Just the right mix of food and vibe.... fantastic!
The food is as good as any of Cambridge or Boston’s finest restaurants. Very attentive staff. Casual setting. Ideal for serious foodies who are neither stuffy nor fussy.
Beautiful and comfortable
A really memorable and enjoyable dinner. One of our group was vegetarian, which BISq accommodated well. The dishes were bursting with flavor. Wine suggestion was perfect. Loved our evening there.
Excellent service and food.
Absolutely amazing food and wine. Great Service and the waitress knew her wine! Great for any amount of people but always order 2 plates of a dish if you're with a group for everyone to try. A little sad that the pork belly was not on the menu but still left happy.
Enjoyed our dining experience very much. Friendly staff with great suggestions for pairings. Plan to visit again soon!
The creative dishes at this restaurant were impressive. You can tell the chef here loves to mix interesting flavors for a really special experience. My favorite dish was the Maitake mushrooms with savory spinach and cured egg. As soon as I finished the dish I wanted to order a second. I'm definitely going back here to see what the chef comes up with next.
The food is really good. Lots of interesting different small plates to share. Highly recommended
Really nice server and quiet environment for friends meet up. It’s a unique experience to try different ingredients mixed together which doesn’t match each other. The food are mostly over salted.
The server was a disappointment.
The young man avoided looking at our table whenever possible constantly staying away
He wasn’t eager to answer questions and seemed annoyed when serving us.
It truly made our experience that night sad and disappointing
Additionally the food was well overpriced for the portions given.
A perfect evening for launch of a new work project. My husband and I love BISq for our Friday night relax-after-a-long week dinners, where we sit at the bar and banter with the chef. Sitting at a regular table for a 4-person business dinner cannot be beat as business dinners go. Our seminar speaker from out of town is a foodie, and the adventurous and well-crafted small plates here hit the mark with him. One of my colleagues who lives in Lexington and had never been here said he is coming back with his family. The space is warm and easy to navigate, and the whole ambience sparks creativity, fun, and optimism. We shared one dish of almost everything on the menu. The only one that got mixed reviews was the fried chicken - you either love or don't love their style (I love it, personally). The delicata squash tempura is amazing. The vietnamese wraps were superb....everything was sooooo good.
I go to a lot of restaurants and Bisq is one of the ones I frequent the most. They have THE MOST friendly and hospitable staff and I cannot say enough kind things about the chef and the amazing dishes he comes up with! Get a bunch of friends, order everything, share, enjoy, and be merry!
Not worth the money compared to nearby options.
Very good. I felt like the food could have been a little bit better but overall it was good.
It’s amazing experience always!
We had an outstanding dinner at Bisq with good atmosphere, interesting wine list, professional service and creative dishes. We will definitely return.
Very interesting food, and most of it pretty rich. Great wines. Service a tad slack.
Fried chicken was not enough chicken, mostly the crust—fried chicken sandwich what I really wanted, but not on the menu—have to ask.
Bathroom door lock doesn’t work.
Cozy, intimate space, sublime flavors, the ceviche a must! Can’t wait to go back! Alex is a talent! Thank you for making my anniversary dinner awesome.
What an absolutely wonderful time. Great wine list for different budgets. Outstanding service and delicious + interesting dishes. Very underrated neighborhood restaurant!
The food was tasty and had interesting flavors esp the Grilled Squid and Chanterelles. The Fried Chicken was decent but we felt the batter was a bit salty and the meat was over-battered. Ambiance in the restaurant is really nice and it was cool to see the team in the open kitchen.
Chicken was too salty. Ceviche was too limey. Burger is amazing though.
Meh, hostess gave us attitude for being fifteen minutes late. Was only willing to give us counter seats. Meanwhile the entire restaurant was empty and never filled during the time we were there. I love the food at Bergamot, but the ambiance is a little old/stuffy. Was hoping BISq would have the same quality of food with a a more relaxed vibe. Unfortunately, not the case. Good luck with this strategy.
sumptuous small dishes with a new menu every day, which celebrates the creativity of the chef.
The food and wine are delicious. Our server knew a lot about wines, whereas I know little about wines. When I asked for something a little less tangy, she replied, "I thought you said you liked pinot noirs." That was embarrassing. She is enthusiastic about her knowledge, which I imagine is newly acquired. As she gains more experience, I am sure she will learn the appropriate response is to say, "let me get something else for you to try," and will refrain from pointing out the ignorance of the guest she is serving. I was with friends, who don't care that I don't know anything about wines, but had I been with colleagues or clients, my embarrassment might have lasted longer, and seemed more consequential. In any case, there is an art to wine, and also, an art to serving wine. I trust our waiter will continue to gain experience in both.
Food was incredible as always. Ricotta toast dessert is the best.
The food was okay but certainly not worth the cost.
The biggest impression that BISq left with me was how they handled food allergies. I left a note in my online reservation that I had a dietary allergy. I never got a phone call as other restaurants do, so I was expecting to have a long drawn out convo with the wait staff. However, our waitress had already been notified, had already talked with the chef to figure out what I could and couldn't have, and what substitutions could be made. It was a relief to not have to do the mental work when I got there and be able to just enjoy the (very very delicious) meal.
Everything is very tasty. Wait staff friendly and attentive. Nice decor. Menu is a bit small but enough variety and everything is prepared with care.
Definitely our favorite place in Cambridge. Quality food, responsible portions, locally sourced, and great service. Every person we interact with is friendly, knowledgeable and competent. We'll keep coming back.
Food was great but my only drawback was they advertised their whole animal roasts for larger groups (pig, lamb, duck, etc etc) yet they didn’t have any dishes on the regular menu using any of those animals. We were interested in hiring them for a private event in the future - but the fact that we couldn’t even try any of those animals in a regular sized entree was disappointing.
It’s a very nice cozy restaurant. I have been to once but this time I wasn’t satisfied with the food. The service is more than excellent, the appetizers were great but the food not as I expected. Not many main meal choices? I mean fried chicken? Hamburger?
We were there during the heatwave
My only regret was not coming here sooner. The food was fantastic. Small plates were delicious, and the fried chicken is an absolute must. Will definitely be coming back here.
A favorite Friday night treat! We usually sit at the kitchen bar, and get food handed over to us from the chef. The small plates are exquisitely inventive and delicious. The menu changes often enough there is always something new - but also some constant favorites. You can chow down on the burger or fried chicken if really hungry, or mix up small plates of veggies and scallops and cheese. Sooooo good! Service is also great!
Excellent food and cocktails.
This is a lovely wine bar with small plates food and also generous portions of fried chicken. Service was fantastic, the space is intimate and comfortable, local art is displayed on the walls. Perhaps my one suggestion would be that the food is overpriced ($8 for a single, relatively unremarkable biscuit was painful), but Bisq is located in a fairly expensive area so this is probably understandable.
Outstanding food. The chicken liver pate combined with leek churros was an absolutely inspired pairing, though the proportions were off -- too much churro. The fried chicken was also incredibly flaky, though the chipotle bbq was a touch over spiced.
excellent neighborhood spot. Food was perfectly balanced and the hospitality was perfect. I cannot wait to return.
