About Bisou French Bistro
LOVE - FOOD - WINE - PASSION - LIFE - PEOPLE
Bisou translates to “Kiss” in English and illustrates the love we give to the food we cook, the wine we select, the passion that animates us everyday, the life we live and the people we host.
Situated in the heart of the Castro (at Market and Castro St.), Bisou serves traditional French cuisine in a new style and based on locally and organically grown products.
Bisou offers dinner and weekend brunch menus, but also provides late-night dinner that pairs well with a delicious cocktail or glass of wine.
In 2014 Bisou has evolved and started to grow its own produces at Napa Kitchen Garden situated in Pope Valley, Napa giving another all dimension to the guest experience and quality of food.

Bisou French Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Really good food and a fun brunch scene. Warning, it can get crazy loud, to the point where you are yelling at people seated across from you. This is especially true if seated upstairs. Overall, the food is innovative and reasonably priced. It is very popular on weekends for the mimosa brunch so reservations are highly recommended. Come earlier than 11:30 to avoid the crowds and high noise level.
The food and wine at Bisou are very good and served in a friendly ambiance. Chef/Owner Nick Ronan makes everyone feel welcome and provides a welcoming chat when you first arrive. We're only in San Francisco once a year but we always make a point of dining at least once at Bisou.
We arrived on time for our reservation for 7 and the restaurant thought we were a party of 5 and weren't prepared. We waited 45 minutes for our table which was two card tables pushed together against the office door next to the bathroom upstairs. They apparently ran out of orange juice and cranberry juice because they started dropping off small bottles (like you buy at Walgreens) on the table. Total amateur hour. The manager was apologetic but didn't follow through with promises. The server was very sweet. The upstairs bathroom was a disaster. Dirty, rolls of toilet paper thrown everywhere. Towel machine empty, stalls didn't lock, toilet seat wouldn't stay up, smelled awful. And the downstairs bathroom was even worse. It just seems like nobody takes any pride in this restaurant. Sad to see it decline so much. It used to be a great experience.
The former chef and owner of Chou-Chou opened this restaurant and dining there is a pleasure.
The food is superb, the staff is excellent, and the people and surrounding conversations interesting. Love introducing people to this gem of a restaurant in the Castro.
I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. The food is fantastic!! Every time my husband and I eat here we have a great dining experience. It is also nice how the Chef/Owner always comes over to make sure all is well.
I and my female friend did NOT come to your restaurant so that she could be groped by your hideously overweight server. I was disgusted and she was so uncomfortable that she didn't even want to finish her dinner. He had no right to touch her, squeeze her, or hug her. She didn't know him and neither did I. He sexually harrassed my friend while basically ignoring me, going so far as to give her a free drink after our meal (which, thankfully, she didn't touch. God knows what might have been in it). Your server was repulsive, and I will not be dining in your establishment again.
Learn to respect people's boundaries, you mysoginistic pig.
The Benedicts were pretty good - my crab one was a bit cold, and the flavor wasn't the best. My friend's chorizo Benedict was better. The noise level was super high - we had to shout to be heard at times. The redeeming factor was the bottomless mimosas. The staff kept the bottles coming, and we were never empty.
