One of Durhams most upmarket restaurants but quite a way outside town and attached to a Register Office. However, food was well thoughtout out and presented. One of the quite expensive specials was a fillet of sea bream - unfortunately tasteless but otherwise we enjoyed it.

I have been a diner at Bistro 21 on numerous occasions over the years, notably my retirement, my birthday and other celebratory events. The food, service and ambience I have always rated very good. This time in particular, I must single out the service and attention given by the young lady. She exhibited a mature standard way beyond her youth. Smiling, patient and attentive. Plus her fine service remained unobtrusive throughout. The party was delighted with the whole experience, so much so, the occasion stretched way over the usual lunchtime period, for which I apologise. Thank you to all concerned for a very happy time. Good food served in pleasant surroundings, crisp white cloths set the scene for beautifully presented Fayre. Service was good as always and drinks in the courtyard made a very relaxing start and end to our meal.

Friendly efficient staff serving good quality fresh food. We were there for an early evening meal so the restaurant was fairly quiet but did not lack atmosphere and was busy by the time we left. The specials menu was very good value. The creamed cauliflower soup was delicious . Would definitely return if visiting the area again. -236

I took some friends visiting from Spain for a special dinner to celebrate a birthday...quietly. Having lived in the area some years ago they where very surprised at where I had taken them. The food was excellent, very different with plenty of choice (spoilt for choice really). the ambiance was just the ticket,would suit any occasion. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient.....the staff interacted with clients to suit the mood and conversation. Overall an excellent night and meal. Definitely a place to visit again !!

This is an amazing restaurant and the food is always outstanding, the service is exceptional and all the staff are very pleasant. Your meal is never rushed and the choice of all courses is really good. I go at least 6 times a year and have never had a meal that I have not enjoyed. Value for money on the special is amazing three courses for under £20 you cannot complain about that.

We were really happy to get a reservation here during graduation week and we had a lovely meal - superb food and service. It wasn't cheap but I felt the quality fully justified the amount charged. The surrounding and ambience were also lovely. Our table was up steep stairs which was difficult for my 92-year-old father; they did try to find us one downstairs but it was too busy - on leaving they did show us to a back exit which was easier. The only slight niggle was that there was only one vegetarian main-course option - more would have been good as one of our party was a veggie and they do deserve some choice.

We often dine at Bistro 21 as it is one of the best restaurants in Durham. It is one of our special favourites being the venue on our wedding day. The food here is always wonderful and the staff are extremely couteous and very helpful. The restaurant suits all occassions perfectly well, with its many different seating areas and arrangements. The staff go that extra mile to ensure the customer is satisfied and content. When planning a larger event, the team are always at hand to offer tips and suggestions and can cater to individual taste. Our wedding celebrations were perfect bliss, thanks to their attention to detail.

Took a member of a family from London thar we are friendly with on holiday.As he is a student at Durham took him for end of term.Since lunch as been in touch with parents raving about food
