Come here for your special occasions (and anytime.. the food is outstanding!)! They made my son’s (10yr) birthday special by stopping by the table, offering a dessert and nice note.
A+ all around. Food was excellent as well as service.
The food is absolutely delicious! Service was spot on and although it was quite cozy we didn't feel like we were too close to the nearby tables. It's a great place to take out-of-town guests.
Just love this place. Dishes flavorful and unique. Ambiance warm and inviting. Wait staff and service exceptional.
A superb dining experience, start to finish -- exotic atmosphere, warm hospitality, delectable and authentic Afghan cuisine. The quiet sitar music is a wonderful touch.
This restaurant doesn't disappoint! Food, service, great. One false note - didn't have cream for coffee and the half and half provided had turned. Oops!
Always a lovely spot with great food and friendly staff.
I love Bistro Aracosia and am happy they are in the neighborhood. They are consistent and very friendly. I’ve never had food from Afghanistan before trying this fine establishment, but recommend it to friends
Aracosia am absolutely amazing dining experience.
Food excellent in all respects, especially wide selection of vegetables
We really enjoyed our dinner with my elderly father in-law. The food was outstanding, as was the service. Note, menu prices are higher than listed online.
It's always a pleasure to dine at Bistro Aracosia. My two boys and I invited our good friends this past weekend, they too, had a pleasurable experience.
Staff is warm and informative. The food an is rich with spices and grill flavors. Plenty if options for non meat eaters, we have brought three vegetarians , on separate occasions to dine with us, as the menu has amazing vegetable options. The butternut squash is my favorite!
I usually get the salmon, but have switched to the lamb shank lately... As it felt like fall. The pumpkin dumplings are a must, they can be topped with meat or yoghurt. My younger son loves a dish called quorti, spiced meat and lentils over warm flat bread, topped with yoghurt, he orders it every time! It's an appetizer, but he is twelve, so he eats it as a meal after the pumpkin dumplings.
Highly recommended. Often crowded, a reservation is a must.
They fabulous food seasoned to perfection truly delighted us. The super friendly staff made certain our meal was perfect.
Despite making a 9 pm reservation, we had to wait 1/2 hour to be seated. It was very loud and crowded but the food is delicious and the staff exceptionally hospitable. It is a pricey place so be warned.
I don’t write reviews often, but this is a five star place and deserves it. The food, the service, the generosity of the owner, it’s all top notch and I consistently look for new people to introduce to this place
I had the lamb shank moguli. It was the best lamb dish I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly with perfectly balanced spices. A++ Afghan food and service.
Food all tasted the same. Extremely salty. Bread very mediocre. Had grilled quail..very burned.
David and his team are amazing. Great food and hospitality abound!
Professional staff, very knowledgable of the menu and quite attentive. Ambiance was cozy and a bit dark. Plush. Food was great - flavourful and rich. Portions are big enough to share between 2 or 3 people. Owner was present, does his rounds to ensure guests are happy without being intrusive or over the top. Would recommend this place!
The very best Afghan restaurant anywhere. I make a special trip every time I am in town and it has always impressed. Maybe best of all (for those who do not eat rice), they allow you to replace the rice with one of their stewed vegetable sides. This alone would be enough to keep me coming back, even if the food were not the best Persian/Middle Eastern I have ever been too!
It was a great dining experience! The food was delicious and the service outstanding. I will definitely be returning soon.
I had never been to the restaurant and loved it. The owner and waitstaff were truly welcoming and passionate about their restaurant.
Food is exceptional and Uncle David was a wonderful host!
One of the best Afghani restaurants I’ve ever been to. Highly refined traditional dishes prepared to perfection. The seek kebab and lamb moghuly were out of this world. Bravo to the chef and staff.
Friendly and helpful staff, though a bit stressed given the crowd. Good recommendations. Owner came around and chatted. Food was excellent, lightly spiced, fragrant and not heavy like the rest of restaurant type south Asian food tends to be. Loads of options including a vegan menu. Definition nicely worth more visits to try out more of the menu! Great choice.
Best middle eastern food I have had, this place may be my new favorite.
While there were several good lamb selections, we were disappointed by the dumplings, which were mushy and covered in gooey sauce. Different varieties of dumplings all tasted the same, with heavy emphasis on potato fillings. Service was friendly, and prompt, especially for a busy place at any time of night. I do not plan to return.
We celebrated a birthday at Bistro Aracosia and it was fabulous - the menu is diverse, including a lot of options for vegetarians, the ambiance is wonderful and the service is outstanding. We ordered dumpling appetizers, ground beef kabob, a lamb platter and the chicken ladwana and all were delicious. What most impressed me about Bistro Aracosia was the excellent service - our server took time to go over the menu with us, ask questions and make recommendations about dishes he thought we would most enjoy. We will definitely return!
Superb dishes served with flair. Very welcoming atmosphere and staff.
As always, a delicious meal with excellent service. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and they welcomed me bringing in a birthday cake.
Fabulous as always--this was probably my 5th visit and the food is consistently excellent as is the service. Wonderful!!
This was my fifth visit since Aracosia opened. Love the place. Great food, friendly welcome, cozy interior. I wish this bistro could move or open a branch in Friendship Heights,
Outstanding food and service. Very clean, easy access on MacArthur, lots of street parking. Loved it
The food at Bistro Aracosia is just exceptional ! new savors and perfect preparation, not mentioning generous portions. Although the service was a bit slow in the beginning (the Bistro is consistently full) it was very responsive to our requests, and very friendly.
Restaurant was top notch all around. We had a reservation and had to wait (which initially ticked me off) in line but it was because of two reasons....everyone had a reservation and no one wanted to leave sitting at the tables because the food and ambience was incredible. The maitre d' did an awesome job of managing the line and even gave my wife and others a glass of wine because we all had to wait. The staff was very courteous and helped us with the menu to explain everything. Can't say enough about the food and how delicious it was. From the bread and chutneys they bring in the beginning, to the entrees, to the incredible deserts at the end...you just don't want it to end. We just found a new place to bring our friends and family who love to try new places.
Although we did wait a half hour for a table even though we had a reservation, the owner was very gracious and frequently
apologized.Food was very good, but noise level was so energetic we could not here our server.
Super--across the board. Amazing food, top-notch service that is friendly and helpful (THANKS Wais, Uncle David, and other staff), and a great space. It does get somewhat noisy when they are packed. This is a great restaurant that really knows what hospitality is all about. We can't wait to go back!!!
This restaurant serves excellent food and the waiters are very nice and well prepared. Extremely advisable the lamb
The staff is so friendly and there is a very warm ambiance. The food is excellent. We lived everything but the dumplings are a must.
