The Bistro provided an exceptional meal (salad and short-ribs that were out of this world good) and world class service. My meal there was a highlight of my week's stay at the Bacara, and if you are at all familiar with the place, you will know just how high a bar the Bistro achieved.
Hit and miss service, over priced and mediocre food
A lovely birthday lunch spot! Great food and service!
Horrible, service was a disgrace had to ask for service and then had to place our order twice , because the waiter could not remember our order. The food was tasteless and overcooked. To top it all off I literally witnessed a male manager push a female employee so he decided was in my way
Love this place. I have a fan of Bacara for over 12 years!
Good food, good service. Great breakfast (pancakes and berries).
The food was very mediocre but the location is beautiful and the service is great.
The setting and the view speak for themselves. We found the menu to be rather disappointing whereas having a vegan in the group was very difficult to accommodate and having kids you can't get something as simple as a burger. The food itself was good but not great.
We stayed at Bacara Resort and Spa for my husband's 50th birthday and couldn't believed the amazing oceanview, spacious rooms and how beautiful the resort was. It was also UCSB family weekend so we decided to bring my son and his girlfriend back to the resort for breakfast. We ate at the Bistro and sat outside to enjoy the view. We ended eating at their buffet. Food was fresh, hot and delicious! You can have them made to order pancakes, waffles and omelettes.
We had a very nice lunch. I've been many times and would go back.
Wonderful day at Bacara Spa included lunch at the Bistro.
From the food, the service and the view it was a perfect day.
Thank you ❗️
The Bacara Hotel was absolutely beautiful. The Bistro was a fun chic place to eat but we were less than impressed with our waitress. She neglected to bring our silverware until after our food had arrived and not once did she check on us during and after our meal. She never brought us refills either. Not sure if she was having an "off" day but for the amount of money you spend at "The Bistro" to eat, I would've expected better service.
Amazing experience, wonderful dinner, blackened halibut was outstanding, excellent thank you
Our reservation was given to another party. They told us that our party was already seated. I had reserved for 4, they seated 8 for our party, go figure. Very unorganized restaurant. Slow service. Attitude from servers. Took forever to get our breakfast. Eggs shouldnt take 45 mins to cook. Sub-par service and food quality overall. I can get better service and same quality food from Denny's or IHOP.
Amazing very creatively done food. It's a pet friendly restaurant which was of particular importance since we love to dine with our pooch.
We went to the Bistro for my boyfriends birthday. We had a wonderful time! The filet mignon with mashed potatoes topped with fresh lobster bites was to die for! The staff
was friendly and fun. Although the meal was pricey, it was delicious!
Great place, walk from hotel lobby to Bistro fun, scenic.
Bistro outdoor dining fantastic!
Had a wonderful sweet lady for waitress.
Chicken tacos, wonderful!
Will go back with another friend!
The staff was very friendly but they were not attentive to what we as diners needed such as refills on beverages, etc. The setting is absolutely stunning and the food was yummy. Maybe a little better training for the waiters.
A great location, but the menu selections are pretty limited, and service was spotty. The waitstaff was very friendly & good. However, my wife & I ordered (2) dishes that we said we were going to be splitting, and they didn't even split it up for us in the kitchen, as one would expect from a restaurant in this price range. We had to split it up ourselves at the table.
The view and ambience are exceptionally nice; ocean view and a quiet terrace near the pool.
I think there should be more food choices on dinner menu.
The food was good and view is great. But service still could be better. Never filled my coffee and messed up order.
I highly recommend that you have breakfast here. I usually make breakfast at home so it is so nice to actually have someone make me a great breakfast. The chef here utilized farm to table type dishes. Everything was incredibly fresh and I was blown away with the quality. Breakfast may be pricey but it's worth it plus the views of the Pacific Ocean are perfect.
Excellent food and even better service
Had a wonderful stay at Bacara including the Spa. Anniversary Dinner at The Bistro where disappointed by menu selections and service. Had 3 servers and still felt forgotten in spite of a very slow night table wise. Asked for a doggie bag and it was forgotten as well as waiting for the check for far too long. The entire experience was less than what we expected for a restaurant at the Bacara.
Food was ok, view is romantic but waiters need more experience not happy with customer service or food
Alexis our waitress was awesome. The place is not snobby like i thought lol my 3 yr old had a great time running around before food arrived
We had a blast! Thank you! Kale salad with chicken added was delicious! Oh, and you have a great wine list!
very average - staff was disconnected, price for product not in line, I know they only opened a month ago but other reviews were similar and in a month's time they should pull together better than they have, assume the hotel provides a pretty full house each night so not as much pressure to deliver
Everything was AWESOME!!!!
Had a great time and the food was good. Outdoor dining was really nice.
Food was delicious
The menu choices are excellent and the two items my friend and I shared for lunch were outstanding. The view is lovely and it is a nice quiet patio for a relaxing and chatting with each other. However, on this visit, the service was atrocious! Or, as we started to call it, non-service. Our server was inside for most of our time there and we had to ask other employees for more water several times, a cup of coffee at the end of the meal, and for a few other things that were neglected since the server never checked in with us. Surprisingly, the other staff members seemed to have attitudes about being asked to help patrons that were not sitting in their stations. As we exited the patio, we realized only one staff member was outside where all of the customers were sitting. The rest of the staff were in the back room chatting. I recommend the Bistro because of the ambience and quality of food. But, you pay a high price for that and be prepared for sub-par or non-service.
Celebrated our 10 year anniversary at The Bistro. Perfect location, service, and great food and drink.
Although I expect to pay higher prices at a resort I also expect good food. Neither my husband nor I was wowed by anything. Services was okay but not outstanding. We had both breakfast and dinner here and felt the breakfast was better but a somewhat limited menu although there is a buffet option.
Our waiter gave us no direction when asked what to order. The halibut ceviche was terrible. It was spongy and chewy and had very little flavor. The other food was okay but nothing special for the price. The grounds were dirty and the cement walkways stained from different things dripping. The outdoor bar was loud with people partying within close earshot.
Bistro is well worth Valet parking at hotel entrance only and a downhill trek (or shuttle ride). With either indoor or patio dining, it has a civilized atmosphere for a high quality dining experiemce. All 4 of our party ordered the local seafood cioppino, and nobody was disappointed. Alexis and helpers were friendly and attentive. However, despite my including on OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, there was no mention or indication that Bistro staff were made aware of that note, plus OpenTable originally emailed us asking why we did NOT show up for reservation?!? Apparently there must have been some type of 'disconnect' at front of the house?
Beautiful setting, outstanding service and delicious food! An all around wonderful evening!
Incredible property overlooking the ocean, amazing gourmet menu (ridiculous pork chop & lobster mashed potatoes) and impeccable service !
This was our third time at the scenic and gorgeous Bacara Bistro but our first with kids. The kids loved their pasta but parents take note: the kid meals are $17. It includes a choice of pasta, chicken fingers, hamburgers, and one other item. The menu states that "all children's meals come with whole wheat goldfish, a small beverage, and a dessert." Actually, it doesn't. When I paid for the meal and asked if about the goldfish and dessert, I had a miscommunication with the server who said I didn't request it. I told him I didn't because the menu said "all children's meals" and had to point to the kid's menu. He then came back with two small bags of goldfish and two fruit roll ups (that was "dessert"). I think their food prices are on point for lunch given the quality of food but they seriously need to work on their kid's menus. My yummy kale salad was cheaper than the kid's food?
