Neighborhood favorite!!! Highly recommend. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere.
Everything from food to service was excellent. The sommelier was so passionate knowledgeable and personable it made the wine picking even more fun!
Bistro Aracosia continues to please. The staff is very friendly and helpful. One in our party had a number of questions and our server was great with her. Also was great at helping us choose between two or three dishes that we had been considering. The last time we were there was on Saturday evening and this time was a Sunday evening...it was a bit more relaxed. The food is absolutely delicious and the after dinner complimentary drink is a nice surprise (although I've been there before and had this happen, I had forgotten about it). We are looking forward to trying the McLean location when it opens but will continue to make the trek into DC too.
Our lunch was delicious and the staff was friendly and eager to please. A lovely birthday dinner for my husband’s special birthday!
Bistro Aracosia has an extensive menu selection. The food and service were very good.
We enjoyed our dinner and will definitely return even though the meal was somewhat uneven. The lamb tenderloin appetizer was sensational but the dumpling assortment was disappointing both in flavor and texture. The Chicken Arocosian was a tasty entree. Our server was a delight.
Our second visit, this time with out of town guests. Absolutely superb in every way. Creative, fantastic food, great hospitality. Still quite loud--I did not appreciate the wonderful live music until I was leaving the restaurant and could hear it--but could not from ~15 ft away.
This is probably our 10th visit to Bistro Aracosia so that speaks for itself. The food is both comfort food and refined because the flavors are fairly complex. Portions are generous. You can have a table conversation without raising your voice or overhearing your neighbors. Parking is easy. The service is either outstanding or good. The hosts are always very welcoming and warm. It is our 13 year old's son favorite restaurants.... and ours too.
The food is outstanding. The service and ambiance was amazing, I would totally recommend this place.
Always great, food and service.
As a first-time lunch diner I was very favorably impressed. The restaurant has a warm ambience, and the service was very friendly. The food is very tasty and the portions are generous. This will definitely be a go-to restaurant for lunch with friends or casual dinners.
Bistro Aracosia is simply outstanding in all respects.
Honestly beyond words. Vegan at the table felt understood and server and chef made helpful suggestions he would never have generated on his own. One diner offered a minor, "fine-tuning" suggestion about one dish and got a nice bite of a "do-over" and a grateful response from the manager. Lamb dish was also astounding. Chickpeas and lentils perfectly firm and delightfully seasoned. These folks know what they are doing. All staff were gracious and eager to have us enjoy ourselves. Hosts. That's the word. They were hosts.
What a great addition to the Washington dining scene. Delicious food, both vegetarian and meat. Great service, relatively quiet.
A neighborhood bistro that won't disappoint.
Delicious food, terrific atmosphere. It was our first time there but it won't be our last!
As usual, we enjoyed everything we tasted and appreciated our waiter’s attentive service. Wonderful experience.
Our family of three loved our experience at this bistro. We had never had food from Afghanistan and it turned out to be a great treat. Definitely need a reservation and you can take your time if you ask the waiter to space dishes out. Such a welcoming place and extensive menu. We were visiting from North Carolina and look forward to eating here next time we are in town.
They treat you like family. The best Afghan food in DC and the very best ambiance. We’ve been to them all and we keep coming back to Bistro Aracosia. Take your family, they will have an unforgettable evening.
Two out of three of our main dishes (all meat dishes) and the dessert were outstanding but the appetizers were not quite the same quality, although very good. The service was excellent and very friendly. I definitely would go back to explore their menu more thoroughly.
Bistro Aracosia is now officially our “special occasion” restaurant. From the soup to the dumplings to the lamb (shank and chops) everything was flawless. Sides of eggplant perfect in texture and savoriness. Nice complimentary birthday cake too.
Perfect meal after a long day.
This was an amazing dinner. My husband and I are not newbies to Afghan cuisine, and Bistro Aracosia blew us away. The appetizers, the entrees - all flavorful and fantastic. We can't wait to share this dining experience with friends!
Aracosia is Literally my favorite restaurant in town.
Absolutely wonderful as always. One of my favorite places
Modern take on an Afghan restaurant. Service was exceptionally friendly and efficient without being over bearing. Menu was varied, the quality, preparation and presentation was excellent. With my meal I had a really nice Cava and a lovely Cotes du Rhone that were available by the glass. This was the second time we have eaten there and there will no doubt be a third.
This was out first time at Bistro Aracosia but it won't be our last. It has also been the first time in several years that my wife and I have had Afghan food. We loved it. Our reservation was at 8:45 and, despite a long line of others with reservations, we were seating fairly close to that time. The restaurant is small given the number of people it handles, so be prepared to eat in close quarters and, in some places, light dim enough to have trouble reading a menu of several pages of wonderful dishes. We had an appetizer, drinks, and main course and all for under $100. The brisket was mouth-watering and the chicken, although a bit dry, was marvelous with the tasty accompaniments that come with the dish. We were so pleasantly full that we skipped dessert. If you're coming by car, allow enough time to find a place to park. This area of NW DC is getting more popular as a destination venue because of its much-improved dining options.
Upscale Afghan food in the Palisades neighborhood of Washington DC - the food was delicious, there are plenty of vegetarian options, and the staff was friendly and attentive. If you like Afghan food, this is one of the top three Afghan restaurants in the DMV - and there is a lot of competition. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of, from giving us a table in the back room where it was less crowded, to presenting us with a complimentary birthday dessert! Our table was vegetarian, and there is a vegetarian section on the menu, with several seasonal choices - I would recommend anything with the butternut squash, and the vegetarian combo platter with qabuli was a fave. I will definitely go back!
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. We ordered the mixed dumpling appetizer and each was just excellent. Also had a chicken dish and the chocolate hazelnut cake. Each of the dishes was prepared with care and very well done. I will definitely come back!
Great food and friendly service!
This was one of best experiences we've had at a restaurant in D.C. in the 33 years we've lived here! I'd let them know when I'd made the reservation that we'd be celebrating a wedding anniversary of friends and that we'd appreciate a quiet table. They sat us at a lovely corner table, and they treated us with such kind and festive respect, I was bowled over! Plus, our waitperson was very helpful with suggestions, and we all loved the dishes and beverages we chose. Many staff people welcomed us, checked in during our dinner, and wished us well as we left. We can't wait ti return!
Best rest in dc just need to be renovated
Sumptuous meal with warm, attentive service in a relaxed, exotic setting!
Outstanding! What a great neighborhood gem and worth traveling for a divine meal of many layers of flavor. I love the cozy vibrant atmosphere too!
Best Afgan restaurant in the area. None of the staff members I am familiar with was on that night, but the staff that were there were excellent.
The service is insanely good - best in DC. Food is excellent too!
The four of us shared multiple dishes, each one delicious. We over-ordered because we knew we would want leftovers the next day! Delightful, patient, informative servers were a huge plus as was the fact that we could hear each other!! Go, relax, enjoy!
Delicious food !!
Best food in the area, friendly and responsive wait staff, and it is a beautiful restaurant as well.
It was delicious! From the moment you walk in, the deliciously flavorful smells take you to a wonderful experience immediately. I highly recommend to anyone.
