Everything was wonderful from the moment we arrived until we left. We felt welcomed and enjoyed an incredible meal. I cannot wait to go back!
Excellent and unique food, great service, lovely atmosphere.
This is the best kept secret in all of Cambridge
The quality of the food from local suppliers is excellent the creativity from the chef in regards to flavor combinations is simply wonderful
Amazing food, service and atmosphere! The menu is so creative and innovative, plus DELICIOUS. Definitely will come back! The servers are well-versed in the menu and give great recommendations!
Fantastic! Make sure to get the fried chicken! Also, the double cheeseburger!
Notable only to the extent that BISq's price to quality ratio can be considered as a sort of bold culinary experiment. I'll admit, there was a certain coherence to all the dishes we ordered. The octopus, the carrots, the black eyed pea hummus were weirdly indistinguishable. I suppose that's a type of achievement? They were all kinda earthy without being exactly flavorful, arbitrarily priced, and served at spaced out intervals that made you doubt whether you had ordered another small plate, then regret that you did as soon as you tasted it.
Sweet place to have a meal. Mostly the food was excellent. But the prices are high and the portions a bit miniature. Service was just ok. A little slow (but that was ok because we had the time) and not super friendly.
fantastic meal. Wine & service were great, but the food was the show stopped . New favorite spot!
Wine was fantastic. Our server was super helpful and gave great suggestions. The food was delicious. The menu is small but it seems like you cannot go wrong with anything you order. The veggies - carrots, squash, mushrooms - were the highlights.
We went to celebrate the closing of our children’s new house. We had a great experience. The food was amazing (scallop with pear and duck specials, homemade ricotta on toasted brioche with honey, roasted carrots with harissa and more), a great selection of wines by the glass and our server was informed and fun. We’ll be back!
We went for Christmas Eve/birthday dinner. Had burrata, mushrooms, pork belly and beef heart. Everything was decadent. Our favorites were the burrata and mushrooms, but the pork belly and heart were very good. The service was excellent, especially considering the timing. We look forward to trying the rest of the menu.
Best restaurant ever
Great flavors and tastes. Chicken was great. Fair pricing
I love BISq. Sitting at the counter and watching the kitchen is such a treat. Service was lovely and food was delicious. Got the oysters, octopus, burrata, and cavatelli, It was pretty quiet from 6-8:30 but then it got much livelier. I do wish the counter had seats with backs, but otherwise I have no actual complaints! I’ll keep coming back.
Frankly, the food was just really subpar. Everything else was fine, but can’t make up for the food
Great food, intimate, wonderful staff. We had a family dinner at Bisq - our first time there - and sat at the only place available, the counter. But it couldn’t have been more fun, watching the chefs, talking with the owner, and eat. Pork belly appetizer was awesome. Love this place!!!
Seriously memorable food - We will be dreaming of the Ceviche tangyness, the perfection of how the mushrooms were cooked - crispy yet meaty, and the grilled pounc cake was heaven. Don’t often write reviews but the delight of our taste buds at our table of 4 was unanimous!:) will be back ASAP!
Aside from the ceviche this food was mediocre at best
Just about the worst octopus appetizer I have ever had absolutely tasteless the fried chicken was average and not seasoned well the scallops were perfectly cooked but hopelessly under seasoned and the smallest potion imaginable All in all I will never return I expect to be wowed when I go out and this restaurant needs to completely rethink and fire their line cooks only the CEO I he was perfect and up to any standard
Great creative food but service was poor and with attitude. The noise level is high and the table was not comfortable.
Food was delicious, especially the pork belly, grilled pound cake, foie gras. The cod cheeks, while cooked perfectly, was somewhat lacking in presentation. They were also a large portion in relation to everything else so there was a little too much fish too eat.
The mushrooms ❤️
Food excellent. Good to share.
We had a fabulous experience! The food and service were both outstanding.
Very nice tapas bar. Fantastic service. Cozy booths for couples in the back, looked like the front was a bit more open. Very interesting fusions in small plates (churros with pate? I never would have expected that to work so well) The menu is frequently updated. Wine list was a tad expensive, but the food was reasonably priced and very good. I would highly recommend it!
