few other guests present at that late hour on a weeknight, so the atmosphere was fairly quiet, though I imagine it would have been louder if more tables had been full. All in all, it was lovely, and I'd recommend it highly.
The A/C was not working well. Made it hard to enjoy the restaurant.
Always love the specials at Bistro Bis. Tuesday's Salmon special was outstanding. Unfortunately, our server was having an off day -- brought my husband the wrong entree so we all waiting while the correct one was prepared -- and he kept forgetting to bring extra ice, which we requested several times. He was very nice, but I think he had a lot on his mind.
RESTAURANT WAS VERY WARM, PLEASE TURN THE AC ON!!!
Best eggs in DC. Best breakfast in DC. I love eating in the front.
The menu wasn't overwhelming, had some fun options, as well as the great staples like steak frites. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and recommended some good dishes and drinks. I got the salmon on the specials menu and really enjoyed it, and 2 of the others loved their steak. The desserts were also fun, such as the chocolate cake with layers, which included gold flakes. Good experience and ambiance overall. The noise levels were reasonable for us to have conversations in, too. Thanks!
Hoping to see an updated menu with more salad and lighter options
always great. smart and friendly staff. super fresh, Frenchish food....low key class, when you want to have a politico/in the know/ grown up lunch with fresh, highly professional dishes-- yet entirely unpretentious quality to all.....super fresh food
that is why you see just all about all the hill, courts, press/media etc. in and out for a proper lunch
quiet good dinners
good wine list not insanely overpriced like so many other spots...
pure insiders spot
Great food. Great service. Great time.
Very convenient if you are going to Union Station. Easy walk. We had just entrees that were good. Our waiter was a little indifferent but OK. We were there at 6 PM and the service was fast as you would expect at that hour before most people dine.
The food is amazing, both the fish and the meat dishes. I am never disappointed and they provide an elegant environment for a reasonably priced lunch menu. Highly recommend for business engagements.
Our waiter was overzealous. Proceeded to pour a second bottle although we did not formally request it.
Excellent customer service!! From when I walk in, Zanaidah greeted me so professionally and kind! Great job. I worked with Memo who was genuine, kind, and super friendly. I highly recommend this place
We stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel next to this restaurant. Overall they have pleasant (bright) decor and simple/fresh food which I really liked. The mussels were fresh and cooked just right. Overall I like this place and recommend it
Great service, great food. I only wish the steak frites came with the traditional mustard/oil vinaigrette. Le Dimplomate serves it with their steak frites and it's perfect...just like it's found in France.
Bistro Bis is a difficult one to pin down; despite having eaten here more than half a dozen times. Perhaps the menu is too ambitious for me for lunch. It can often be quite crowded and while the service is good, I am often left somewhat dissatisfied. What makes Bistro Bis, quite frankly, is the location. It is genuinely the only fine dining experience within 5-10 blocks, which is a surprise in DC.
Delicious food - the soup special which was a cold soup was outstanding and the crabcakes and salad were lovely. Service is always great. thank you!
Mid-morning breakfast and outstanding choice. Food was amazing and the service from Norman was very formal. We will definitely come back when visiting DC.
Tasty food, great service and reasonably priced dishes. Although the noise level was energetic, we could hear each other throughout lunch. It was great!
Consistently excellent cuisine and service!
Bistro Bis provides consistently good meals. I particularly like their salad nicoise.
We had a very good meal, accompanied by pleasant and efficient service, in a nicely appointed setting. I've been here for business lunches before and they've all been just like that. Bistro Bis is reliably good.
Elegant, fun waiter with a good wine list
Extremely rude wait staff. She had a surly attitude and made us feel as if she didn't want to seat us-even with a reservation.
The food was delicious, and service was very good. The dining room was practically empty though, which took away from the experience. No vibe or excitement in the air. I don’t need to eat at the trendiest, hottest places, in fact they are usually more hype than good food, but I do want some type of city scene, and on this night there was none. Also, we had wanted a slightly earlier reservation (7:45 instead of 8:00), which we couldn’t get thru Open Table. So I was surprised when we walked in to an empty restaurant. But overall the food was great so I would probably eat there again if I am in that neighborhood.
It’s a great restaurant that’s tucked discreetly around the corner from union station making it ideal to meet clients as it’s quiet and the food is good.
Absolutely lovely people there and great food!
I had not been to Bistro Bis in a very long time, but found the food to be quite wonderful. Our waiter disappeared for a while and was a little standoffish, but it is a French restaurant after all!
I will have to make it a more regular stop. I used to love it for a weekend brunch.
B.B. is consistently very good. The table was attended to by bar tender which is fun as their style of attention is different than good waitstaff so we enjoyed it. See u next time.
As a guest at the George Hotel, I have enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at Bistro Bis. Both the service and food are excellent. As a result of its proximity to Union Station and the good food and service, many politicians and Washington insiders dine here and often it feels like a lot is going on —in a good way. Last time I had breakfast the table next to us was conducting a full interview being broadcast on radio.