We got the corner table in the bar - a seating coup. It is cozy and less noisy than the dining room. Our waitress was a gem. She knew all there was to know about food and wine and she was attentive throughout the evening. As usual, the food was divine. Bluefish pate to swoon over. A rich runny Burrata with sunchokes. Tiny bay scallops in a light sauce. And fried chicken so crunchy and tender. Oh my. We shared a bottle of Georgian orange wine That our waitress recommended. It was late and fresh and perfect with our meal. A wonderful dinner at this upbeat, informal, yummy place.
BISq is a go-to for me and my husband about once a week on the way home from work (Fri night usually), and we usually sit at the bar and banter with the chef/cooks. The menu is small but always has several small plates that are inventive and delicious - mix of fish (cevice) meat, veggies and a current fave is mushrooms (and I used to really not like mushrooms - my husband can't believe I keep ordering them every week!). And there is always the fried chicken! This was a work dinner, with a visitor and 4 other colleagues. Everyone loved it - the vibe is perfect for a relaxed meal & conversation, the service is excellent, and everyone shared dishes (bluefish pate is great for sharing). We will come here again for work.
The food was mostly even and good the Beef Heart however was chewy
An out of control drinking table next to us made it super noisy it's so small why book a table of 20 ?
I would enjoy more salads as options
We had a great time at BISq.
We will come back for sure.
The chicken liver mousse with the churros were outstanding.
We just loved Bisq! The portions of the smaller plates were not small at all, and the detail to every single ingredient and dish was impeccable.
A great place to go with our daughter's roommates and their parents. Everyone could get what they wanted and sample a variety of dishes at the same time. The wait staff seemed a little overwhelmed, though, and although we aren't exactly needy people, a little more attention at the start - I.e. while ordering drinks and preparing to order food - would have gone a long way. Maybe it was because it was a Saturday at primetime... We will definitely return, perhaps another night of the week, and the other parents said they would too.
Never got around to trying before, but finally tried Bisq after they came out on the Boston Magazine Fall 2018 50 Best Restaurants list. They deserve to be on the list. The outstanding fried chicken that we had with the delicious buttermilk ranch dressing is a must have. Our server steered us to a terrific bottle of wine (they only serve beer and wine). Other dishes we had: the swordfish kebab (very tender with a great green sauce), cavatelli with rabbit (like a very decadent mac n cheese with meat) and roasted carrots (simple but wonderful). Last but not least, the dish that was a special treat - the ricotta toast with honey! A thick slice of soft delicious bread, gently toasted and topped with house made ricotta and honey. So simple and so fantastic. This was served along with the chicken as our "last course". It was a perfect compliment to the chicken and sort of served as our dessert. As I said, they deserve to be on the top 50 list.
Yum ~ Fun ~ Never Glum
Boston Magazine hit a home run on this review!
One of my all time favorite restaurants in Cambridge. Incredible staff across front & back of house, phenomenal food quality with constantly rotating menu.
Bland food , LONG wait (even though the restaurant was not near full), cold service. Would not recommend
Service was not great. Waitress seemed unhappy to serve us. Seated in an area right inside main front entrance felt like we were not even in the restaurant which impacted ambiance.
Service. Waiter spiked water in table when serving us. Didn’t wipe it up.
Delicious food, outstanding service but very, very loud and not particularly comfortable.
Everything we all had was delicious. The server was attentive. Loved the vibe.
We wanted to like it more. Having only been once I wouldn't want to come down too hard. Maitake Mushrooms were perfect. Really good execution. The fried chicken had a slight lingering burnt taste: maybe the oil? We had a pork belly dish that was incongruous. Pork was warm, prepared well and seasoned on its own, but was presented with a cold dill infused and acid heavy ratatouille like"salad". The pacing was very off. We waited a long time for delivery of each item we ordered....so overly ample time to chat and relax.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bisq. The food was creative and well-balanced. The service was friendly and respectful. Overall, a terrific experience!
We went on a hot summer night and were very uncomfortable because their air conditioning barely works. This was not a temporary problem as they made it clear that it is always like that. By the end we essentially raced out because we were so hot and tired. Food was very good but not uniformly so. Tomato salad, meat skewers, and other tapas items were excellent. Fried chicken was crispy, but very heavy on the crust and kind of greasy. For fried chicken, I would head to Tupelo up the street. Oysters were fine but not exceptional. Prices are fairly high.
